twenty-two | need you
song of the chapter: 00:00 - bts
-
Ringing awoke me. I sit up, startled by the sound of my phone. I start lightly slapping my face to wake up and them reach for my phone on my nightable.
"Hello?"
"D-Dae."
"Jungkook?!"
"That's me."
"You're drunk, aren't you?"
"Yup!"
"What's wrong, why are you calling at this hour?"
"I'm in front of your house."
"Why are you in front of my house–"
"Please let me in. I need you."
I stare at my phone, dumbfounded. He hung up, just like that, after telling me that he needs me.
He needs me?
I get out of bed without thinking twice. The cold floor startles me as I start walking out of my room. I try not to make a sound as I go down the stairs. Once I reach the door I sigh, my hand finding the handle before pulling it.
There I see him.
He leans against the doorframe, his head hanging low. Two curly dark locks of his hair hang out of his ponytail and move slightly as he sighs. He wears his typical leather jacket with a dark red shirt and grey shorts. He's soaked, his motorcycle nowhere in sight which means he walked all the way here.
He raises his head, his face is red from crying as tears continue to fall from his eyes.
Jungkook doesn't waste a moment before pulling me to his embrace. His grasp on me lightly tightens as he sobs into my shoulder.
I've never seen him like this.
We stay a few minutes holding each other until he pulls away, wiping his face.
It hurts to see him like this.
"Jungkook–"
"Shh," he whispers as he calms down, "Don't say anything please, I need you."
He needs me.
-
"Are you sobered up?" I ask as we sit on the couch, staring at each other.
Placing my cup of coffee on the table, I stare at the man before me. He's turned to me as he nods.
"Thank you for letting me shower here," he responds, "and for letting me use your dad's clothes."
I nod, "It's nothing, don't worry," I respond, "now, it's okay if you don't want to tell me what happened but whenever you're ready I'm here." I say.
"I saw them." he replies.
I can only think of two people.
Jean and Bree.
"Oh." I say.
Jungkook sighs. He passes his hands through his hair before taking my hands in his.
"I'm sorry. I broke the promise, Dae." he says, his voice faltering.
The promise when we went to the mall. He had told me he wouldn't hurt Bree.
I grip his hand lightly, "No. You don't need to apologize for anything," I tell him, "she hurt you."
"I refused to believe the truth, too. I'm sorry." he lowers his head to our hands, pressing his forehead to them.
I can't say anything else so I just hug him again. He returns the hug, staying silent.
"Where do you plan on staying?" I ask him.
He had his shin on my shoulder, still in our hug, "I don't know, I can start searching for a place to stay tomorrow."
"We can talk with Jimin and Taehyung, they have an apartment nearby with a spare room." I tell him.
Jungkook stops his embrace and widens his eyes, looking at me, "Really?"
I nod, "You can sleep here tonight. I'll explain everything to my parents in the morning."
"Thank you, Dae." he says.
"I'm here for you. Always." I say truthfully.
We stay silent. Staring at each other, my eyes occasionally trail down to his lips. I stop myself as I stand up. I take the blankets from the table and give it to him.
"Here. I'm going to bed, tomorrow I have to get up early." I reply.
Jungkook nods before preparing the couch so he could sleep on it. The couch must be uncomfortable.
"You can sleep in my room, I'll take the couch." I tell him.
He shakes his head, "No. it's okay, I'll sleep here. It's kind of comfy."
"Guk-"
"I'll sleep here." He reassures me.
Sighing, I start making my way out of the living room. As I pass my the couch that Jungkook's already settled in, I feel his hand grasp my wrist before pulling me down.
"What are you doing?" I ask as he passes his arm around my waist, caging me in.
His voice fills my eardrums, "Let's just stay like this. Just for tonight, let's pretend that everything is fine between us."
My heart sinks.
Only for tonight, I'll pretend that we are okay.
"But my parents will have questions when they see us sleeping her—"
His loud snore interrupts me.
He's snoring.
I slightly turn my head towards him, finding him sound asleep.
What a night this has been.
What a night...
