song of the chapter: love maze - bts
-
Silence reigned inside Gina's diner as all of us saw Mr. Jeon enter. Today was evaluation day. A monthly evaluation was something everyone dreaded, even Seokjin.
"Good morning. I'll be here to evaluate all of you, I won't be able to start without my son–"
There, my heart starts beating abnormally at the mention of him. Jungkook was to be here too? Why didn't he tell me last night?
After our kiss, we went to Jimin and Taehyung's apartment, staying in his room for a few hours before he drove me home. What did we do? We just talked about random things as the night went on. I guess he forgot to tell me or didn't want to let me know he was coming too.
Seokjin nods before turning to all of us, Yoongi stays quiet by my side, "Okay everyone, let's wait for a few minutes before opening!" he says cheerfully, trying to lighten up our mood.
I nod before walking towards my locker, unlocking it and placing my belongings there. Beside me, Yoongi chuckles.
I turn to him, he has a smirk on his face, "What is it?" I ask genuinely.
"You look different today," he states, "happier."
"I don't know what you mean–"
Mena comes to my sight as she places an arm around Yoongi's shoulder, "He means that you are glowing today, which only means one thing." she trails off.
"You like someone!" she says cheerfully.
I chuckle nervously, "Mena I don't know what you're talking about." I kind of do...
Just as I answer, Seokjin comes to us, "Dae, may I talk to you for a second?" he asks me.
I nod before following him to the other side of the kitchen, where no one is.
There, Mr. Jeon stands with a smile on his face. Seokjin stands beside him.
I bow to Mr. Jeon in signs of respect, "Hi Mr. Jeon." I respond.
He chuckles, "Junghyun." he replies.
"Excuse me?" I ask, not understanding what he meant.
"You can call me Junghyun, not Mr. Jeon," he mentions, "it kind of makes me feel old." he jokes.
Seokjin chuckles, "Hyung always hates it when people talk to him formally."
Hyung? They must be close friends then.
"Say, Dae do you have any experience in business?" Junghyun asks.
I shake my head, "I don't have any experience."
He shakes his head in disagreement, "I am in need of a secretary, and I've heard from Jungkook and Seokjin here that you can be of great help."
He must be kidding. I widen my eyes at Seokjin who just nods at me.
"What are you implying?" I ask.
He chuckles, "I'm offering you a job at my company, you'll get payed more and will only work 5 days a week."
As I'm about to answer to him, I hear footsteps behind me.
"Did you tell her?" Jungkook asks as he puts a hand around my shoulder.
I stiffen. He knew. Of course he did.
"Yeah. It's up to her to decide." His dad answers.
It's up to me. What should I do?
-
"You should have told me." I sit on the passenger seat of Jungkook's car, eating together as we watch the stars sparkle under the moonlight.
He sighs, chewing on a French fry, "It wasn't my place to tell you."
I turn to him, "How about, 'hey what do you think about working for my dad?'"
Jungkook chuckles, "I didn't know how to tell you! But what matters here is," he swipes lightly his thumb over my lips, the ketchup stain now on his finger, "that you make a decision that makes you happy. Take your time, baby."
Baby.
I smile, my cheeks turning red as I hear him chuckle, "What?" I ask, not looking at him.
"You're cute." he responds.
"Stop it before I turn into a living tomato." I refer to my flustered red face as I cover it.
He tries to pull my hands away but the ding of his phone startles both of us.
He picks up his phone before reading a message before turning it off.
"Who was it?" I ask.
Jungkook responds, "Jean."
"Didn't you block him and Bree?" I inquire.
He nods, "They both somehow keep messaging me, trying to apologize but I've been ignoring them ever since," he shakes his head, "but that doesn't matter right now." He puts everything away quickly before turning on the car again, driving away.
A few minutes in silence are interrupted by his voice, "Let's go on our date tomorrow after class!"
I try to keep my cool, but he seems to know that I'm certainly not cool, "Let's go."
We both smile and hold our hands as we drive comfortably. Tomorrow will be our date.
Finally.
