29: Interruptive Conflictions

"Tell me again why I'm here?" I ask. Tay just shrugs and continues walking. Bob grunts and she tightens the handcuffs. She shoves him forward and forces him to continue on. She opens the van door and throws him inside. She slams the door and walks over the to front. I take the passenger seat.

"Andy said so. He said you should go see Remington and Emerson, who knows why?" She shrugs and starts the car. "Awsten and Vic will meet us there."

We drive out of the area and to the road. The low buzz of the car drives me crazy, and Bob in the back constantly grunting makes me want to shoot him.

"How are you holding up?" She asks softly. "I mean, this entire thing must be hell for you, but still. It doesn't hurt to talk about it."

I shrug. "I've met some great people from the agency and all that, but I guess- I'm scared that everyone's going to die because of me. What about all my friends? What about my family?"

"We have people there. You never even realized that there are at least three people watching every single friend you have. We have five people for every family member you have. We're being really careful about this, don't worry too much."

"But I should still worry?" I ask. "I mean, but the way you worded it, it sounded like I should still constantly worry."

"Of course. Worrying is what keeps us on edge. That edge is what keeps you alive."

I nod and lay my back against the seat. "What are the chances of someone dying because of this?"

She shrugs. "Depends on who it is. If you're talking about a field agent, not as much as the undercover agents."

"What about Vic?" I blurt out.

She glances at me. "He's strong. He's not dying any time soon. The rest of his team, all of them are the bravest people you'll ever meet, and I've only known them for a few months. Don't worry about them."

Then, out of nowhere, she slams the break. "Get out- GET OUT-" She screams, throwing the door open. I rush out, having no idea what's going on. She grabs Bob by the collar and drags him away. She leads me behind a brick wall. "COVER YOUR EARS!" She shouts. I do so, and wait.

An explosion goes off, and the boom is so sound, that if I hadn't covered my ears, I'd probably be deaf for the rest of my life.

A piece of the van flies over and lands at my feet. I glance at her and she gives me a serious look.

"Kellin, turn around," she speaks. I turn and gasp.

Sebastian smirks and walks over to us. Tay reaches behind her back and he lifts the gun in his hand. "Move, and I shoot, Mr. Bostwick," he speaks. Anger boils in my blood. Tay stops and puts her hands up. Bob takes that chance and rushes over to Sebastian.

Sebastian chuckles and turns to Bob. "What an idiot you are," he sighs. "I thought you'd be useful," he smiles. Bob lets out a soft gasp. Sebastian just laughs and grabs Bob by the neck, throwing him down.

"Sebast-"

Sebastian fires a bullet into the air, making me flinch. My back hits the brick and I feel my skin harshly brush against it.

Tay stiffens and moves slightly so that I'm behind her.

Sebastian cracks his knuckles and spins the gun with his index finger. "You see, life works in many different ways," he starts. "It only depends on who's holding the gun," he stares at his. "And who's cowering on the floor," he glares at Bob.

I gulp and bite my lower lip.

He sighs and lazily cocks a bullet into the chamber. "Well, this was fun," he shrugs. "By the way, Kellin. Your dad misses you," he speaks venomously. He turns and shoots Bob in the head. The shot rings out, and I gasp. Bob lifelessly limps against the ground. "See you around," Sebastian chuckles before walking off.

Tay immediately pulls her gun out and runs after him, leaving me alone, in front of a dead body. I begin to shake. My heart pounding. I whimper. My back slides down the wall and I hug my knees, burying my face in them.

"Kellin?" I hear Tay ask softly. She sighs and pats my shoulder. "It's okay," she mumbles. I look up and watch as she walks over to Bob. Checking for a pulse. She sighs angrily and walks back to me. "He's dead," she whispers.

She pulls out her phone and calls someone. "Sebastian showed up. He killed Bob," she sighs. She turns to me. "Kellin's alright, just shaken up."

I slowly move over to Bob's dead body. I thought I saw something earlier, or maybe I could just be crazy right now. I reach into his pocket and pull out a white card. Tay raises her eyebrow. I unfold it and gasp.

I'm going to make the car explode. Wait for me, and I'll get you.

He knew. Bob knew this whole time. I turn to Tay and show her the note. She groans and speaks it aloud. She walks over to the exploded car and sighs. "Yeah, I'd get here ASAP," she mutters frustratedly.

I purse my lips and stare at the dead body at my feet. At first, I felt terrified, but now, I just feel nothing. Maybe that was the point.

A car stops in front of us, and I stare at it. Tay sighs and pockets her phone. "Andy," she walks over to him. Awsten glances at me, and Bob. Vic rushes out the car and towards me.

"Are you okay?" He grabs my arms.

I shrug, taking a shaky breath. "Yeah. I think so."

He stops and blinks. He touches my shoulder and pain shoots up my arm. He walks over and gasps. "You're bleeding."

Awsten glances over and walks over, I notice his hand shaking beside his leg. "Kellin, are you okay?" He speaks. I shrug.

Vic groans and ushers me into the car. I watch as Andy and Awsten carry Bob into the trunk. I look back at Vic.

"Did Sebastian hit you?" He asks softly. I shake my head. "So, did you just get hurt from the wall?" I nod.

Awsten climbs in, sitting in the very back. Andy and Tay go to the front.

"Alright, we're going to see the brothers, Kellin and Vic, go to the nurse. I want Awsten and Tay with me, the second you're cleared, come over to us, got it?" Andy glances at Vic, who nods.

~~~
I wince as the lady bandages my shoulder. Vic stares at me as if he's waiting for something to attack me so he can protect me.
"How's that?" She asks. I move my arm slightly, the dull pain sticks, but other than that, it's alright. I nod and she gives me a light smile. "Alright, if there's anything else, feel free to come by."
I nod again and stand up. Vic sighs and leads me out. He brings me over to a room. He shuts the door and turns me around.
"Remington, what do you mean?" Andy asks, genuinely sounding confused. I glance at Vic. He shrugs and looks back.
"He said he would kill Emerson if I didn't go after Justin Hills and Nick Martin that day. He said he had a gun pointed to Emerson's head. I didn't need proof. I just went and did it because I can't lose my brother," Remington speaks, sounding rather annoyed.
I glance at Vic again. He sighs and grasps my hand.
"Why didn't you ask for proof?" Tay intervenes, sending him a cold glare. Emerson places both hands in his lap, biting his lower lip.
"Would you?" Remington asks. "He threatened my baby brother, I'd do anything to protect Emerson."
Andy and Awsten glance at each other, as if communicating.
"I'm going in," Vic speaks through the comms. Andy nods slightly and Vic pulls his jacket off. "You wanna join?" He turns to me. I shake my head. He gives me an understanding nod and walks in, he whispers something to Awsten.
Awsten walks out and over to me. "Hey," he slips into the chair. "How's the shoulder?"
"It's been better," I sigh and sit next to him. "This whole Remington thing is driving me mad. I want to punch him repeatedly, but at the same time," I look over at Remington, holding Emerson.
He pats my leg gently. "It'll be okay. I just... I'm starting to believe Remington, and the more I do so, the more confused I feel. It's like... I was fine with hating him and Sebastian, but now, it's like... The amount of hate I have for Sebastian is way too fucking much for my brain to handle."
I nod and look up at the interrogation. Emerson is in tears now, and Remington is gently wiping away tears. I see the love between those two. It automatically reminds me of Hudson.
"Alright, just... Last question," Andy sighs. "Could you face Kellin Quinn, right now?"
Vic and Tay both give him wild looks while Awsten sighs defeatedly.
I stand up and pain shoots through my shoulder, but I don't care. I watch as Remington goes pale.
"I-" he glances at Emerson, who just gives Andy an incredulous look. "No," Remington speaks softly. "I couldn't. Not after all the things that's happened to him. He- He never deserved any of it."
I clench my teeth and walk in. Everyone in the room freezes and stares at me. "Face me," I mutter. I walk over to him.
Vic stands up, and walks over to me, placing his hand on my back. Emerson glances from me to Remington.
Remington gives me a blank look. "If you want to punch me," he starts. "Just do it."
I scoff and cross my arms. "I won't punch you. I want you to face me."
He looks away and sighs. "I'm sorry, I never meant to-"
"Then tell me where I can find Sebastian," I speak bitterly.
He shakes his head. "I can't. He contacted me from a burner, I wish I could help you, I really do."
I take a deep breath. The anger in my blood fades out. I stare him down and he gives me a scared look. "Fine," I say, trying to control my emotions as best as I can. "I believe you."
