Sakura: Oh no! They escaped!

Manami: I can't believe those stupid birds fooled me like that!

Sakura: M..Manami, calm down o..okay?

Manami: Calm down? Oh I'll definitely calm down... ONCE I EAT THOSE DAMN BIRDS FOR DINNER!

Sakura: Oh dear....

As Sakura and Manami walk out the cage, the animal trainer comes running towards them. 

Trainer: What happened?! Wait! WHERE ARE MY GIGGLE BIRDS?!

Sakura: Umm... you know....

Manami: They escaped!  

Trainer: Escaped?! How?! WHAT WERE YOU USELESS NINJAS EVEN DOING?!!

Sakura: Sir, we're truly sorry about this. We were protecting your animals but...

Trainer: I can see how well you were doing that!

Manami: Listen mister! They were doing the job just fine! I was the one who accidentally electrocuted the birds. I thought they died but when I checked up on them, they instantly flew out! It's all my fault and I'm very sorry.

Trainer: I told you they were cunning! Their chakra nature is lightning so your jutsu just gave them more strength. They knew you had no idea about this so they pretended to be dead. All you had to do was take my warning seriously!

Naruto: She apologized. Move on already!

Trainer: It's not that simple! You don't know what's coming your way!

Sakura: What do you mean?

Trainer: These birds aren't just gonna fly away into the wild. They'll stay and make sure to terrorize this village.

Manami: Ok, aren't you exaggerating? 

Trainer: You! Stay silent! You have no right to dismiss anything I say!

Sakura: Sir, can you please tell us what's going to happen?

Trainer: Now you are interested! *Scoffs They have lightning chakra and they use it to kill their pray. Whatever creature they sit on, they send through a wave of electric shock which causes the pray to laugh uncontrollably, until they die of laughing. Hence the name.

Sakura: This is terrible! It means the entire village is at risk of being their victim! Is there an antidote of some sort?

Trainer: The effects ware off after about 24 hours but till then it's too late. The victim can be saved if we put them to sleep till the effects go away. But what are you going to do? Put the entire village to sleep for the whole day?

Naruto: If we have to! We need to report this to the Hokage right now!

Sakura: Yes! Everyone needs to be warned!

Manami: Guys, I'm so...so sorry. I should've been more careful!

Sakura: Yes Manami, you should've. But now's not the time to regret it. We need to act fast.

Manami nods and they all head to the Hokage's office.

Kakashi: *Sigh Just when I thought everything was going on smoothly.

Naruto: Now what?

Kakashi: I've already sent for all the ninjas available right now. We have to evacuate all villagers to the underground hideout. Since there are much more people in the village right now ,because of the festival, our priority is old and sick people. Others must seal themselves safe in their houses. A team will be dispatched that'll capture the birds ,while another will be in charge of putting the affected people to sleep. 

They all nodded. 

4AM...

Soon, everyone had arrived in the main hall of the building. Ninjas from other villages and their kages too.  Kakashi explains everything.

Kakashi: There's no time to waste! Begin this operation immediately. But remember, NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO HURT THOSE BIRDS.

Ninjas: Yes!

They all immediately disperse except for the kages and Manami.

Kakashi: Manami.

Manami walks up to him with her head held low.

Kakashi: Don't think you are off the hook so easily. I'll deal with you after this crises is over.

Manami: I understand....

Manami's thoughts: Why do I always mess up?

Manami leaves the office but is stopped at the entrance by Gaara.

Gaara: Manami!

Manami: Gaara...

Gaara: Are you okay?

Manami: Oh I just kinda put THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THIS VILLAGE IN DANGER! YOU TELL ME IF I'M OKAY!

Gaara: Manami, I know you messed up pretty bad. But you have to stop thinking about it and focus on the task at hand.

Manami: * Sigh I know... I'm just annoyed that I messed up so bad. Sorry for the way I spoke to you.

Gaara gives her a forehead kiss.

Gaara: Don't worry about it. We're going to fix this. Okay?

Manami nods with a small smile, and they both head to the meeting point of the capture team.

Gaara's thoughts: At this point, it's plain amazing the kind of troubles Manami gets herself into.

 ........................ Time skip

6AM

The sun began to rise. Most of the villagers had been evacuated but the sheer number of them was overwhelming. There was still not a single case of laughter yet. The trainer had informed them that these birds only hunt in daylight and hide at night. To prevent being detected, they literally stop the flow of chakra in their bodies and die for the night. This meant that their attack and the capture mission, both could only start at the daybreak. No clones were to be used by Naruto either since if even one went down, he'd go down with it.

Shikamaru: The sun's up! Lets begin!

And so the hunt began.

6:10 AM

First 60 cases of laughing ninjas came in the hospital. Number of captured birds, 2.

Sakura: This is bad! Hurry, bring them in!

6:20 AM

A Ninja runs into the hospital.

Ninja: An entire hideout has been affected! They need immediate help!

Tsunade: Bring them here at once!

Number of birds caught, 8.

The capture team is working in pairs. Manami and Gaara are running through a street, trying to find those cursed birds. They pass by a house and hear loud laughter coming from inside. They both look at each other and enter the house through a window. There, they find a young couple on the floor, dying laughing. Manami instantly uses her headset to inform the other team so they can come and take them away. 

Manami: Found anything?

Gaara: N..! Manami! Behind you!

Six of these birds are coming at her all at once. Luckily, Gaara was fast enough to shield both of them with his sand.

Manami: Why do I feel like they recognize me?

Gaara: At this point, I won't be surprised if they do.

Manami: We can't capture all of them. They are too fast.

Gaara: I know. If only we could slow them down.

Manami: I have an idea!

Gaara removes the sand shield.

Manami: Wind Spiral!

The birds become disorientated due to the strong wind and Gaara takes that opportunity to capture all of them.

Manami: Finally!

Gaara: Lets keep moving!

6:45AM

Birds captured, 14.

Ino, Sai, Tamari, Shikamaru, Gaara, Manami, Hinata and Naruto, along with several of other capture team pairs, meet in the middle of the village.

Shikamaru: We have already lost 200 of our ninjas.

Tamari: And only 14 of these birds have been captured.

Sai: Make that 16. He says as he captures two more on the roof of a house.

Naruto: We need to do this faster.

Hinata: But how? Even my Byakugun can't find them unless they strike us first!

Manami: There has to be a way. If we all go down then we are done for.

Kankuro: What if we... Ha..ha..ha... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Tamari: KANKU... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Manami: Move back guys! 

Everyone jumps away from the two.

Gaara: Where are they?!

Hinata: There are two hiding behind Tamari's fan! And four under Kankuro's robe!

Ino, Sai and Hinata instantly capture them. 

Shikamaru: 22 captured!

Gaara: They were hiding...

Manami: So that they'd be lead to more people!

Naruto: This is bad!

Just then, they hear Kiba's laughing cry. They turn around to see him running towards them, laughing like crazy.

Hinata: Kiba-kun!

Kiba: They....HAHAHAHA.....are comi.. HAHAHAHA.... LOTS OF THEM HAHAHAHAHAHA

Ino: What are you tryna say?

Shikamaru: I think we don't need to ask, LOOK!

They look up at the sky and see a large flock of them flying towards them.

Gaara: They are coming after us.

Shikamaru: Evacuate for now!

Everyone falls back and hides. But all the birds follow Gaara and Manami. Not being able to hide, Gaara protects both of them with his sand once more.

Gaara: Manami, I hope I'm wrong but I think these birds are after you!

Manami: Me?! But why?!

Gaara: They must think you're the reason they are being recaptured. 

Manami: Well then, let us reconfirm this!

Gaara: Wha...!

Manami uses her wind to make a hole in the sand and jump out, running in the opposite direction to everyone else. As expected, the birds followed.

Manami: So you want me then! BLAZING WIND!

Manami used even stronger wind to disorientate the entire flock but despite it working, at least 10 of them managed to get to Manami and shocked her all at once. Manami didn't give up and continued the raging winds. Gaara and others took this opportunity and captured every last one of the remaining birds except one, that was strongly holding onto Manami's arm and continuously shocking her. 

Manami's thoughts: Come on! A little longer.

At last, Manami couldn't do it any longer and fell to the ground with a seizure. Gaara ran up to her, pulled the last bird away, and held her in his arms.

Gaara: MANAMI!

Manami could barely open her eyes but she was still conscious. 

Manami: Gaara.... *Whispers

Gaara: What were you thinking?! Are you crazy?!

Manami: I... *Giggles..... *Giggles some more. Then begins to laugh. Louder and louder

Gaara: Manami...

Sakura: She got the worst of it all.

Gaara turns around to see Sakura walking towards him.

Gaara: What'll happen to her?

Sakura: She should be fine. But instead of a day, I'll be putting her to sleep for at least three days.

Gaara's thoughts: Manami, why did you get yourself in such trouble? You know I'm always scared of losing you, my love.

Gaara and Sakura took Manami to the hospital.
