First Dawn-to-Dusk

I'm being pushed out of my warm home, into the outside world. It's cold, so cold. Harsh fabric rubs against me as I cry and scream, everything's so cold, so rough. Noise explodes around me and I'm terrified. There's only ever been quiet sounds in my home, little noise, if any. Now sounds attack my ears as I come into the world.

Everything's warmer now; fabric is wrapped around me, holding me still in a little bundle. The blanket around me is so soft, it's comfortable. I feel my cries die down as I warm up and snuggle into my new home. I'm passed around and people are talking to me. It sounds weird, I've never heard anything like it before. I don't know what anyone is trying to tell me.

Finally I'm set down in someone's arms and I feel something against my nose. It's softer than the blanket, and gentle, rubbing slowly against my nose. I lift my eyelids and take in the world. There's a big face above me, and all I can see is their eyelids. It must be their nose rubbing against mine. The person holding me pulls back and I see big, blue eyes staring at me and a smile on their face. They have a lot of light brown hair moving around their face, and it looks like it goes past where I can see.

"Hy swte rnt u butifl." The person tries to speak to me, but I don't understand. It's just a jumble of letters to me.

"Guh?" She looks down at me confused before laughing. I don't think she understands me either. A hand rises above my face and I feel something on my cheek, their fingers. I'm moving again and I see a new face above me. This one is bigger, but their hair is shorter. It looks like a boy.

He reaches a hand out too, only this person takes my hand out of the warm bundle and holds it with his finger.

"ww wt a qt" This person is trying to talk to me too. His finger is really warm, so I try and tighten my fingers around it, but they're too small to do anything. Everything's so warm and comfortable. I'm getting sleepy. I'll just close my eyes for a minute.

My eyes open again to a window. I can see a reflection of a baby in a blanket being held by the man that held me earlier. That little baby must be me. Looking past the reflection and out the window, I see the sky. It's not blue though, it's orange. The sun is right next to the Earth, and the sky around it is almost blood red. This must be sunset, dusk, the going down of the sun. It must be late in the day for the sun to be going down. It's so pretty, and I can kind of see the man in the reflection smile.

"Gi!" I chuckle as I talk. The man won't understand what I'm saying, but he seems to realise I like the view, because his smile widens. I continue watching the sun until it finishes falling beneath the horizon. As the sun finally goes to it's bed beneath the Earth and the stars can be seen again, I close my eyes to sleep again. This first day, the day of my birth, has been amazing. No one can understand me, and I can't understand them, but at least everything is warm and comfy. So this, my first day, my first 'dawn-to-dusk' has been the best day of my life.
