Ziva was a marine, specialized in disarming bombs. She had a partner, Rico. One day they failed to see a secondary timer on a bomb. When they noticed, it was to late. It went off and Rico used his body to shield Ziva and he died. She was hurt and lost her hearing due to the explosion. But it did not stop her from becoming an Avatar. (Arriving on Pandora: May 19th year 2154) Ziva's POV

They say you don't dream in cyro, but I did. Of running through an alien forest, wild and free. I wake in my cyro pod after a nearly six year journey through space. My pod opens and a nurse appears. 'You ok?' she signs.

"Yeah, we there?" I ask as she checks my pulse. She nods her head. She gives me the all clear and unstraps me. I float over to my locker and see a familiar face. "Jake?" I ask surprised to see him. I thought his brother was coming to Pandora, hell I thought Jake was dead.

"Ziva, what are you doing here?" he asks quickly. To quick for Ziva to read his lips.

"You gonna have to slow down Jake, I'm deaf and can't read your lips if you talk to quickly" she tells him.

"Sorry" he says. "What are you doing here?" he asks her.

"Joined the Avatar program years ago. While I was still a marine, I did most of my studying online. You?" I ask curious.

"Tom died" he states.

"So you came to take over his Avatar?" I ask and he nods his head. "Well it's nice to see a familiar face" I tell him. As we head for the landing shuttle and get sits next to each other.

"You going to the safety briefing?" Jake asks as they look at each other.

"Nope, besides I won't be able to hear it anyway" I state. "I'll see you in the lab" I add. The ship begins to make it's descent to Pandora. I soon see the others putting exo-packs on. I grab mine and put it on as Jake does the same. I feel us land and see the crew chief speaking. Have no idea what he is saying.

The others start to que up as we landed. Jake gets a wheel chair. "Need help?" I ask him and he shakes his head. I grab my duffel bag as he pulled himself into his chair. He then grabbed his bag putting it on as the doors open. The others left before us.

The crew chief looks at us saying something. Jake starts to move his chair and I follow him. A truck taller then a house rolls by. I see arrows in it's wheels. Must be from the natives. I look around the compound and soon spot the fence. Beyond the outer fence stands a black wall of forest hundreds of feet high. The forest from my dreams.

I focus back on the path ahead. As Jake said something to two marines. We then enter the building. "See you later Jake" I state and he nods his head. He follows the others to the meeting room. While I follow signs to the linking room.

I arrive and see the containers the avatars are in have arrived. There are three of them. Suddenly a man appears in front of me. "Who are you?" he asks looking stressed.

"Ziva O'Neill, deaf Avatar driver" I state.

"Oh, that explains why you didn't answer" he states. "Dr. Max Patel" he says offering me his hand and I shake it. "I am in charge of over seeing the synchronizing the minds of humans with their avatars. I also provide technical advice and support to the Avatar Team" he explains.

"Pleasure, is Grace around?" I ask him. He nods at one of the link pods. "I see" I say as I see her face on a screen above the pod. She is clearly linked to her avatar currently, along with several other people. "May I see my avatar?" I ask Max.

"About to decant them" he tells me. "There's yours" he says pointing to one as the protective covers of the amnio tank. I see a female avatar body with an umbilical cord.

"She is beautiful" I state as I look at her. I'm a little uncomfortable that everyone can see her naked. But all avatars are naked in their amnio tanks. Once she is decanted, she will be covered in a hospital gown. Then once I've linked with her and down the necessary tests, I'll be allowed to get her dressed in proper clothes.

When I finally tear my eyes away from my avatar I see Jake and Norm had arrived. And are looking at their avatars. "Norm" I say happily and give him a hug. "Enjoy the flight?" I ask.

"Yeah, it was fine" he states. "Good to finally meet you in person" he adds.

"Same" I say. As Max gets Jake's to do his first video log. "Excited to meet our future boss?" I ask.

"Beyond excited" he states with a bright smile. "Your avatar is beautiful" he signs.

"Yours looks like you" I sign back. Just then Norm looks at Max and I do the same. He signals us to follow him. Guess it's time to meet our boss for the next five years.
