Kenneth Swan and Sasha Cullen
So I recently read Life and Death, by Stephenie Meyer. Which has inspired me to write this Twilight Fanfiction. It's about Bella's brother Ken (aka Kenneth) Swan and Edward's sister Sasha Cullen. So this story will be based on the novels, not the movies. Also Ken and Sasha will have a similar relationship to Beau and Edythe from Life and Death. But will have some difference. I hope you all enjoy this story.
(First Sight) Ken's POV
Hi everyone, I'm Kenneth Geoffrey Swan. Though I prefer to be called Ken. I have a younger twin sister Isabella Marie Swan, but she prefers to be called Bella. We're both pale with mum's ears. Except I have dad's dark brown almost black hair. Mum's blue eyes. I'm seventeen and six foot three inches. Bella is five foot four inches, has mum's hair and dad's chocolate brown eyes.
We used to live in Forks for the first three months of our life. Then our parents got a divorce and mum got custody of us. She took us back to California. While dad remained in Forks and became chief of police in Forks. When we were six we moved to Phoenix Arizona. Every summer we'd visit dad in Forks. Though for the last three years we vacation in California with him instead, as Bella found the climate in Forks unpleasant.
At a young age, Bella and I took over doing the house chores. Honestly it feels like sometimes we're the adults and mum is the child. During free time, Bella preferred to sit home and read, in part because she was extraordinarily clumsy. Her naturally responsible nature carried over into her schoolwork, where Bella was generally a straight A student. I am an average student, no where near as clumsy as Bella. But I do have some off days. When I have free time, I swim or go hiking. I love exploring nature. Dad would always take me on hikes when I visited Forks.
Anyway, when we saw how lonely mum was. We encouraged her to date. She meet Phil and fell in love. They got married. While Phil traveled around for his job, Renée stayed home with Bella and I. But we noticed mum is unhappy with this arrangement. We chose to move in with our father in Forks. So that mum could go on the road with Phil during baseball season.
So here Bella and I are, back in Forks. I've been given my own room. As we'll be here the next two years. Bella and I usually shared one over the summer. But Charlie converted the study into a bedroom for me. He also brought Bella and I truck to share. We were iffy at first, but fell in love with it when we saw it. We agreed to take turns driving it.
Today Bella and I will be starting at Forks high school. Forks High School had a frightening total of only three hundred and fifty-seven - now fifty-eight - students; there were more than seven hundred people in my junior class alone back home. All of the kids here had grown up together - their grandparents had been toddlers together. Bella and I will be the new kids from the big city. Oh joy.
One thing you should know about Bella and I. We never really fitted in with our peers. I guess it's because we are very mature for our aged and very independent. I'm also socially awkward and prefer to spend my time alone outside. Doesn't help that I didn't sleep well last due to the light rain hitting the window.
Breakfast with Charlie and Bella, was quiet. Charlie wished us luck on our first day of school. Bella thanked him, but I know his hope would do us no good. Good luck usually avoided Bella. But he didn't need to know that. It was impossible, being in this house, not to realize that Charlie had never gotten over our mom. It made Bella uncomfortable, along with myself.
We didn't want to be too early to school, but we couldn't stay in the house anymore. So we donned our jackets, which had the feel of a bio-hazard suit and headed out into the rain.I agreed to let Bella drive to school and I'd drive us home. I locked the house up while she started the car. She then drove us to school.
We went to the office first and got our schedules. We had every class together except we had two different science classes. While she had biology, I had chemistry. Which is fine with me, I like chemistry. Bella then followed the line of traffic to the student car park and parked the truck. I was glad to see that most of the cars were older like ours, nothing flashy. Aside from two shiny silver volvos.
Bella and I looked at our maps. Memorizing the best we could. Hopefully neither of us would have to walk around with it stuck in front of my nose all day. We found our first class no problem. Mr Mason signed our slips and sit us to the back of the class without making us introduce ourselves, thank god.
When the bell rang, a nasal buzzing sound, a gangly boy with skin problems and hair black as an oil slick leaned across the aisle to talk to Bella. "You both are Isabella and Kenneth Swan, aren't you?" he asks.
"Bella and Ken" Bella corrects him.
"Where's your next class?" he asks. Bella looks at me. I check my schedule.
"Government" I state putting it back in my bag.
"Right with Jefferson, in building six" Bella states looking at the boy.
"I'm headed toward building four, I could show you both the way" he states. "I'm Eric" he adds. Bella thanks him. We got our jackets and headed out into the rain, which had picked up. "So, this is a lot different than Phoenix, huh?" he asks. As I long around trying memorize the layout to memory while Bella answered him.
"Very" she states.
"It doesn't rain much there, does it?" he asks.
"Three, four times a year" Bella explains.
"Wow, what must that be like?" he wondered.
"Sunny" she tells him.
"You both don't look very tan" Eric states.
"Our mother is part albino" Bella states. I chuckle. Eric walked us straight to the door and wished us luck. The rest of the morning passed in about the same fashion. Our Trigonometry teacher, Mr. Varner, who I would have hated anyway just because of the subject he taught. Was the only one who made us stand in front of the class and introduce ourselves. I stammered, blushed, and Bella tripped over her own boots on the way to our seats.
After two classes, I started to recognize several of the faces in each class. There was always someone braver than the others who would introduce themselves and ask Bella questions about how we were liking Forks. She tried to be diplomatic, but mostly she just lied a lot. At least we never needed the map. They tried to talk to me, but I didn't really answer them. Not making eye contact. Bella told them how I am socially awkward with new people.
A girl from our trig and Spanish class lead us to the cafeteria. Only Bella went in. I climbed a tree and sat against the trunk. Taking out an apple from my bag. As I go to take a bite, I notice a group of beautiful people below heading for the cafeteria. There were six of them.
They didn't look anything alike. Of the three boys, one was big muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair. Another was taller, leaner, but still muscular, and honey blond. The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students.
The girls were opposites. The tall one was statuesque. She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back. The short girl was pixie like, thin in the extreme, with small features. Her hair was a deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction. The last was taller then the pixie like girl but shorter then the other girl. She has dark blonde hair, a slim but curvaceous figure.
And yet, they were all exactly alike. Every one of them was chalky pale, the palest of all the students living in this sunless town. Paler than Bella and I, the albinos. They all had very dark eyes despite the range in hair tones. They also had dark shadows under those eyes purplish, bruise like shadows. As if they were all suffering from a sleepless night, or almost done recovering from a broken nose. Though their noses, all their features, were straight, perfect, angular. But all this is not why I couldn't look away.
I stared because their faces, so different, so similar, were all devastatingly, inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you never expected to see except perhaps on the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine. Or painted by an old master as the face of an angel. It was hard to decide who was the most beautiful maybe the bronze-haired boy or the girl with dark blonde hair. She suddenly looks up at me and I freeze in awe. She just smiles before following the others into the cafeteria. Definitely the dark blonde girl. I wonder who they are?
I meet Bella after lunch. She told me about the Cullens. At least I know the name of them now and who is who. Sasha, what a beautiful name. When I went to chemistry while Bella has Biology. I notice Sasha is in my class. As I passed her to walk to the front of class, she went rigid. Mr Spaans signed my slip and directed me to sit beside Sasha.
When I sit beside her, I offer her a small smile. Expecting one back like from earlier. Except she looks furious. I look away confused. Did I do something wrong? I notice her leaning away from me, averting her face like she smelt something bad. I smell my shoulder, but I only smell pine and the faint smell of strawberries from my sister's hair.
We did physical chemistry. A branch of chemistry that investigates how substances behave on an atomic or molecular level. I had already studied it, but take notes anyway. I couldn't sop myself from peaking at the girl beside occasionally. During the whole class, she never relaxed her stiff position on the edge of his chair, sitting as far from me as possible. The class seemed to drag on longer than the others.
I peek at her one more time towards the end of class. To see her glaring up at me. Her black eyes full of revulsion. I flinch back shocked. At that moment, the bell rang loudly, making me jump, and Sasha Cullen was out of her seat. Fluidly she rose her back to me, and she was out the door before anyone else was out of their seat.
"Aren't you Kenneth Swan?" a feminine voice asks me as I pack my bag.
"Ken" I correct her absentmindedly.
"I'm Jessica" she states and I nod my head. "Do you need any help finding your next class?" she asks me.
"I'm pretty sure I can find gym on my own" I state as I shoulder my bag.
"That's my next class, too" she says thrilled. I sigh, knowing she won't leave me alone. So I let her walk with me to the gym. We went to the separate locker rooms and I got changed. Before going to join Bella. To discover we're doing volley ball. It wasn't so bad. After class Bella and I went to the office to return our signed slips.
To see Sasha and Edward arguing with the receptionist. They were trying to swap classes. Ok I get why Sasha would want to swap, but why Edward? I then notice the look on my sister's face. Oh, she must of had a similar experience with him as I had with Sasha in Chemistry. I'd talk to her about it later.
The door opened again, and the cold wind suddenly gusted through the room, rustling the papers on the desk, swirling Bella's hair and rustling mine. Both Sasha and Edward stiffen and glared at us. I glare at Edward, no one glares at my sister.
"Never mind, then" Edward tells receptionist.
"We see it's impossible" Sasha adds.
"Thank you so much for your help" Edward adds and they left. Bella and I handed out signed slips in. The receptionist asked how our first days went? We both lied saying 'fine'. Bella hands me the truck keys and we go to the car park. I drove us back to the house.
