It had been a week.

A week and no new text message from an unknown number.

Jungkook took a deep breath in, trying to make sense of it all. It made sense to him that maybe Jimin was compassionate enough to not torture him like this, but apparently that wasn't the case.

Maybe he truly wasn't ready to try and talk to him. Jungkook didn't know if this was somehow a test. Should he show up at the café? Should he request his Instagram? Should he wait just as he was told to do?

It was night already and his day had been spent at the bar for the third day straight waiting for those two to show up: nothing.

Now he has come out of his second shower, finally getting rid of the smell of cigarettes from his hair.

Towel on his hair and simple pajama pants with no shirt, Jungkook looked ready to go to bed.

"Hey," Taehyung pops his head out of his room, looking around and seeing the coast clear he turns back to Jungkook, "Wanna go smoke pot at the bakery's storage over in fifth street?"

Jungkook shakes his head as he lets it fall, walking towards his room. "I'm not feeling it."

"Come on man~" Taehyung grabs his arm and pulls him away from his room's door. "We haven't done anything in over a week—since your birthday! Has your soulmate birth softened you up?"

Jungkook shakes his best friend's hand off of him, lazily as he was feeling tired. "I just want to go to bed, can't you let me do that at least?"

"Who goes to bed at ten?"

"Normal people."

"We aren't normal." Taehyung laughs but it ceases quickly at Jungkook's statement.

"Well, I wish we were."

Taehyung furrows his eyebrows and grabs onto Jungkook's arm again. "Hey, just... we don't have to go out. Do you wanna talk?"

Jungkook thinks about it but realizes talking about anything that is bothering him will just probably make things worse. He realizes Taehyung never forced him to talk to Yoongi about his suicide attempt and he didn't know if he should be glad or worried about that fact. "I really just want to go to be—"

Their front door opens and the two are quick to snap out of whatever train of thought they had as they watch their guardian be basically dragged inside.

"Jesus, Yoongi." Taehyung is quick to help the man that carries his guardian as they lay him on the couch.

"Sorry boys, I couldn't stop him from taking the whole bottle of whiskey." The familiar man laughs and Jungkook can't help but walk over to dab up his guardian's friend.

"Hey Namjoon."

"Where are your manners?" The older chuckles as he playfully punches his shoulder. "Oh, new tattoo since the last time I saw you!"

The youngest raises the hand he's staring at as he shakes his hand in disbelief. "I don't like how good you are at noticing things."

"Hey, you know how I am with details—Hmm, simple as always. J for Jungkook." Namjoon clicks his tongue in disapproval. "Stop getting so many tattoos boy, one day you two are gonna be out this life and you'll be the one who can't get a job."

"That's a stereotype, how disappointing from you Hyung." Taehyung giggles as he goes over to the kitchen, opening their fridge. "Want anything?"

"I'm good, thank you though." Namjoon blows the strand of hair that had fallen on his face away. "At least stop it with the hands."

"See you bleached your hair." Jungkook crosses his hands over his chest. "How are you gonna get a job with that?"

"As clever as that sounds," Namjoon takes a seat across from the passed out Yoongi, "I already have a job, and you know that."

"Damn, you haven't gotten fired?" Taehyung laughs as he opens a bottle of beer for himself. "That's surprising."

"I may be a klutz, but I'm very good at what I do."

Jungkook scoffs as he sits on the floor in front of him. "Yeah, data collecting—Woo, so cool."

"Don't mock me you brat."

"Careful," Taehyung drinks from his beer, "you're sounding like Yoongi now."

"Well that's what I get for hanging around him so much." Namjoon sighs again as he throws his head back onto the couch. "If you don't mind boys, dealing with your dad here—"

"Not our dad." The two youngest say in unison.

"—Is exhausting and I don't want to have to drive back an hour to my house. I'm gonna spend the night here."

"Sure man," Taehyung puts down his drink and points over at his guardian's room. "You know his room, you can sleep in there."

"Yeah, he deserves to sleep on the couch. We know what it's like to deal with him drunk." Jungkook yawns and he waves himself off. "If you'll excuse me, I was just about to go to bed."

"Yeah me too." Taehyung lies but now he really didn't have a choice. "Sleep well Hyung."

"Night guys." Jungkook sees Namjoon stand up, probably to go to Yoongi's room, as he closes his door and gets in bed.

Before Jungkook can even start getting ready to go to bed, he receives a text.

Tae
I'm always here for you Kook

I know

The boy turns on music on his new PC, lowering it so it's barely hearable. He climbs into bed after taking off his pants—Who wears pants to sleep? It gets hot for the poor boy under the covers and if he doesn't sleep with covers, he fears the demons under his bed will get him. And that is a reasonable motive.

Grabbing his phone and plugging it to charge, his eyes go wide at the notification on his phone.

Unknown Number
Hey, it's Jimin.

The boy is quick to sit up and make a new contact, taking a screenshot from his Instagram and setting it as his profile picture as fast as he could and replies faster than he has ever replied to anyone.

Hey

Well, now you have my number

I sure do

Cool

Well this was awkward. What should he say? He hasn't tried to get to know anyone in so long. Not since probably junior high.

What's your favorite color?

Is that a serious question?

Dude I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone in so long, I'm trying my best

🙄
Blue and black

I like black too

Yeah that's sort of how soulmates work

I didn't know it related to things we like

What did you think it related to?

I didn't believe in it so, I didn't think much of it
Does that mean you smoke cigarettes?

I don't

Oh
Then what does it relate to?

Google it

Oh come on Jimin, I'm just trynna have a conversation here. I mean, how much do we have in common?

Probably a fair amount of things

And I suppose you're too bitter to share that with me?

I don't like texting people I don't know

Then can we meet up and talk?

Jungkook sees the typing bubble appear then disappear, getting frustrated as he sees it doing it again. Stop stuttering. Why, if he was ready to talk, would he be this monotone with him?

If it'll stop you from pestering me about it, then sure
Does tomorrow work for you?

It does. Noon?

Sure. Let's just meet at the café

Okay

Well
Good night Junkook

Good night Jimin

The boy sighs in content, letting his head flop back down to his pillow as he sets an alarm for the morning. A soulmate. Who would have thought Jungkook would ever have one? He didn't, and he felt like all of this was just a dream from how perfect it was

Of course, to Jimin this was nothing but perfect. It was merely mediocre.

1 New message From Tae

I know you're trying to sleep but I'm worried about you

You don't need to be
I'm fine

Are you going to talk to Yoongi?

I don't want him to worry

I think it'd be the fair thing to do
Ya know
Telling him

I'm not gonna go kill myself Tae
I'm fine

Sure
Then start taking care of yourself
Look the part of someone that isn't sad

Wym?

Look in the mirror prick
Night

Jungkook frowns as he turns on his light, turning on his camera onto selfie mode and inspecting.

Really looking at himself, he noticed the bags under his eyes, his damaged hair with split ends, and the way his eyes just looked dull.

Maybe he did need to take better care of himself. He would start tomorrow, to look presentable for Jimin.
