Without even a moment for Jungkook to process what Jimin had said, Taehyung walks into the coffee shop and sits next to Jungkook.
"Hey Kook, hiya there, I'm Taehyung."
Jimin chuckles as he extends his hand to shake Jungkook's friend's hand, "Jimin."
"Oh I know, we stalked you on Instagram."
Jimin turns to Jungkook, his eyebrows furrowing. "My account is on...private."
"Yeah, he's joking." Jungkook kicks Taehyung under the table and looks at him with a forced smile, "He's just heard about you from me."
Jimin side-eyes the boy, knowing he was lying, before turning to Taehyung with a smile. "So you're his brother then?"
Taehyung knows his expression shows everything as he goes, "Bitch, what?" towards Jungkook, and the youngest laughs. "I am not your brother, the least I'm your roommate."
"You take a bullet for me and won't even claim yourself as my brother?" Jungkook crosses his arms as he huffs, "Yoongi is right, you're ungrateful. After all that I've done for you—"
"After all you've—" Taehyung turns to Jimin with an innocent smile, gritting his teeth. "Jimin Hyung, I have done so much for Jungkook, I have changed his clothes when he couldn't even walk cause he was a little baby when we picked him off the streets. I stood next to you in the shower to make sure you wouldn't—"
"What are you doing here?" Jungkook asks as calmly as possible since Jimin is already chuckling at his blush. "I didn't ask you to follow me when I told you not to call me, right?"
"Listen you prick, you have never once woken up so early, brushed your hair, did skincare, eaten breakfast, and woken someone else up in one morning. I was worried."
Jimin looks up at Jungkook's hair, "It does look nice."
The youngest looks down as he tries to hide his smile, "T-Thanks."
"Anywho, Jimin," Taehyung points at him as he looks around, "Where's your friend?"
"Home..." The blond chuckles, "Do you remember his name?"
Taehyung looks pensive before he shrugs, "Not a clue."
"His name is Jung Hoseok. Did you want to see him?"
The younger frowns as he shakes his head, "No? I just asked where he was. You two seem close so I thought he'd be here, but clearly, this was just a Jikook thing."
Jungkook turns to look at him, confused, "I'm sorry?"
"Jimin and Jungkook... Jikook? You're at a loss man. Anywho," Taehyung stands up and grabs his things, "I guess I should leave you guys alone."
"Please." Jungkook sighs before the back of his head get smacked and he watches his best friend leave, back slumped. When he turns to Jimin, he had been smiling towards Taehyung's direction. "What are you smiling about?"
"He just seems like the type to be Hobi's soulmate." The boy grabs his phone to text his best friend . Jungkook just looks even more confused than before.
"Taehyung hasn't met his soulmate." Jungkook seems in thought. "He would know."
"How did you know we were soulmates?" Jimin asks as he puts his phone away. "Feeling?"
"Well, no, you burned your hand and my hand hurt, and then I pinched myself..." Jungkook then remembers how Taehyung banged his knee against the desk then sneezed very loudly that day they met Hoseok. "Oh..."
"You can't tell him though, Hobi wants to make it special." Jimin's smile brings ease to Jungkook's nerves, making his tense shoulders fall.
The younger fidgets with his hands, averting his eyes away from his soulmate. He wanted to ask Jimin about himself, what his ambitions were, and all of his favorites. He didn't really know how to ask though, especially from this type of conversation that didn't have anything to do with either of them.
"So Jungkook..." Jimin grabs onto his cup of coffee and drinks from it. "What do you like to do in your free time?"
Jungkook's tension eases and he is able to answer with no anxiety. "I play a lot of video games. I also draw. When I was younger I liked messing around with cameras but now I don't have one so I don't anymore." The younger points at Jimin, "What about you Hyung?"
The blond shrugs, "Other than dancing, not much. I dedicated my whole life since I was in fifth grade to dance. I never really found anything else I liked..."
That made Jungkook feel even worse than before. His whole life? Now he really felt like a jerk.
"I do listen to a lot of music."
Jungkook's eyes widen, "M-Me too! What kind of music do you listen to?"
"I listen to everything really. Pop, rock, classical, contemporary, foreign--"
"Foreign! Do you like Joji?"
Jimin smiles, he can't help but notice this is practically the first time he's seen Jungkooks smile. It was almost like watching a child be excited over toys or a tv show. "I do. Dancing in the Dark is my favorite."
Jungkook claps his hands and pulls out his phone, "I've always wanted to do this, hold on!" He grabs onto his headphones from his pockets, untangling them as he then connects him to his phone.
"What exactly are we doing?"
The tattooed boy plugs in the headphones to his phone and hands one side to Jimin, "Listening to music we both like. You add one song to play next, then me, then so on until we find new music for each other."
Jimin frowns but takes the earbud being offered, leaning over the table as Jungkook places his earbud in, it falling out. The older sighs and moves his chair so the two sit next to each other. "How about Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles?"
"Mainstream, but good." Jungkook puts it on and scrolls through his playlist, looking for a good song to play next. He chooses one to play next and Jimin can't help but feel like he recognizes all the names but doesn't actually know them.
Right, soulmates.
Jungkook is grumbling to himself, "Not good enough, could be, no..."
"Jungkook," Jimin frowns but still smiles as he picks a random song on his playlist to play next. "We'll be here for a while, you don't have to think so hard as if it's the last time I'll ever listen to your music."
The younger looks away as he nods, "R-Right, sorry."
"You don't have to apologize either."
"So... Um... okay." Jungkook realizes what song Jimin picked up next and feels a bit uneased that the song that's coming up next will be heavy metal compared to Jimin's pop song."
The two sit there in mostly silence. They exchange song names to play next for a good ten minutes, Jimin's reactions not satisfying the younger, and Jungkook's taste not impressing the older.
But then, came on one of Jungkook's pick and Jimin's eyes widened. He taps on Jungkook's screen to read the name and he starts laughing.
"For months I've been hearing this song in my head over and over again, never had a clue where I heard it or how I knew of it, even tried googling it cause I loved the melody. It turns out it was you!"
Jungkook smiles, Finally, a song he likes. Of course, it was I Hear A Symphony, this seems like the type of music Jimin would dance to as well. "Say, Hyung, do you produce any of the music you dance to? Sometimes I get random beats stuck in my head, so I was wondering..."
The blond shakes his head, "Not really, not me at least. Hobi produces music and sometimes he'll show me demos of his songs that got rejected at work and asks if I'd like them for music. Nine times out of ten they become a new track for me to choreograph."
Hobi. Great, the guy has a cute nickname to go with his entire personality. Jungkook wondered if Hoseok was a true competition or not given that Taehyung was his soulmate.
Jimin smiles as the song comes to an end. "Can you send me this song through text? I'd like to add it to my playlist."
"Yeah." Jungkook presses on the three dots and just as the link is sent to Jimin's number, the song that plays next, has him paralyzed.
"I ponder of something great, My lungs will fill and then deflate—"
"You listen to Twenty One Pilots?"
"Not all of their music, but a lot of their music resonates with me."
Jungkook's heart dropped. He didn't know what it was about Jimin also knowing this song but, Jungkook hadn't heard it in so long. Not since...
"You okay?"
Jungkook shakes his head and pulls a fake smile to his face. "Yeah." He clears his throat and puts down his phone. "Um, did you want to do something?"
Jimin frowns because the sudden change in attitude was unexpected, and he can feel the sadness each lyric creates in Jungkook's mind. As much as his logic wanted to say no and to just end their meeting, his soul told him to say yes in order to make the younger feel better. "What did you have in mind?"
The thug thinks for a second, looking away as he runs his fingers through his hair, Jimin looking away as well, for other non-concentrating reasons. The younger smirks and pauses the music.
"How comfortable are you with trains?"
