Toyota T100 (1992-1998)

In the 90's Toyota wanted to join the full size pickup market in the NA and Canadian Market but there was a problem. The problem was The big 3 Ford, Dodge and General Motors were dominating the full size truck segment. So Toyota had to design and create a truck to compete with the big 3. They decided to take a Toyota Pickup (Hilux) and make it a little bigger and have 4 engine options. When it was released it didn't sell as well as they hoped it would. One of the big factors of why it didn't do so well was because it lacked a V8 engine. The other factors were that is was to small to appeal to buyers (its the size of the 2nd gen Tacoma), the V6 had environmental concerns and little horsepower compared to the competition. But dispute its unpopularity it got the best awards any truck could get. It got the Internal Quality award in (92), the Best of What's new award, and all 3 JD Power Quality awards in (97). This is also the predecessor to the Toyota Tundra.
