Once the Hilux stoped being built in Japan it was still designed there. This gen of Hilux just like the Tacoma had a major redesign. The cab and body were changed. The truck is a little bigger then the previous generation Hilux. They also redesigned the front and rear of the truck. This is also the first gen with the new D-4D Diesel motor and the new VVT-i motor. They also updated the I4's and V6 motors same with the Diesel.
