The Hilux became a hit in the Global market. But when you creat a new vehicle you need to update it a bit. That's what Toyota did with the 2nd Gen Hilux. The took some things away and added a few things. This gen of Hilux was renamed Toyota Pickup for the NA Market but kept the Hilux name everywhere else.

2.0L 18R I4 (73-78) - 87hp and 107lb-ft of torque
- For only the NA Market
2.0L 18R SOHC I4 (73-74) - 108hp and 112lb-ft of torque
2.2L 20R SOHC I4 (75-78) - 96hp and 119lb-ft of torque

They added two more transmission options to this year of truck
