Chapter Ten

The Changewing watched the exchange between the human and dragon, he was intrigued. His green and red coloring faded to match the cool browns and rich greens of the flora behind him; his tail twitching as his two long antennas; or horns, maybe even whiskers, blew in the soft breeze. He took a step closer; slinking through the shadows, his claws sinking into the leaf litter. Too easy. I'm awesome! He grinned cheekily; rising up behind the human, and grabbing him, watching as the boys gaze lit with alarm; and the Storm Fury whipped around, showing her teeth. Oops... He cringed, dropping the kid, and scrambled backwards. Hissing. "Aye! Aye! Chill! I wasn't going to hurt him!" Altostratus took a step forward, her eyes narrowed. "You took him, for one." The Changewing gasped. "I would never! Anyway–B-before you uh–kill me? The names Leopare." He twitched his wings back, seemingly fading from existence; before pinning the Storm Fury. "Bonsai!" I don't know what that means, but I say it means bye! He snorted a puff of smoke; spluttering as the Fury shoved him off. "Okay; okay. I give up. Spare me, 'O great dragon." Carloa turned from the Changewing to his own dragon. "Altostratus, please. He didn't mean harm–" Both dragons silenced; turning slowly. "See?! The uhhhh. Pink thing understands my humor! I was a comedian in my flock. Wanna hear my best joke? I have great stories, and–" He broke off from his supposedly inspiring speech, Carloa had stared at him in confusion, and Altostratus just rubbed her face with a paw; sitting back; before hopping across to stand beside her rider; glaring. "I aught to end you now; before I have to listen to your annoying words..." Leopare gasped; his scaly palm held to his chest as he fluttered his wings. "I'm deeply offended! Perhaps I'll go talk to some trees! They listen to me." By now; Altostratus had wandered off; leaving the Changewing "Comedian" and Carloa alone to have a supposed "chat". It mainly consisted of Leopare's chitters and clicks; and Carloa nodding as if he actually understood a single word. He supposed the dragon was attempting to dignify its actions. "And then, I found you. You guys looked fun. Well–you did at least. Not the grey dragon...I actually am clueless as to why I am here, following a tiny creature, which is you, if you couldn't tell. Are you even listening to me?" The green dragon moved to a tree, shifting his scales to the light colors of the tree. "Aye! Grey dragon! Uhm...Never mind." He shut up; entertaining himself by tossing bark onto the ground; his tentacle-like face protrusions sweeping across the ground. A pinecone sailed over the child's head; and he looked up; ducking the second time; and tossed it back, hitting Leopare squarely on the nose. Probably deserved that, but meh. We all need entertainment. You happen to be my victim of torture. He grinned cheekily, his amber eyes narrowed. I can't leave you alone now.
