❇️Late Nights

"Hey, you two still awake?" You hissed through the slight opening of Toko and Nika's bedroom door, wrapping lightly on the door frame.

There was a short pause before Nika's voice drifted out to you. "Yeah, we're awake."

"Can I come in?" You asked them, ears straining for any sounds that would alert you any one of your family members approaching.

"Sure," Toko agreed, and without wasting anytime you slipped inside the twin's shared darkened bedroom.

"'Sup guys?" You grinned, relieved that your mum hadn't caught you disturbing your youngest two siblings after they had already been sent to bed.

"What's wrong Y/N?" Nika frowned as you went and sat over on the foot of Yoko's bed.

"I've got something for you guys," you admitted, making sure to keep your voice low as you jerked your head for you to joint yourself and Toko.

Nika slipped out of bed, and you suppressed several 'awwing noises at the adorable Eevee onsie she wore, as well as Toko's Pikachu one when he sat up in bed and scooted closer to you and his other sister.

"It's like a tradition yeah? I always get you two something before I go back to Spain, and I'm going back there tomorrow, sooooo..." You trailed off, shrugging.

"Why not wait until tomorrow morning?" Nika wondered, before Toko quickly backtracked on her behalf.

"Not that we mind of course."

You gave them a small half smile. "Being on one of the best teams in the league has it's perks, especially when you're one of there best Bladers. One of those perks is the paychecks that mum keeps telling me not to spend on you guys, but it's my money, right?"

"So basically if mum saw you'd be in trouble." Toko accurately summed up.

"Damn right I would be," you nodded furiously, not caring if it dropped your 'big tough teen' act. "And that woman can be downright terrifying."

Despite your fear, you had to chuckle when the twins nodded vehemently.

"So anyways, present time." You announced in a loud whisper, giving them the jazz hands.

"What about Shu, Valt and Xander?" Nika frowned, wondering about the others.

"Valt's getting his tomorrow, and it's one mum can't complain about, I took Shu to get Spryzen evolved, and I'll be giving Xander his new launcher tomorrow morning before getting on the plane." You explained, grabbing their two carefully wrapped gifts from where you had them hidden beneath your jacket. "Do me a favour and don't start using these until after I've left, yeah? I don't need mum after me."

The two of them giggled, agreeing to your terms, and when you were certain they were serious, you handed them the two parcels.

"Open your's first." You whispered to Toko who nodded, and began to quietly of undo the sticky tape instead of shredding the paper so no one came to investigate.

"I know you love Beyblade, just like Valt and me." You said quietly while he unwrapped his present. "You're Blader's Spirit is strong Toko, and one day you're going to do big things."

"What does that have to do with this?" He asked you, pausing in his task.

"Well you can't exactly do all of that with a cheap Roktavor can you?" You shrugged, motioning for him to continue. "Don't get me wrong, Honcho's good and all. But his Roktavor is above the cut, your one is for kids who are just starting out. Me and Valt were way younger than you when you got your Beys, so..."

You abruptly cut yourself off, lips curling into a grin at Yoko's shocked gasp.

"Y/N–" he bit out, barely able to surpress the excitement you saw shining brilliantly in his dark green eyes.

"It's name is Spiral Treptune," you informed him, laughing as your very enthusiastic sibling launched himself at you in a tight hug.

"What's wrong?" Nika asked immediately when she picked up on your quiet grunt of pain.

"What do you mean?" You pretended to not know what she was speaking about.

"Y/N?" Toko gave you a concerned look as he backed off from you, worried that he had hurt you.

"Hey, it's fine." You assured him with a wide, honest smile. "Really, I am."

"So what was that about?" Nika needled you, folding her arms, and you'd never realised how condescending a seven year old could manage to look.

"Okay okay, I took a tumble a few weeks ago and banged up my shoulder pretty badly." You reluctantly admitted, not wanting to show weakness in front of two of your three siblings who looked up to you, knowing at the same time that they would refuse to let up on the matter until you spoke.

"But you've been Blading so much since them," Nika worried.

"Not really, if you think about it." You pointed out, acting nonchalant. "I've had one battle with Lui and a couple with Valt, Xander, and you two."

"Yeah, but Valt said your battle with Lui was really intense." Toko added, stress and concern for your wellbeing prominent on both he and Nika's features.

"Look, the doctor cleared me for battle before I even came here." You confided in them. "But I can't battle competitivley for at least another few months."

"But that means..." Nika trailed off quietly, not wanting to finish the thought.

"I can't battle in the World Leagues," you confirmed with a heavy sigh, the thought bringing a blanket of sadness down to wrap itself around you.

"Does... That mean you can stay longer?" Toko asked hopefully, and Nika jumped in.

"That's what I want for my present."

"I'm sorry guys," you told them regretfully, not at all enjoying the way in which their faces fell with disappointment. "My team manager wants me back on time so I can hell out with team tryouts and training. She already gave me as much time here as she could."

"That sucks," Nika huffed, pouting as she refused to look at you.

"I know," you nodded, pulling her and your brother both into your sides, hugging them protectively. "That's the worst part about being away all the time, missing you all so much."

"Then why don't you come home?" Toko challenged, a slight glare on his face.

"Because I love it," you confessed. "Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but this is dream come true."

"But we never get to see you." Nika scowled, and you squeezed your only sister just that little bit tighter.

"I know, don't you think I think about how much I miss you all every single day?" You told them, trying to get them to understand. "But this is the only thing I've ever wanted, and I've worked for it every day since I was three years old."

"That's along time," your sister observed.

"And coming back home would be like giving up, wouldn't it?" Toko said softly, and you nodded.

"It isn't forever, but when I'm gone, it's you guys cheering me on back home that makes me want to keep going. I'm never going to give up when I've got you all behind me, wanting me to fight hard and do my best, I'll never stop trying."

"We're proud of you sis." The said in unison, doing their twin speak thing that they only seemed to do occasionally, successfully managing to bring tears to your eyes.

"Thanks you two," you sniffed, taking your hand away from Nika to wipe away the forming tears. "I'm proud of you too, every single day. You're growing up into amazing people."

There was a long pause while you tried to get yourself back under control, and when you were certain that you could speaking without your voice cracking and get rating you, you spoke once more.

"Now, enough of this mushy stuff. You still need to open your gift Nika."

"Oh right," she exclaimed, before you and Toko shushed her, reminding her to keep the noise down.

Blushing, she began to open her own present in the same manner that her brother had before her.

"I know you're not as into Bey's as the rest of us are, and that's totally okay. We're not gonna hate you for it." You said conversationally, chuckling quietly when her eyes snapped fearfully to your own.

"I do like it." She protested.

"But it's not something you'd make a career out of." You countered, cocking a brow. "Which is why I got you something else, something you won't have to share with Toko."

She finally tore the last scrap of wrapping paper from her present, and once again, you and Toko found the need to shush her as she gasped loudly.

"Y/N, this is too much–"

"Oh be quiet would you? You sound just like mum." You rolled your eyes playfully while Nika continued to gape down at the box that boasted one of the latest, top of the line tablets to hit the market.

"Shu, Xander, Valt and Toko all got something, so do you."

"But this–"

"Is the perfect gift for my genius little sister, who promises to take very good care of her present?" You guessed, giving her a pointed look.

"I promise to be careful," she swore, determination evident in her orange eyes.

"That's what I like to hear." You said, ruffling her brightly coloured hair. "Geez I'm going to miss you guys."

"We'll miss you too." The said together.

"Text me every day while I'm away?"

"And a phone call twice a week."

That night, after presents had been stashed under beds, you snuck the twins over into your bedroom. Let's just say that Chiharu Aoi was pleasantly surprised the next morning, when she went to wake you, and instead found not one, but three of her four children snuggled up together in your bed.

Because there are some bonds that time nor distance cannot break.
