THE THREE MADE IT TO THE JUNK YARD. At some Steve slipped on black sunglasses Chris hated so much. Steve sighed with a slight squint, looking over the abandoned field. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, this will do," Steve nodded, taking off his glass for a moment. "This will do just fine." Steve threw some meat down walking on, "Good call, dude." Steve encouraged Dustin.
"Finally!" A voice called out, the three looked over to a pile of large metal sheets. There stood Alex and Miya. "We thought we could use this!" Miya continued, as the other three walked toward them.
"Weren't waiting long were you?" Chris asked pulling Miya to her side.
"Barely a minute" Alex spoke shrugging. "These were already here" Alex explained nodding to the metal sheets. "Miya just wanted to show off."
Dustin and Steve dumped the remaining meat into a pile, just a few meters from the abandoned bus. "I said medium-well!" Lucas yelled pushing his bike over the hill. Max walked alongside him with her arms crossed. Chris waved at her and she did a small wave back smiling at her.
"Who's that?" Steve asked looking at Dustin. When he didn't answer his eyes sunk in realization.
"Hey Max, come here!" Chris yelled, Chris looked back at Dustin her stomach swirling. Max jogged over to her and the others, while Dustin and Lucas ducked behind a car. "This is Alex and Miya," Chris quickly introduced. "Do you wanna help Alex bring stuff to the bus?" Chris asked and Max nodded. "Miya and Steve can upgrade it," Chris spoke.
"Who made you the leader?" Steve asked slipping the stupid sunglasses back on, "And what will you do?" Chris reached over ripping the glasses from Steve making Max giggle.
"Gasoline-" Chris slipped on the glasses, "-Baby." Chris smiled passing the backpack to Steve letting him hold it as she pulled the cans of gasoline out.
"Hey, my sunglasses!" Steve whined, watching Chris walk to the boys. Chris looked over her shoulder pulling the glasses down enough to wink at him.
"Hey! You boys!" Chris called scaring the two boys she took Steve's glasses off tossing them somewhere. "Can you help please?" Chris asked leaning against the car. "We'll lose light soon and we need to do this quick." Dustin and Lucas nodded standing up.
"What do you need?" Lucas asked.
"I'll help the others, Lucas you help Chris," Dustin instructed walking over to Steve.
"Why me? She's your sister!" Lucas asked flailing his arms. "No offence Chris," Lucas added to which Chris smiled.
"She has powers she's got to explain, you gotta catch her up on last year!" Dustin yelled running over to Steve.
"Oh yeah, I saw them in the AV room," Lucas remembered clicking his fingers. Lucas took one of the gasoline bottles from Chris's hand and walked to the pile of meat Steve and Dustin laid out. "Has Dustin told you about last year?"
"Nope," Chris said shaking her head. "Steve told me that he, Nancy and Jonathan fought a Demogorgon, which is a larger version of Dart. And that Joyce and the Cheif know about everything."
"Close, but Alex and Miya were with them," Lucas pointed out. "Miya went with Nancy and Steve and Alex stayed with us when Brenner came to take El. Brenner was-"
"Head of Hawkins lab," Chris nodded. "Had to get my powers from somewhere."
Lucas laughed slightly as the started to circle the meat with the gasoline. "Yeah, El was the same," Lucas nodded. "We found her when we were looking for Will-"
"Who went missing in the upside down. Will told me that," Chris explained.
"Yep, El had powers, she helped find Will but the Demogorgon came and attacked us. El fought it off but she was gone too."
Lucas looked down, the grip on the gasoline bottle lighting. Chris rubbed his shoulder, and Lucas rubbed his eyes. Lucas went to speak but Chris held a finger up. "If you apologize I will smack you," Chris warned with a joking glare. Lucas laughed, tossing the bottle away and taking the spare from Chris.
"Okay, okay, now, you have powers," Lucas spoke up, tossing the lid away.
"Yeah," Chris nodded lining the gasoline to the door of the bus. "Fire manipulation, some weird ass selective telekinesis and shields. Oh! And uh my failing."
"Falling?" Lucas asked, following after her.
"It's how I see the upside down, it's basically what we thought Will was having," Chris explained.
"Oh okay, what do you mean by selective telekinesis?"
"It's stupid, useless really!" Dustin yelled, sticking his head out one of the bus windows. Dustin smiled at Chris, "She can't move living things!"
"Useless?" Chris questioned in a teasing tone. Dustin nodded, just wanting to see her show off her powers. "...Alright." Chris nodded and walked over to the pile of metal the girls were at earlier.
"What is she doing?" Max asked looking between the boys.
"Showing off," Dustin smiled. Chris held her hand out, the embers racing to attach themselves to the metal pieces. Chris twisted her fingers and the metal lifted themselves and followed her back to the bus. Chris stood beside Max as she left the pieces to gently fall.
"Show off!" Miya yelled flipping Chris off. Max stood there in silence, watching the embers spin around Chris's arms. Chris brought her lights through Max's hair tickling her cheeks as she did.
"We get Chris, you're amazing," Steve sighed not being able to stop his smile. "Let's get this over with," Steve said moving the metal against the bus.
"That was awesome," Max mumbled, standing still.
Chris and all the others built the bus for an attack. Max and Lucas were handling the inside of the bus lining the insides with old metal roofing. Alex and Miya were collecting barrels and other things the group could use. Dustin brought tires over that they could band the roof with. Chris and Steve were taking care of the outside, Chris was using her abilities to weld the sheets of metal that Steve passed her.
"Hey Steve, hold this one up," Chris called holding a large metal car door against the bus's back window. Steve dropped whatever he was holding and jogged to her. Steve slipped his arms over Chris's head, holding it tight against the bus. Chris moved her hand along the side, her skin burning the metal together. Once she was sure it wouldn't move Chris leant against the bus.
"Are you okay?" Steve asked resting a hand on her back. Chris whipped the blood from her nose, surely staining her sleeve.
"Yeah just... a little tired," Chris waved off, rubbing her temple.
"Maybe you should take a break, " Steve insisted running a hand through his hair. Chris shook her head, pushing herself to stand straight.
"There are only a few things left, I can do it," Chris nodded, and smiled at Steve. Steve shook his head with a chuckle.
"Why are you so stubborn?" Steve laughed, shoving his hands in his pockets. "C'mon Fire Angel." Steve mocked smiling at her. Chris looked at him confused, "I could just call you, Angel, if you'd like," Steve teased making Chris blush slightly.
"Technically, a fire angel would be a phoenix," Chris corrected with a laugh.
"I'll just stick to Angel then," Steve joked pushing his hair from his face.
"Chris, can you help please!?" Max called from inside the bus.
"What's up?" Chris called back walking to the side of the bus, Steve following behind her. Max sat on top of the bus, Alex and Miya at her side.
"Can we have those tires, please! We cant fit them through the sunroof!" Alex yelled out, very cautious of how close the edge was. Chris nodded letting the embers emerge from her hands lifting the tires to the girls onto of bus. Miya grabbed them, sliding them to Alex.
"Thank you!" Max yelled. Chris let the embers come back to her before collapsing to her knees. Steve grabbed her before she could fall all the way backwards.
"Nope, you're done," Steve huffed picking her up.
Steve brought her inside the bus and once Dustin noticed her, he dropped the metal sheet he had knocking Lucas's foot. Lucas was going to cuss him out but Dustin was already by his sister.
"What the hell?!" Dustin yelled as Steve rested Chris against the bus wall. Chris had enough strength to sit up but Steve kept an arm on Chris to keep her steady. "What happened!?" Dustin repeated, slapping Steve's arm.
"Nothing," Chris mumbled wiping her nose and trying to stand up but Steve held her in place.
"She's using too much power," Steve explained, looking behind him at Dustin. "I told you to stop," Steve reprimanded.
"Were done up here!" Miya called dropping down the ladder. "We just have to wait now." Miya supported Alex and Max as they jumped from the ladder as well.
"If we're quick I can get you home," Steve suggested, looking between both Henderson's.
"I'll be fine by the time they get here," Chris promised, taking his hand. Steve sighed moving to sit next to Chris.
"We wait," Steve called, everyone collectively agreeing, getting comfortable for the wait.
