CHAPTER ELEVEN

There's a knock at the door, and Nyx walks over to answer it. She opens it, but no one's standing outside. And then she feels it — a dark presence behind her.

"That's cowardly, don't you think?" Nyx asks as she shuts the door and turns around.

"Hello, Nycole." The blonde woman that's now standing in Chuck's living room smiles at her.

"We've been waiting for you." She says as her sister walks in from the kitchen.

"Where's the knife?" Lilith questions.

"I've got a protective boyfriend. He seems to think that no one can protect me like he can. He never lets it out of his sight." Nycole says.

"And I'm supposed to believe that?"

"No. 'Cause that would make you stupid, and something tells me you didn't make it this far by making mistakes like that." Elena says, earning the demon's attention.

"It's here." Nyx says. "Somewhere."

"Feel free to have a look around."

Lilith takes a step toward Nyx, but she can't leave the living room that she's in to enter the hallway. "Oops." The brunette smiles.

"What is this?" Lilith questions.

"Who needs a devil's trap when you have a boundary spell?"

"I hate witches."

"We love 'em." Elena tells her.

"You know what else we love?" Nyx asks, regaining Lilith's attention. "Vampires." She says as Marcel, Kol, and Rebekah walk up beside her; then Elijah, Klaus, and Hayley walk up on either side of Elena.

"This is your big plan?" The demon questions, and then the vampires all fly backward.

"Not entirely." Elena says just as Lilith hits the wall behind her.

Klaus runs forward with the demon knife, but Lilith is fast getting back to her feet. The two start fighting, and Elijah joins his brother. Nyx and Elena move to each other, and Kol and Hayley take a protective stance in front of the twins.

"Hello, Dean." Cas' voice immediately gets his attention, and he and his brother turn to face the angel.

Caroline looks up from where she's playing with the twins, and she notices Vicki staring at the floor. Caroline has absolutely no idea what's going on, they didn't want her to have to keep it a secret from Sam. So, she doesn't know what's taking place at Chuck's right now either. But Vicki does.

"Cas? Chuck?" Dean stands up, confused.

Hope walks over to Chuck, and he kneels down beside the baby. He knows who she is, so he picks her up. He uses her as a distraction from everything that's going on.

"What's going on?" Sam asks.

"It's started." Cas tells them. "Lilith just arrived at Chuck's."

"What?!" Dean's voice booms, scaring the twins. He looks between Vicki and Chuck, anger filling every inch of his body. "You both knew about this, didn't you? Didn't you?!"

"What's going on?" Caroline asks as she stands up from the floor with Sam's help, they each pick up one of the twins.

"Nyx and Elena are trying to kill Lilith." Vicki tells her. "The three of us have been planning this for...a while."

"You knew, and you didn't tell me?!" Dean takes a step forward, and Cas grabs his arm.

"This was the girls' plan. Nycole and Elena are trying to protect everyone." He tells him.

"You're supposed to be their protector. Why aren't you with them?" He questions.

"There's only so much help I can give them."

He shoves Cas off of him. "How could you three know what they were planning and not tell me about this?" He looks at each of them.

"It wasn't our call." Vicki says, and he can see the guilt written on her face, but he doesn't care right now. "This was Nyx and Elena's plan. It's the reason that they've been practicing so hard with their powers. And the demon attack—"

"I know that scared her!" He snaps. "They're my kids too. I want to protect them just as much as she does. I should be with her."

Dean tries to walk out of the room, but Cas gets in his way. "She doesn't want you there." The angel tells him.

"Well, too bad. 'Cause I don't want her there either." He says as he tries to move past him, but Cas stops him again.

"Destiny or not, the girls have the capability to end this." He says. "Nycole believes in her​ power — she believes that she and Elena are strong enough to stop Lilith." He tells him.

"And I believe that I should be with her."

"They asked me to keep you all here." He says, not letting him pass. "I'm sorry, but none of you are leaving this room until it's over." He looks at each of them.

Dean turns around and walks into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind him. Vicki sighs as she leans her head against the wall behind her, and Caroline and Sam look over at her.

"How could you not tell me?" The blonde questions. "Why did you guys keep your plan just between the three of you?"

"We knew that if we told you, you'd tell Sam." Vicki says as she looks at the two of them. "And he couldn't know."

"You were afraid that I'd tell Ruby?" He's clearly hurt by the assumption. "Even after Nyx, Elena, and the twins were attacked."

"We knew you'd tell Dean." She corrects, and his expression softens. "And we knew that he'd never let them go through with it."

"Because it's suicide."

"I don't believe that." Vicki​ shakes her head as she glances at the bathroom door. "While I was on the Other Side, I watched Nyx turn into this completely different person. She's stronger now than she ever was before, and I always admired her back then. She was smart, and she put up with Tyler at his worst. Now, she's... She kills monsters, she fights demons, and goes against the wishes of angels.

"Her biggest change wasn't falling in love with Dean and becoming a hunter. It was becoming a mother. There's nothing that she wouldn't do for her kids, and I've seen it since the moment she found out that she was pregnant. And you know better than anyone how devastated she was after the sacrifice.

"She'd die for anyone. And that's exactly what he's afraid of, I know that." Vicki sighs. "But this isn't that. Because while she will fight and die for the people she loves... She'll live for her family, and for her kids. Not just the twins, but especially for the one who's more reliant on her right now than anyone else. Lilith wants Nyx and Elena dead, and she doesn't care that Nyx is pregnant. If Nyx dies now, so does baby S. And that's why she won't."

"You can't know that." Caroline argues.

"I learned a lot watching you all from the Other Side." She tells her. "And sometimes when you act, you do it not based on what you know, but what you believe. And I believe in Nyx. Always have, always will."

Their attention is brought to Cas as a bright flash of light suddenly emits from him. They shield their eyes, as well as the twins' and Hope's, and then he's gone. The bathroom door opens and they turn to see Dean walking out while he wraps his hand.

"Learned that from Anna." He mutters as he makes his way to the door.

"Dean—" Vicki takes a step toward him, and he turns to face her.

"Don't." He says, and she stops. "She may be your best friend, but she's everything to me, and I can't do any of this without her. So, I'm not gonna sit back and do nothing while she risks her life so I don't have to risk mine."

"If you barge in there now, you could get yourself killed. Or one of them." She tells him. "Just take a minute and think about this, Dean. They can do this, you know they can. I get that you're scared, but you have to trust them. Okay? Trust Nyx."

"I trust her." He says. "But I don't trust the rest of them — not with her life."

She sighs as he turns and walks out the motel door. "Son of a bitch." Vicki hisses and then runs after him. She gets into the passenger seat of the Impala, and he only glances her way as he starts to car.

They make it back to Chuck's house and quickly run inside. Lilith has her hand around Nyx's throat, and the demon sees the two who just entered through the front door. She throws Nyx back and she slams into Dean.

They both end up on the hardwood floor, and he looks at her, finding that she's out cold. "No." He mutters as Vicki runs past them to make sure that Lilith doesn't get the demon knife.

"So, you are good for something." A male voice says as he pulls her back before Lilith could get her.

"Shut up, Kol." Vicki says as they both watch Hayley get the knife.

"Hey, hey. Come on, baby, wake up." Dean puts his hand on the side of Nyx's face and turns her head toward him.

A surge of energy suddenly courses through her, and she gasps as her eyes open. She looks at him, her eyebrows furrowed. "Dean?" She mutters, and he helps her to her feet. "What are you—"

"No time for that now, darling." Kol says as he appears beside them with Elena. "You two are supposed to stay—"

Rebekah suddenly flies at them, knocking all four of them to the floor. Nyx and Elena look at each other, straining for their hands to reach the others from the distance that they're at. Lilith watches them, clearly amused by their unwavering attempts to gain the upper hand in the fight.

Hayley and Elijah suddenly run up on either side of the demon, and they each grab one of her arms. Klaus runs over and plunges the knife into her chest as Marcel runs over to the twins. He quickly gets them both up, and the girls immediately take the others' hand in their own.

That strange orangish-yellow glow dances across Lilith's skin, and the twins concentrate the entirety of their power on her. She screams as the twins strengthen the power of the knife, and the lights intensify, growing brighter by the second. The demon suddenly falls to the floor as they fade away.

"Nyx!" Kai yells from upstairs, and they all turn toward the stairs.

"Kol, Rebekah, go." Nyx says, and they both disappear. She then rushes forward and grabs the demon knife, quickly pulling it from Lilith's chest, before heading for the stairs to get to the others.

Rebekah stops her before she can run into the room. "I take it she's not a friend of yours."

"Ruby." Nyx looks at the demon as the others come up behind her. "Can't say that I'm surprised."

"Do you even know how hard this was — all the demons out for my head?" Ruby questions as she looks between the twins who are standing side by side. She has a knife to Bonnie's throat, that's the only reason none of them have progressed any farther into the room. "No one knew. I was the best of those sons of bitches! The most loyal! Not even Alistair knew! Only Lilith!"

"And look how that turned out for you." She says as Kai backs away from her slowly, and then he just disappears into thin air.

"You two ruined everything!" She yells at them, eyes flickering to each member of their unusual group. "You set everything off course! And now..."

"And now that's it." Nyx says as she feels a hand on her arm. Kai — still invisible — takes the demon knife from her hand behind her back, and it disappears with him.

"You can't restart the apocalypse." Elena says, playing along with her sister.

"Elena and I — we heard Alistair, loud and clear." She says, keeping the demon's attention. "And it is written that the first seal shall be broken when a righteous man sheds blood in hell. As he breaks, so shall it break." She recites.

"And we got curious." She continues. "He described a domino effect. The first had to be a specific seal, but the rest... The rest didn't matter as long as they broke. Over six hundred different possibilities, but you only needed sixty-six. It sounded too easy."

"So, we had our friends do some digging. It took some time, but one of them found something interesting." Nyx smiles. "And it is written that the first demon shall be the last seal." She chuckles. "Lilith is the first demon, and now she's dead. But all of the other seals haven't been broken. She died too soon, and now...you lose."

Ruby gasps as her eyes widen in shock and pain, and then that same light flickers on her skin as on Lilith's. She lets go of Bonnie, and Davina quickly pulls her away from her.

"You shouldn't have underestimated my friends." Nyx tells her as Kai becomes visible again, twisting the knife in her back. "And you never should've gone near Sam."

Kai pulls the knife out, and Ruby falls to the floor, dead. Nyx sighs in relief as her sister leans into her side.

"Impressive." Klaus says, and the twins both look up at him.

"So, we're officially friends now?" Kai asks, and Nyx chuckles as she looks at him.

"Yes, Kai. We're friends." She nods, and he smiles at her.

"It's over?" Dean asks, and they all turn to look at him. "It's really over?"

Nyx walks over to him. "I promised you that he wasn't getting out of that cage, didn't I?" She says. "Look, I know that you're mad at me, but—"

He wraps his arms around her, and she smiles as her arms wind around his torso; she leans into him as she closes her eyes. "I don't care that you lied. I hate that you had this plan without me, but... I'm not gonna waste a single second being mad at you. It's all behind us now." He says, and she lets out a deep exhale, finally starting to believe that they can find normalcy in their lives.

"Kol and I will take care of these bodies so you can get back to your children." Elijah says, and they look over at him.

"In that case, a few of us can handle cleaning what we broke in the prophet's house." Marcel says.

"Prophet?" Dean asks, confused.

"Yeah... I'll, uh... I'll explain later." Nyx says, and he nods.

"Nycole." Cas shows up behind her and Dean, and they both turn around to face him. "I tried to keep Dean out of it, but he—"

"I don't even care." She shakes her head as she looks at the angel. "Lilith's dead, and we're all alive. That's all that matters now."

"May I?" He motions to her stomach as he takes a step forward. She nods, and he places his hand on her bump. "She's just fine."

Nyx smiles. "Then let's get this all taken care of so that we can go home." She says, and Dean smiles as he wraps his arms around her again. He pulls her to him, holding her tight as he kisses the top of her head.
