The years go by

I don't know how long it's been, but I know it's definitely been at least a few years since I've escaped. I've grown taller, faster, and dare I say a little stronger, proof that time was passing. I dashed through the forest at breakneck speed, making sure to run up the side of a tree and right back down. Doing things like this, or running through a random loop shape I find, or even diving off of a cliff into water and running across the surface after swimming back up, that's how I passed the time. I would probably look so much like a showoff if anyone had seen me. Luckily I live alone, so I can do it to my heart's content without worrying about it.

I didn't feel like swimming today, so I thought I'd try something a little different. I picked up as much speed as I could, then jumped towards a tree trunk. I kept jumping from trunk to trunk like a ninja before rolling on the ground and keeping my sprint going. Awesome.

Soon I found myself running up towards a hill, arching up like a ramp. I couldn't help it. I ran faster and faster, until I was flying through the air like an arrow. I could do this forever. After landing I finally began slowing my pace to sit under a tall oak tree.

I couldn't help but contemplate all that has happened before. While that was all behind me, I was often afraid of the minions of the mistress to return for me. To remedy this, I wore a bright red blindfold over my eyes. I was the only elf with fiery eyes like mine from what the guards would always say, so hiding them was key. However the blindfold still didn't cover the scar over my right eye, so I let my bangs do that. There's actually a pretty funny story about how I got my blindfold, but that's for another time.

While it pained me to think about that dark time in my life, I didn't have to worry about it now. I was free, and no one could ever take it away from me. I breathed a relaxed sigh before getting more comfortable under the tree.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps, lots of them. I quickly ran up the tree out of instinct, ready to hide from who  ever it was. I was expecting a group of trolls or drow to pass by trying to look for me, but I saw something else instead.

It was a very mixed up group. An eagle man led the way as a younger group followed behind him. Two purple dragons, one a guy and the other a girl, a creature made of lava, a blue fuzzy creature, an orange fuzzy creature, a blue skinned girl wearing all black, a pink girl wearing black moving on sharp bladed wheels, a human girl in armor, a golden colored girl wearing blue, a blue elf riding a skeleton bird of some kind, and a human-like guy with white feathered wings. However the last member of the group caught my attention quickly. She was an elf like I was, with a much lighter shade of minty green skin, beautiful snow white eyes, ocean blue hair, and in a  brown outfit. While living around drow had made me scared of my own kind, something about her mystified me. I could see her perfectly through my mind's eye as the group made their way through the woods, camping supplies in tow.

I much preferred to stay hidden, yet I felt the compulsion to follow them. I silently and quickly made my way through the treetops, doing my best to avoid detection as I went.
