Chapter 5
"Mind if I sit here?" A voice questioned from before her.
Eliot raised her head from her book to see a girl around her age with long wavy black hair and pretty hazel eyes looking down at her. The green stripped tie around the girl's neck indicated that she was a Slytherin.
"Sure," Eliot smiled at the girl, and surprisingly, the girl smiled back. Now, Eliot wasn't one to stereotype often, but the Slytherins were known for their nasty and snobbish behavior towards the other houses. Composed of only pureblood families, they often liked to show their superiority.
"I'm Leta," the girl held out her hand for Eliot to shake.
"Eliot," Eliot smiled, taking the girl's hand. Leta didn't even show off her last name, Eliot was beginning to gain a little respect for this girl.
"Transfiguration was so hard today," Leta groaned once they had settled down in their seats.
"Oh, that's right, we had Transfiguration with Slytherin today!" Eliot grinned before shaking her head. "I didn't find it that bad."
Leta rolled her eyes. "Of course you didn't," she said before whispering under her breath, 'Bloody Ravenclaws', making Eliot laugh.
"What's hard is that two metre long potions essay I have to complete by tonight," Eliot retorted. "I mean, seriously, how much could one write on Amortentia? I swear, my hand is going to fall off by the time I'm done."
"Oh, I remember that," Leta laughed slightly, "Everyone in my class was so uncomfortable when Slughorn was reviewing it."
"Oh my gosh, same!" Eliot exclaimed, making both girls crack up.
Suddenly a voice interrupted their conversation.
"Leta!" exclaimed a familiar voice. "There you are!" Suddenly the panting figure of Newt entered the library, making Eliot's breath hitch. It amazed her that no matter how many times she saw him, he always had the same effect on her.
Leta rolled her eyes and smirked at him playfully. "You should've known that I'd be here Newt, I'm always here."
Newt grinned back at her. "And what if I didn't? You made me search the whole school for you."
"Oh suck it up, you big baby," Leta rolled her eyes once more. Eliot felt a pang of jealousy at how easily they were conversing, and scolded herself immediately for thinking such thoughts.
He's not your boyfriend, she scolded herself.
"Uh, you two know each other?" Eliot furrowed her eyebrows.
Finally Newt turned to her, making her heart flutter. "Eliot?" he said in confusion. "When did you get here?" Eliot's mouth went dry, as a stinging ball of hurt settled in her stomach.
Leta smacked her forehead. "Newt you idiot, she's been here the whole time."
"Really?" Newt exclaimed. "I never noticed."
That's when Eliot abruptly got up, her head down to hide the sadness in her eyes. "I think I'm going to go now, I have a potions essay to finish." Well, at least she wasn't lying.
"No!" Leta exclaimed, a knowing look in her eyes. "Actually, Newt here was just leaving."
"What? No I wasn't- hey!" Newt exclaimed in protest as Leta grabbed him by the sleeve and dragged him out of the library. A couple seconds later, she returned, dusting off the imaginary dirt off her hands.
"Sorry about that," Leta smiled apologetically at Eliot. "That boy can be so unaware of what he says sometimes."
Eliot only shook her head sadly. "It's alright, it's not your fault."
There was a slight pause of silence before Leta decided to speak up. "Hey, tell you what, if you're free tomorrow, do you want to come with me to Zonko's? I owe Marshall and Darwin Prewett five new dungbombs." Leta smiled as if remembering something, probably having to do with the other five dungbombs she borrowed.
Eliot considered it, Mylene did have a date with Bradley Jordan tomorrow at Hogsmede. Finally she turned to Leta and smiled before shrugging. "Sure why not?" Besides, she had to take her mind off a certain curly haired Hufflepuff boy.

"So. Boring," Eliot groaned, smacking her forehead against the wooden desk in front of her.
Mylene raised her eyebrows at Eliot, pushing her already finished essay aside. "I'm beginning to doubt why you were placed in Ravenclaw," she chuckled.
"Shut up!" Eliot groaned. "How are you even finished! That was a two metre long essay!"
"I worked on it all after class," Mylene replied simply, before she pursed her lips. "Hey, I'm sorry for leaving you alone tomorrow at Hogsmede." She sent Eliot an apologetic smile.
Eliot waved it off. "It's alright, I've already got plans."
Mylene's eyebrow raised. "With who, that Hufflepuff boy you've been drooling over?" she teased.
"No," Eliot said sharply, still having not gotten over the previous incident. "I'm going shopping at Zonko's with a girl named Leta from Slytherin."
At this Mylene's eyebrows shot up. "Leta Lestrange? Ellie, you know the Lestranges have a nasty reputation, right?"
Eliot shook her head. "I know, but she's different. It's like she doesn't even care about her last name."
Mylene shrugged. "Whatever you say, just don't say I didn't warn you."
There was a short pause before Eliot spoke up again. "Hey Mylene?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I copy off your essay?"
"Hell no."
"Why not?" Eliot pouted.
Mylene stared at her unamused. "Because it took me roughly around two hours to complete." Then she smiled cheekily. "But you could always ask N-"
"Don't you dare even say it, Mylene."
