Chapter 13
I am seriously surprised I have not legit died of suffocation from all the schoolwork we've been doing.
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little but I have been really busy with exam week, so give me that at least. So please reconsider burying me alive and dancing on my grave for not updating, I actually have been busy and suffering from a serious case of writer's block.
Siriusly, it's not even funny.

"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"No."
"Yes- I mean no!"
Eliot smirked victoriously as Newt gripped the end of his scarf nervously. "I don't think this is such a good idea."
"C'mon! I'm sure we'll be fine!" Eliot exclaimed, causing Newt to sigh and shake his head before reluctantly mount the broom behind her.
"Besides, I'm sure Fleamont won't mind if we borrow his broom for a bit." She added.
Newt's eyes widened. "Wait, this is Fleamont Potter's broom- bloody hell!" The broom took off as Eliot kicked off the ground, and Newt instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach and a warm, jittery feeling spread in her chest, as if she had just drunk a large cup of butterbeer.
"Watch out!" Newt's voice sounded in alarm, and Eliot's eyes widened as they narrowly missed a student walking in the hallway.
"Hehe... sorry," Eliot laughed nervously.
"So um, how long have you been playing quidditch?" Newt questioned casually, or as casually as he could considering he looked like he was about to puke over the side of the broom.
"Oh, roughly a day or two. Apparently I'm a terrible flyer but practice makes perfect, right?" Eliot grinned, and she didn't even need to turn around to know that Newt's face had paled considerably, and that his arms were slowly tightening around her waist. Though she found herself quite enjoying this teasing match.
"Right..." Newt laughed weakly, sounding like he was about to vomit up his previous meal.
"Lighten up!" Eliot chuckled, swerving hard to the right, following the way they had last seen the Billywig fly.
"Uh, I'm pretty sure that this is illegal" Newt retorted sharply.
"Isn't it illegal to tame a Hippogriff in the Forbidden forest?" Eliot countered.
"It's not illegal if you're not caught," Newt smirked, and Eliot threw her head back to laugh at this. Though, as she did so, she caught a glimpse of Newt smiling at her with a look of almost... Admiration? No, it must have been her imagination.
"But you have been caught," Eliot smiled. "By me."
"I wouldn't have thought of a better person to be caught by," Newt's breath hit her neck and she froze, almost stopping the broom in the process. Her breath stuck in her throat as she searched her mind for appropriate responses, although she found none.
"I-I, um..." She started, but soon cut herself off as a blue blur soared across her vision, and she was once again snapped back to reality. "There!" She shouted, and the broom jerked violently towards the target, making Newt give a cry of alarm and hold onto her once more.
"I hope you don't mind speed!" Eliot shouted behind her to Newt, grinning broadly.
"I hope you like chocolate frogs," Newt muttered, holding his stomach in pain.
"I've almost got it!" Eliot shouted excitedly as they chased the blur through the halls. "Newt give me your case!"
Newt soundlessly gave her the case as she gradually got closer and closer to the creature. "Almost there..." She muttered under her breath, flipping the seals open on the case. "Just a little closer... and-"
In one fluid motion, she slammed the case close before shutting the seals simultaneously. "Gotcha!" Eliot exclaimed victoriously, brandishing the case as if it were a trophy. Although, she soon realized that removing both her hands from the broom wasn't such a good idea, as the broom quickly dropped out of the air, sending both students tumbling to the ground.
Though, Eliot was quick to spring back to her feet, waving the suitcase around in excitement. "That was awesome! Absolutely-....." She trailed off as she turned to see Newt puking by the wall.
Am I really that bad at flying? She thought to herself, scratching the back of her head sheepishly.
-------------------------------------
"That was horrible."
"What? No way, that was incredible!" Eliot gushed, smiling giddily.
Newt shook his head and groaned, rubbing his temples. "It was a rather horrifying experience, if you ask me," he muttered.
"Oh, suck it up, buttercup!" Eliot nudged him, though soon realized it wasn't such a good idea when he staggered to the side, swaying slightly. She immediately steadied him before he could fall, draping his arm around her shoulder.
"Sorry," she apologized sheepishly as Newt looked at her dazedly. Eliot held his state for a couple of seconds, before looking away, blushing slightly.
"I want to ask you a question." Newt said suddenly, still looking at her.
"U-Um, what would that be?" Eliot stammered from his intense stare.
"Why do you still hang around me?"
Eliot immediately froze, turning her head slowly to stare at Newt. "What?" She questioned incredulously.
Newt looked down, a frown pulling at the corners of his mouth. "I mean, most people think I'm annoying," Newt started. "I only thought it was a matter of time before you'd think the same."
Eliot blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Thrice.
Before bursting out in laughter.
Newt stared at her confused, and a little hurt.
"You? Annoying?" Eliot snorted. "Newt, you're the most interesting person I've ever met! I mean, have you ever seen anyone else tame Hippogriffs randomly in the forest?"
Newt smiled weakly. "Yeah, I guess so."
Eliot stopped him, placing her hands on each of his shoulders and staring him straight in the eye. Newt looked up at her confused.
"You are one of the most unique and interesting person I've ever met, Newt, so don't ever demoralize yourself like that," Eliot ordered, staring at him harshly.
Newt only stared back at her in silent awe, completely motionless. Though, his next action surprised them both. Newt carefully raised a hand her face, before gently tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ears. "You're amazing, you know that?" Newt muttered, not breaking his stare.
"I... Um..." Eliot stammered, unable to form proper words.
Suddenly Newt seemed to realize what he had said, and immediately retracted his hand. "I-I mean, you're an amazing friend, yeah that's what I meant," Newt faltered, averting his eyes as a blush dusted his cheeks.
"Hey Newt?"
Newt looked up, only to feel something quick and soft briefly press against his cheek.
"I think you're a great friend too," Eliot smiled shyly at him, blushing profusely before pivoting on her heel and speed walking down the hall.
Newt watched Eliot disappear down the hall, hesitantly raising two fingers to touch the still tingling spot on his cheek. A small smile spread across his face as he finally broke out of his trance.
A strange girl indeed.
