Thirty

The avatar shot at the prince as he broke the roof and landed on the tree causing him to fall onto the ground," What's wrong with you? You could of hurt Aang!" Katara shouted as she ran over to the prince.

He rolled his eyes, "There was a time you cared about me," He replied as he helped himself up. The waterbender looked at him directly at his eyes as she was hurt by his comment.

Everyone else has caught up to the scene, "What was that all about?" Sokka questioned still mad that he had destroyed his Suki's sand sculpture.

"The comet is in three days!," He shouted pissed off that they weren't going to do anything about it. He was bothered at the fact that they were playing around at the beach.

The rest of the group was silent until Aang took a step forward. He was nervous but managed to say it, "We decided it would be best to wait til after the comet. I still need more time to practice firebending," He explained.

"Your Earthbending still needs some work too," Toph admitted as the Prince was more annoyed.

"You guys thought that you weren't going to tell me about this? We can't wait til after because there's going to be no world to save," Zuko sighed.

"What do you mean by that?" Katara questioned.

"I was called in for my father's meeting. I was thrilled when he had me invited because all I ever wanted was to be by his side and obtain my honor. When I got there, they were all talking about the Earth Kingdom. He wanted to cause more pain and remove any hope that the people still had. You guys do know that my great-grandfather Sozin used the comet to wipe out the airnomads. And, now the firelord wants to do the same with the Earth Kingdom," He exclaimed, "He believes if he wipes out the Earth Kingdom, he will be powerful. He doesn't see the avatar as much of a threat since he knows you are weak. If you were strong you would of had already faced him," Zuko finished as everyone remained silent.

Toph was taken back by the revelation as she knew her parents were left behind. Varo extended out her hand and placed it on Toph's shoulder as she knew it will affect Toph the most.

"Why didn't you tell me about your father's evil plans!" Aang shouted. Zuko began to argue back as Katara watched the two. The firelord has no empathy, and she knew it first hand as she recalled their encounters. His eyes showed no emotions, and his words were always harsh and cold. He couldn't even put up an act if he wanted to.

"You are the avatar! You should be able to stop him!"

"You know I'm only 14 years-old!"

"STOP!" Katara shouted as water pushed the two back, "Arguing isn't going to help with anything," She glared at both.

She was right. They had to stop wasting time, and actually get serious. Sokka proposed that Aang, Zuko and Toph should go and train while the rest figure out something.

They separated as they headed inside the beach house. Katara was sitting with Varo, " Katara, Can I ask you something?" She turned to face the waterbender.

"What is it?"

"I'm finally controlling my visions, but I keep getting the same reoccurring one," She explained, "I end up dead,"

Katara was taken back by her words. How was she so calm and straightforward about the situation? "Maybe it was just another nightmare," Katara reassured the girl.

Varo looked at her, "You think?" At this point it seem she wasn't as scared anymore. A part of her hoped that Katara is right— maybe she confused it with her dream since it does hit her when she's sleeping. Her mind has always played tricks with her emotions this wouldn't be odd to her.

She nodded, "Of course, you are way too young to die and your most likely not going to be in the battle. I wouldn't want you to get hurt since your technically a non-bender,"

Varo took in her words, usually she would of been offended at the thought of her being on the sidelines but it was true. She didn't know any combat like Sokka or Suki and she wasn't a bender like Katara,Toph,Aang and Zuko. "Where exactly am I gonna go?"

Katara remained silent for a few seconds before answering, "I would assume we camped somewhere and you will stay there until one of us comes back for you. Appa and momo would be with you to keep you company,"

Varo nodded as she got up, "I'm going to see what the others are doing," She stated as she left the room.

Sokka and Suki were talking discreetly," Have you guys thought of something?" Katara asked as the two faced her.

The non-bender sighed," We just have to help out Aang so he only uses his energy and time solely on the Firelord. I think if we separate into small groups we can divert any soldiers who would attack Aang. The only thing left would be Aang to kill the firelord,"

Katara frowned at the idea," You think Aang is willing to kill someone. He is a monk afterall," Katara reasoned.

"Its the only thing that can end this war," Suki emphasized as Katara nodded. She knew that deep down it was never right to kill. Its inhumane and she believed it wasn't needed but under these circumstances there wasn't anything left to do.

It was now later in the afternoon, Katara and Suki were finishing up the food as they knew everyone would come in with an appetite. Sokka had left a while to use some time to sharpen his skills and the sword, "I noticed that you and Zuko still haven't resolved anything," Suki stated as the waterbender sighed.

"I don't blame him. Everyone was right— I should of told him beforehand. Better if he had heard it from me instead of Azula,"

Suki looked at her best friend with sympathy," You did say that you told him the reasons for it. He still loves you Katara— just give him time,"

The door opened causing both of them to stop talking as Toph entered, "We are back," She announced as she took a seat. Katara gave them a smile as she directed everyone to take a seat.

Katara was now left alone thinking about what Zuko had said to her. She frowned at the fact they still haven't been like how they were before. It truly hurt her seeing him and knowing that he was still upset over the whole situation.

She began to walk out as she headed towards her bedroom. The halls she walked in as small flashbacks occurred of the two together.

She picked out the same room she had been in before because it seem fitting. She also wanted to pretend that she was still back in time when the two were fine and perfect. She looked at her door and placed her hand on the handle as she pushed it forward.

"Kat?" She heard as she looked up and saw the prince.

"What are you doing here?" She asked confused at his sudden appearance,"Aren't you supposed to be training with Aang?"

Sokka had ordered them to continue training even after they had finished their dinner. He believed that it would help and make up the days they missed. The prince looked down, feeling bad, "I wanted to apologize for what I said earlier— I noticed that you were taken back from it," He admitted," Also hes training with Toph,"

She shook her head, "No, I pretty much deserve it. These past days I been distant towards you," She commented as she took a seat on the edge of her bed.

"You do know that I forgive you, right?"

Katara looked up at his golden eyes and saw that he meant it,"It amazes me that you can do such a thing," she admitted while she played with her fingers,"How can you?"

The prince sighed as he sat down next to the waterbender, "I know this is going to sound messed up, but in a way I kind of deserve it. Maybe this was for all the times I spent trying to capture Aang, and hurting anyone who was in my way," He explained, "Also, if I were honest with you, I probably would of done the same thing if I were put in your situation,"

Katara remained quiet as she was still taking in his words. They both had different perspective. He is so mature for his age, but she remembered that he had to grow up when he was little.

"Kat, I still love you," He started as that quickly got her attention. She looked up at him as her cheeks were slightly pink, "I'm forever going to be inlove with you,"

He looked at her eyes trying to read them, but he was never good at that to begin with, "I still love you too," she smiled at him. In his eyes, she is the most beautiful woman when she smiles. He smiled back as she moved closer to him.

Without hesitation he leaned in to give her a kiss. Its been something he missed. She was surprised but allowed it as she kissed him back. She was inlove with the prince, and she knew that if everything was fine they can return to how it used to be.

The prince slowly got up as he pushed back the waterbender. As much as he wanted this to be a sweet moment, he couldn't help himself. The longest he has gone without being able to touch her or kiss her. He noticed her hands move as she tugged his clothes and a smile appeared on his lips.

"Kat," Zuko nudged the water tribed girl hoping she will wake up, "Princess wake up," He whispered.

Katara mumbled as she moved closer to the prince, "Is it morning already?" She whined.

He chuckled at her response,"No its still late, but I remembered that I wanted to show you a few things," He explained as she rubbed her eyes and sat up.

"What is it?"

The prince's cheeks redden at the sight of her breast. Yes they had have sex twice but he still felt a lot of emotions at the sight of her body, "Its back in my room," He answered.

"Okay, let's go then," She stood up as she grabbed her clothes. The prince following her decided to put on his bottoms as it was late and no one would be awake.

The two left her room as they walked quietly through the halls. They didn't want to wake up anyone because they were still technically avoiding each other. The two arrived after a few turns, Zuko opened the door as he allowed Katara inside.

She was still sleepy but was curious on what he had to show her. She took a seat on his couch as she saw the prince pull out the bag he was carrying before, "You always knew their was good in me, and I never really thought about how my behavior changed ever since you came into my life. My uncle always tried to push me to join the other side of this war. I never understood his reasons— instead I assumed it was cause he lost Lu Ten because of this war. There's more to it, Kat," He stated as he pulled out the same wooden box that contained scrolls.
"Zhilan helped me explain a lot of what happened between my mother and the firelord. After this war, I want to try and find my mother— bring her back with me,"

Katara skimmed through the scrolls where it contained his mother's past. There's a part where she notices that she had another man who she truly loved, "Zuko it says here that your father isn't the Firelord Ozai," She commented as Zuko raised his brows confused. She handed him the scroll as he read it. How did he not read this before?? Was it skipped by accident. Katara continued reading as she was amazed at the revelation that Avatar Roku is related to the prince. She wanted to mention it, but she realized he was still reading that scroll.

Just as the prince was about to say something the doors were opened as Sokka came in, "Aang is missing," He exclaimed as he saw his sister was in Zuko's room, "Wait a secon-"

Katara quickly got up, "We made up," She interrupted him as she began to ask for an explanation. Sokka revealed that Suki was getting breakfast ready and that Toph was sent to fetch Aang and she knew something was off, so we came to get Zuko while Suki went to get you,"

They all were outside as everyone panicked, "Do you think he left because of the arguments we had?" Varo questioned as she bit her lip nervously.

"This is just great," Sokka complained as he looked around, "Now is not the time to be running off," He crossed his arms.

"You saw how he acted when we told him about killing the FireLord, and we also have to remember that Aang is a kid. We all are— he just happens to be younger than us excluding Toph and Varo," Katara reasoned as everyone remained silent. No one knew what to do. They had already spent most of the hour trying to look for him in the village but no luck.

"Wait a second, where's momo?" He asked as Sokka eyed Appa.

"No," Katara stated sternly as Sokka opened the bison's mouth to look for the liemur. Everyone rolled their eyes as he started to accuse him of eating their little friend.

"Get out of the Bison's mouth," Zuko ordered as he got up.

"Hey, Aren't you an expert on tracking down  the Avatar," Toph stated as the Prince looked at her unamused, "I remembered the many stories twinkle-toes told me,"

"Yeah, she has a point," Katara recalled as the Prince rolled his eyes. He walked past the group as he climbed up on the bison.

"You guys coming or not?"
