20. The Sun Also Rises

"My duty is to Klaus" Klaus and Lily heard Greta tell Elena as the duo walked towards the ritual ground, "The new order".

"Glad to know I still have a dance partner" Klaus said, he then turned to the three woman surrounded by fire, "Hello, my lovelies, are we ready?".

And that's when Lily's eyes landed on a shivering Jenna, "Jenna?" she wondered out loud, she then looked at Klaus, "What's Jenna doing here, Klaus?".

"She's the vampire Klaus will be sacrificing" Greta informed Lily, before Klaus could say anything.

Lily glared at the original infront of her, "Are you insane?!" she asked, "You can't sacrifice her".

"This is simply punishment for the Salvatore's trying meddle in my plan" Klaus defended.

"This is wrong!" Lily snapped back, "She doesn't deserve, you can't kill her, I won't let you".

"Sorry love, but you won't be able to stop me" Klaus said.

Before Lily could say anything else, Greta used her magic to pushed her on to the ground and create a fire of circle around her as well.

"Easy" Klaus warned Greta, not wanting Lily to get hurt.

"Klaus!" Lily yelled, banging on the barrier Greta created around her.

Klaus ignored Lily's protest and turned to Greta, "Let's start, shall we?".

"I've got the moonstone" Klaus said, taking the moonstone out of his pocket, "I spent 500 years looking for this", Klaus gave the moonstone to Greta, "I hate to part with it".

"The moon has passed its apex" Greta informed, confusing Lily who didn't understand why her transformation hadn't started yet, she looked to her side and saw Jules screaming in pain while she stood there normally.

"What's happening to me?" Lily whispered, feeling extremely confused.

"Remember everything you need to do?" Greta asked Klaus.

"I remember" Klaus assured, he spent one thousand years trying to break his curse, he knew each and everything related to it.

Greta threw the moonstone into the alter and it went up in sparks, and then suddenly Lily fell to the floor, crying out in pain, her transformation was finally started.

"Everything I did, I was just trying to help Tyler, I didn't want him to be alone" Jules told Lily, laying on the floor in pain.

"Jules, I appericate the honesty but this is a bad time, aah!" Lily yelled, as the bones in her legs started cracking.

"Shall we?" Klaus asked Jules, just as the fire around her went away, taking the opportunity Jules tried to run away, but Klaus already predicting that, grabbed her by her throat and slammed her on to the ground and then ripped her heart out, while Elena and Jenna looked on in shock and Lily laid in pain on the ground.

Klaus walked over to the circle Jenna was trapped in, a stake in his hand.

"Klaus" Lily cried, ignoring her pain and standing up, making Klaus look at with a impressive look, he admired that despite all the pain she was feeling, Lily could still stand up for herself, "Don't do this, she isn't involved this, let her go, please".

"I understand that I have to die, but she doesn't--", Elena tried to step forward but the flames around her got higher, stopping her.

"Careful" Klaus warned.

"Elena, don't" Jenna said.

"No Jenna, we can't leave Jeremy without a family" Elena cried, she looked at Klaus again, "I followed your rules, I did everything that you asked, I didn't run, please?".

"Well, well" Klaus suddenly said, "I don't recall you being on the guest list".

Elena, Lily and Jenna followed Klaus's eyesight towards the top of the hill only to see Stefan standing there.

"I'm here to talk" Stefan informed.

"Very well, then" Klaus said, before leaving to talk to Stefan, he looked at Lily, "You're fighting your transformation, stop fighting it Lily, the more you fight it, the more painful it will get".

"The pain is my punishment for thinking for even a second that the villain could be trusted worthy" Lily snapped, falling down to the ground on her knees, no longer having the strength to stay standing.

Klaus looked at Lily for a moment, but before anyone could realise that he was staring he used his speed to run over to where Stefan stood.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Salvatore?" Klaus asked.

"What's going on?" a confused Jenna asked, looking towards Klaus and Stefan.

"I don't know" Elena replied, she looked towards the Forbes werewolf, "Lily I know you're hurting right now, but you can hear them, please tell us what they're saying".

"I'll try my best" Lily said, screaming in pain as the bones in her arms started cracking, but after gathering herself, she focused her hearing on Stefan and Klaus.

"You don't need to kill Jenna" Lily heard Stefan tell Klaus, "I'll take her place".

"Oh, I don't know" Klaus said, "I rather appericate the symmetry of three women, three goddesses sacrificed at nature's altar".

"Don't play games with me, you'll get what you want anyways" Stefan reminded.

"You're quite the hero, aren't you?" Klaus mocked, "Yeah, I've heard that about you".

"Just make the trade" Stefan said, "Me for Jenna".

"Lily, what are they saying?" a curious Elena asked.

An emotional Lily looked at Elena, "Stefan wants to trade places with Jenna" she revealed, shocking Elena

"Elena" a worried Jenna called.

"I have to do something" a panicked Elena stated, pacing back and forth, "This can't happen, none of it".

"Quite the predicament" Klaus said, walking over to the three girls with Stefan right behind him, "You know, it's funny, all this talk about preserving family and here's Stefan, granting your wish".

"Stefan" an emotional Elena whispered.

"It's okay" Stefan assured.

"None of this is okay" Lily snapped, tears in her eyes.

Stefan gave Lily a sad smile, "Good to see you one last time, Lily".

Lily shook her head, "No Stefan" she cried.

"Well, who's it gonna be, Elena?" Klaus asked, gesturing between Stefan and Jenna.

"No" Elena cried, refusing to pick between the man she loves and her boyfriend.

"Oh, don't worry" Klaus said, "There's actually no choice".

Klaus suddenly speeded behind Stefan and stabbed him in the back with a wooden stake, he then ripped the stake in half, making it so Stefan couldn't reach it.

"No, Stefan!" Elena yelled.

"Stop!" Lily yelled, trying to stop Klaus from hurting Stefan but she failed as Klaus snapped Stefan's neck.

"I have other plans for your boyfriend" Klaus informed Elena, "I want him alive", he then looked at his witch, "Whenever your ready, Greta".

Greta's chanting got louder and the flames around Jenna disappeared.

"No" Elena whispered.

"Your turn" Klaus told Jenna.

"No, Jenna, no" Elena cried.

"Klaus stop, please don't this" Lily pleaded.

"It's alright, I know what I have to do" Jenna told the two emotional girls, suddenly Jenna speeded over to Greta and bit into her neck, making her let out a loud scream, but Klaus speeded behind Jenna and stabbed her in the side causing her to gasp in pain and separate from Greta, Klaus then threw Jenna on to the floor.

"Jenna, no" Elena sobbed, as Lily closed her eyes, not being able to see this, Jenna looked at Elena, her eyes teary, "Just turn it off" Elena cried, "Jenna, turn it off, you won't be scared anymore".

Just as Klaus forced Jenna to face him, Elena watched her aunt turn her humanity off and the fear leave her eyes, just in time as Klaus to staked her.

"No!" Elena yelled, her yell causing Lily to shut her eyes more tightly, tears spilling down her cheeks, "Jenna! No, Jenna".

After a moment, Stefan woke up and immediately he groaned in pain feeling the wood stuck in his back, he tried to take it out but he couldn't reach it, he then looked towards Elena and Lily, only to see Lily laying there crying, while Elena was looking at the alter with tears in her eyes, turning to the alter, Stefan was shocked seeing Jenna's desiccated body.

"No" Stefan whispered, he turned back to his heartbroken girlfriend, "I'm so sorry".

"Shh" Elena whispered, putting her finger on her lips, indicating Stefan to not make a sound, "Are they gonna kill him?" she whispered.

"Yes" Stefan mouthed, just as Klaus walked over to Elena.

"It's time" Klaus informed, as the fire around Elena went away, he held his hand out for the doppelganger but she ignored it and walked over to the alter herself, "Thank you, Elena" Klaus whispered, walking over to Elena.

"Go to hell" Elena snapped.

Klaus smirked and then bit into Elena's neck and started draining her blood while a helpless Stefan watched.

Suddenly Stefan heard both Klaus and Lily let out a scream, he looked between them and realised both of their eyes had started glowing yell, they were both transforming, however before Klaus could finish his transformation he was flung over to the trees by Bonnie, who walked down the path chanting, giving Klaus immense pain, before Greta could help Klaus her neck was snapped by Damon, who picked Elena's dead body up and brought her over to Stefan.

"Lily!" Stefan called out, worried for the werewolf.

Lily looked at Stefan, her eyes glowing yellow while she was screaming in pain, "Stay away!" she yelled, "Stay away Stefan!".

"No, you were dead!" Klaus yelled, seeing Bonnie.

Bonnie ignored Klaus and kept chanting cause a line of fire to appear beside a screaming Klaus.

"I need you to get her out of here" Stefan told his brother as he removed the stake from Stefan's back.

"What about you?" a concerned Damon asked.

"I'm not leaving until he's dead, go" Stefan ordered.

Damon nodded, he quickly picked Elena up in his arms and took her away from the ritual grounds.

Bonnie eventually stopped chanting when Elijah walked over to Klaus.

"Elijah" Klaus whispered.

"Hello, brother" Elijah greeted, causing Klaus to give him a small smile but that smile turned into a yell when Elijah stuck his hand into Klaus's chest, grabbing his heart, "In the name of our family, Niklaus".

"I didn't bury them at sea" Klaus cried out.

"What?" a shocked Elijah asked.

"Their bodies are safe" Klaus revealed, "If you kill me, you'll never find them".

"Elijah" Stefan called out, "Don't listen to him".

"Elijah, I can take you to them" Klaus promised, "I give you my word, brother".

"Aah!" Lily yelled, gaining Elijah's attention, who was surprised that Lily still hadn't transformed.

"Do it and I'll take you both out" Bonnie threatened.

"You'll die" Elijah reminded.

"I don't care" Bonnie snapped, glaring at the original.

"Brother" Klaus whispered.

Elijah looked at Klaus then at Bonnie and Stefan, "I'm sorry".

"No!" Both Stefan and Bonnie yelled out as Elijah grabbed both Lily and Klaus and jumped to the other side of the fire.
