16. Bring It On

Hayley walked out of a diner, she walked between two trucks when suddenly she heard something behind her, turning around she saw no one behind her, she quickly turned the other direction when another noise hit her ears, the moment she turned around, she saw a man standing there, the man, who turned out to be a vampire, speeded over to Hayley and held her in a choke hold and then slammed on to the the truck behind her and then threw her on the ground.

"That's not how you treat a lady" Lily said, appearing behind the vampire, before the vampire could register anything, Lily ended up biting him in his neck, after throwing the vampire on the floor, Lily looked at Hayley.

"You came" Hayley whispered.

"You didn't really give me much of a choice" Lily retorted, forwarding her hand towards Lily, who gladly grabbed Lily's hand and let her pull her up, the two werewolves attention went towards the vampire who had speeded away, "Relax, the werewolf venom in him won't let him make it through tomorrow night".

"What if they are more?" a scared Hayley asked.

"Of course they're going to be more" Lily said, "You were dumb enough to make a deal with someone who has only looked out of herself, Katherine used you to find the cure, now that she has the cure, she's taking care of her loose ends, which includes you, good luck surviving".

"Klaus said he would protect me" Hayley reminded.

"Why do you think I'm here?" Lily asked, "I'm here to keep Klaus's end of the deal, I'll protect you from Katherine, as long as you tell me everything you know about her plan".

Klaus opened the front door of his mansion and immediately let out an annoyed groan seeing Damon standing on the other side, "What an unpleasant surprise" he taunted.

Damon walked past Klaus and into the living room where Lily was already sitting, reading a book, she immediately rolled her eyes in annoyance seeing Damon, "So I just came up with a list, it's called things you suck at" Damon told Klaus, "Number one, finding Katherine, ever, number two, covering up your secret phone conversations with that little backstabber Hayley, yeah, so, where is she? And what does she know about Katherine?".

"I should help you?" Klaus asked Damon, who nodded his head in response, "After you lot killed my brother, imprisoned me and my little luna in the Gilbert living room".

"You might want to prioritize Klaus, you have much bigger problems" Damon warned, "Katherine has the cure, my guess is she's gonna want to cram it down your throat, you help me find Katherine, I'll get the cure, I'll give it to Elena, everybody wins, just let me question Hayley about Katherine".

"No" Lily said, her eyes stuck on her book, "Hayley is under our protection", Lily lifted her eyes from her book and looked at Damon, "But I might have had a little run in with a vampire who might've known where Katherine is, yeah he could have helped you, if I hadn't bit him in his neck", Lily waved her fingers at Damon, "Now run along and go be Elena's little errand boy, I no longer want to see your face".

A chuckling Klaus sat next to Lily, he put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a kiss, a smiling Lily quickly straddled him and deepened the kiss, while an annoyed Damon walked out the Mikaelson mansion after realising he wasn't going to get anymore answers from Klaus or Lily.

Klaus sat across Hayley at his dinning table, "So you're rested, you're fed, tell me about Katerina".

"Most men get their power kick from torture and intimidation" Hayley said, "With you, it's drinks and fine dining".

"Something that makes him ever so charming" Lily teased, coming behind Klaus and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"In some cases, I favor hospitality over unpleasantness" Klaus said, placing a kiss on the back of Lily's hand, he then looked at Hayley, "But I have been known to change my mind on a whim, where is Katerina?".

"You seriously think I know?" Hayley asked.

"You tipped her off as to what we were up to and set her on a course to find the cure" Klaus reminded, "In return, she sent her lackey to snuff you out, tell me, what did Katerina promise you?".

"I was in New Orleans, trying to find information about my real parents" Hayley finally revealed, "Katherine found me and told me she could help".

"An orphan" Klaus realised, "Well, that does explain your charming bravado, abandonment issues do it every time".

"Sounds like you would know" Hayley taunted.

"We all do" Lily said, making Hayley look at her, "But for your own sake Hayley, Klaus is the only one who can protect you, don't get on his bad side".

Klaus smirked at Hayley, "What my little luna said".

With a drink in her hand, Hayley entered Klaus's painting room, "Hate that" she said, pointing towards one of Klaus's painting, she then started going through the ones behind it, "Too much, I don't get that", Hayley walked over to the table and grabbed a drawing, "I don't care", Hayley's eyes suddenly landed on a painting, "Hm, this one, doesn't make me wanna puke, why'd you paint it?".

"Painting is a metaphor for control" Klaus replied, "Every choice is mine, the canvas, the color, as a child, I had neither a sense of the world nor my place in it, but art taught me that one's vision can be achieved with sheer force of will, the same is true of life provided one refuses to let anything stand in one's way".

Hayley let out a scoff, "So this is your thing? Show a girl a few mediocre paintings, whine about your childhood and I swoon and spill all my dirty secrets?".

"Whatever charms I have, rest assured they aren't for you" Klaus said, "I only enjoy showing my charms to my one girl".

"And that one girl is definitely not you" Lily told Hayley.

Hayley turned and faced Lily, "I'm curious about something Lily, I thought Tyler was your best friend, so how could you allow Klaus to hunt him for the next century?".

"First of all, bold of you to assume Tyler will last a whole century" Lily said, making Klaus let out a laugh, "Second of all, I wasn't the one who betrayed Tyler, he did it first, from where I see it, whatever happens to him is karma".

"You talk a good game, but the truth is you let him go" Hayley said, "My guess? Cause deep down there is still a part of you that cares for him".

Lily let out a chuckle, "You really are delusional" she taunted, "Whatever happens between Klaus and Tyler, that's between them, I didn't let Tyler go that was Klaus's decision, I don't interfere in his matters, he doesn't interfere in mine, the recipe to a healthy relationship".

Hayley looked at Klaus, a curious look on her face, "Why didn't you kill Tyler?".

"If I simply killed Tyler, my revenge would be over in a moment" Klaus said, "Sentencing him to a lifetime of paranoia and fear, that's Tyler's true punishment, but come now, you never really thought there was a future for you two, did you?".

"I don't know, he might have left Caroline for me, if I'd use the cure to kill you" Hayley said, making Lily roll her eyes in response.

Klaus chuckled, "You know, if Tyler has even half your resolve, he may actually make it through the year".

Hayley shook her head, "It doesn't take resolve, it takes allies, a network of people willing to do anything for you including chase down loose ends to their death, that's how Katherine escaped you all this time".

"Perhaps you know the names of Katerina's special little helpers?" Klaus asked.

"Maybe I know one or two" Hayley replied, "Maybe I'll even tell you".

"Hayley is gone, Rebekah called to inform that her vampire assailant is dead" Klaus informed Lily as he entered his painting room where Lily was busy admiring all his paintings, "Are you going or staying?".

Lily turned around and faced Klaus, "How are you gonna convince me to stay?" she teased.

Klaus walked over to Lily, "Do I really have to convince you to stay?".

Lily smiled, "No not really, I'm already convinced" she whispered against Klaus's lips before smashing her lips on to Klaus's, Klaus smiled into the kiss before breaking the kiss for a moment to take both their shirts off, Klaus then lifted Lily up and placed her on top of the table and without wasting a second came on top of her.

Klaus and Lily laid in Klaus's bed, the sheets covering their naked bodies, with Lily's back to Klaus's chest, Klaus used his finger to trace patterns against Lily's back when suddenly his eyes landed on Lily's birth mark behind her shoulder.

"That mark, I've seen it before" Klaus whispered.

"It's a birthmark" a sleepy Lily informed, before turning around and hugging Klaus.

"In my considerable lifetime I've only seen that mark on a handful of others" Klaus admitted, making Lily remove her face from Klaus neck and look at the hybrid in confusion, "All from the same bloodline, a werewolf clan that thrived throughout much of what we now call Louisiana".

Lily lifted her head up from Klaus's chest and looked at the original hybrid, "Don't joke about something like this Klaus".

"I wouldn't dare little luna, I know how much you have been craving to know about your family, I would never lie to you about them" Klaus promised.

"Do you think Louisiana will have answers about my family?" a suddenly hopeful Lily asked.

"The only way to know is to go" Klaus asked, "But the question is, are you ready to know the truth about what really happened to your parents?".

Lily hesitated for a moment, "I have no idea" she admitted.
