16. Know Thy Enemy

"You have tremendous luck" Maddox, another one of Klaus's witches said, as the duo entered the apartment Klaus had compelled himself in Mystic Falls.

Klaus, who was busy painting, looking at Maddox in slight confusion, "How so?" he asked.

"What are the chances of you coming to Mystic Falls and not only finding the girl who has been in your dreams but also the doppelganger that will break your curse" Maddox replied.

"It's more fate then luck" Klaus retorted.

"Finding the doppelganger was part of your fate?" a confused Maddox asked.

"Not the doppelganger, Lily" Klaus corrected.

"You've only seen her eyes and heard her voice, if she comes infront of her, are you going to be able to recognise her?" Maddox asked, looking at Klaus's painting, which was another painting of Lily's eyes.

"She has eyes like no other, I will recognise her" Klaus assured, he then looked at Maddox, "Where's Isobel?".

"As per your plan, Isobel has gone to the doppelganger to inform her that there are rumors going around about the doppelganger being alive, she will then bring Katherine Pierce over to you" Maddox informed.

"And what about the human I'll be jumping into?" Klaus asked.

"I'm about to go retrieve the body now" Maddox replied.

"Then what are you waiting for?" Klaus asked, "Go on, go fetch the human, while I try to find Lily".

"Are you sure it's smart to go out in your real body?" Maddox asked.

"No one knows what I look like" Klaus reminded, "I will be fine".

"But if you're having dreams about Lily, what if she's having dreams about you as well?" Maddox asked, "What if she recognises you and tells everyone?".

Klaus looked at the eyes he was painting, "The risk would be worth it, I just need this mystery to finally solve itself, I need to know why I'm having dreams about someone I've never met in my life".

Lily was walking in the town square, she was rummaging through her bag trying to find her phone, not seeing where she was going, when suddenly she bumped into someone, causing her bag and most of the things in her bag to fall to the ground.

"Dammit" Lily whispered, bending down to pick everything up.

"Allow me" the stranger Lily bumped into said, bending down and helping Lily.

Lily looked up at the stranger in shock, she recognised his voice, it was the same voice that has been tormenting her dreams ever since she has come back to Mystic Falls.

"You" Lily whispered, "I know you".

The mysterious stranger looked at Lily, and as soon as his eyes met Lily, his eyes slightly widen, he recognised those eyes, it was the very eyes he was dying to come across.

"Laya".

Lily looked at the stranger infront of her in confusion, "I think you have the wrong person" she said, "I'm not Laya, I'm Lily".

The mysterious stranger infront of him quickly shook her head, "Right my bad, I'm Nik, nice to meet you Lily".

Lily looked at Nik's stretched hand, and after a moment of hesitation, Lily shook his hand, "You too" she whispered, looking at the man infront of her with immense interest.

"You seem like you've seen a ghost" Nik said, observing Lily's expression.

"Not a ghost, it just seems like my dream became a reality" a very confused Lily said, not knowing if this person infront was in fact the man from her dreams or not.

A knowing smirked formed on Nik's face, "I could say the same thing" he said.

Lily looked at Nik in slightly shock, "Do you know me?" she asked, wondering if the man infront for was dreaming about her, that would either confirm her suspicious or debunk her theory.

Nik shrugged, "I don't know love, do I know you?".

Lily narrowed her eyes at the smug looking british man infront of her, "Don't answer my question with another question".

Nik let out a small chuckle, he then stood up and forwarded his hand towards Lily, who this time without any hesitation placed her hand in his and let him pull her up.

"I'll see you around Lily" Nik said, reluctantly letting go of Lily's hand and stepping back from her.

"You didn't answer my question" Lily realised.

Nik looked at her and shrugged, "Patience is virtue, love".

"I don't have patience" Lily informed.

"You're going to have patience if you want to know about me and your dreams" Nik said, walking away from Lily.

Lily's eyes widen in shock, realising she was right, the guy that has been in her dreams for weeks, has finally arrived in her reality.

"You realise this new body isn't going to help you win your girl, right?" Maddox asked Klaus, as an unconscious Katherine laid on the floor, while an unconscious Alaric was placed on the chair, both of them caught because of Isobel, Elena's biological mother, who was now dead.

"My dreams will do that" Klaus replied.

"You're sure she's having dreams about you?" Maddox asked.

Klaus nodded and sat on the chair opposite to Alaric, "She recognised me, I saw it in her eyes, this history teacher will not only help me keep an eye on the doppelganger but also find more about Lily, so start the spell".

Maddox nodded his head, he then placed his hands on either side of Alaric's head and started chanting while Klaus closed his eyes.

An unconscious Katherine slowly started to gain conscious, she slowly sat up and looked at the scene infront of her in confusion, she couldn't see Klaus's body as Maddox was blocking it but she could see Maddox preforming a spell on Alaric, after a while he stopped chanting and Alaric stood up from his chair and turned to Katherine, who had also stood up.

"Alaric?" Katherine called out, confused as to why she was in Alaric's apartment.

Klaus, now in Alaric's body, took a small step towards Katherine but before he could reach her, Katherine tried to speed out the apartment but a barrier on the front door stopped her from leaving.

"Zdravei, Katerina" Klaus greeted, walking over to Katherine, "I have missed you".

Katherine's eyes finally landed on the other chair, where Klaus's body laid, she then looked at the man infront of her and realised Klaus had done his favorite trick in the book, jumping bodies.

"Klaus" Katherine whispered, as a sinister smirk formed on Alaric's face.

On the other side of town, Lily let out out a shocked gasp and sat up in her bed, sweating from the dream she just had.

"Shitting hell" Lily whispered.

What Klaus didn't know was that everything that currently happened in Alaric's apartment, all of that was seen by Lily in her dreams, she saw Maddox help, who she knew as Nik, to jump into Alaric's body and she heard Katherine call him Klaus, the person who was after her.

Lily rubbed her hands on her face in frustration, not knowing what to do now, does she tell someone or talk to Klaus herself?
