07. My Brother's Keeper

Lily sat in her room while on the phone with Stefan, "What the hell do you mean you're not going to Miss Mystic Falls pageant, if I'm going so are you and aren't you a member of the founding families, I thought it was compulsory for us to attend these events?".

"Elena and I broke up, by definition, I don't need to be anywhere" Stefan stated, doing push ups in the woods.

"You realise that sounds really depressing, right?" Lily asked.

"Oh, I'm not depressed" Stefan said, "I just want to rip into someone's artery and feed until I can't breathe anymore", Stefan stopped his push ups and laid on the ground.

"Sounds real healthy" Lily commented.

Stefan stared at the sky above him, "She said she has feelings for Damon".

Lily let out a sigh, "I really don't want to be that person, but as your best friend, I feel like I need to be that person and tell you that I told you so".

"Yeah you did" Stefan said, "I just didn't want to believe it".

"No one wants to believe that the woman they love has fallen in love with their brother" Lily said, "And if it makes you feel any better I'm pretty sure no one in Mystic Falls is going to be happy with Elena's decision of choosing Damon over you".

"Yeah well, I don't know what good that will do" Stefan said, "Elena's right, being a vampire really has changed her".

"Doesn't it change everyone?" Lily asked, "I can't believe I'm saying this because I really don't like her, but if you want the human Elena back, then your only solution is the cure".

"Yeah, I know" Stefan said, "Alright I gotta go, I'll call you back once I've figured out what to do".

"Please do and please don't rip someone's head in the meantime" Lily said.

"I'll try my best not to" Stefan assured, "Bye".

"Bye" Lily said, hanging up on the youngest Salvatore.

Once Lily hanged up the phone, Stefan stood up from the ground when suddenly Klaus showed up behind him and held him in a choke hold, "In what world do the words, tell no one, mean tell your brother and every teenage sycophant in town?".

Stefan groaned in pain, "The secret's safe, no one who knows about the cure will endanger us, trust me, you know I wanna find it more than anyone else".

"Well then I suggest you find some more vampires for Jeremy to kill before I'm tempted to offer you up as a victim" Klaus threatened, finally letting go of Stefan, "And try to keep this one to yourself, would you?".

"Okay, does no one in this damn town follow instructions?" an annoyed Lily asked, at the Miss Mystic Falls event, helping them prepare for the main event that was happening tomorrow.

After her call with Stefan, Liz had come into Lily's room and told her that she had volunteered Lily to go help at the pageant, and no matter how much Lily begged her mother not to do this to her, stating that attending the actually pageant was torture enough she didn't want to become another Caroline and start organizing events, Liz refused to budge, saying getting out of the house to do normal teenage things and not some supernatural secret mission will actually be good for Lily, that is how Lily ended up trying to get a bunch of girls to listen to her.

"If you three had read that damn floral chart my sister gave to you guys to memorize, you will know that these flowers are supposed to go in the back" Lily said, she clapped her hands together, "So let's go put them in the back, thank you".

As the girls walked away, Lily let out an annoyed sigh, she has been here for half an hour and already she was so done.

"Now, this is the one place I'd least expect you to be".

Lily turned around and immediately a huge smile formed on her face seeing Klaus walking over to her, "Hey, what are you doing here?".

"I went to your house and your mother told me you would be here" Klaus informed.

"And did she also tell you that I'm unwillingly here?" Lily asked.

"She did" Klaus laughed, "So I was wondering what time I should pick you up tomorrow".

"Tomorrow?" a confused Lily asked.

"Well, I've never been to this event before but I'm pretty sure people attending these kind of events usually go with a date" Klaus said.

Lily smiled at Klaus, "Is the big bad hybrid asking me out on a date?".

"Possibly" Klaus said.

Lily chuckled, "Okay Klaus, you can be my date tomorrow, meet me here at 2, oh and it is a black tie event so come prepared, I'll be looking really good tomorrow and I need my date to look good as well".

Klaus laughed, "I don't doubt that you will be the most beautiful girl here, little luna, so see you tomorrow then?".

Lily nodded her head, "See you tomorrow, Klaus".

Lily's look for the Miss Mystic pageant

Next morning, Lily was forced by her sister to help April decide a dress for the pageant, and at this point, Lily was getting really annoyed at people forcing her to do things she didn't want to do but since she actually kind of liked April, for the first time in probably forever, Lily agreed to help her without complaining.

"Blue" Elena and Caroline told April.

"Really?" an unsure April asked, "The blue seems a little safe".

"Safe is good when it comes to the judges" Elena assured.

"She's right, Gracie Lockwood had a 3-foot slit her year and practically got laughed off the court" Caroline said.

"Yeah but April's dress doesn't have a 3-foot slit" Lily pointed out, "The red dress is hot, April if you want a make an impression on the judges, I say go with the red one".

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with little Forbes" Damon said, walking over to the girls.

"Don't call me little Forbes" Lily snapped, glaring at the oldest Salvatore.

"Get out, lurker" Caroline said, throwing a scrunchie at Damon's face.

"Ouch" Damon said sarcastically, not even slightly hurt by the scrunchie, "Where's Professor Shane?".

"Check the judges table" Caroline said, going to shut the door on Damon's face but he opened it up again.

Damon looked at April, "Red one, definitely".

"Someone kill me now, me and Damon Salvatore have the same taste" Lily said, pretending to vomit.

"We've already agreed that the red one's a little bit too showy" Caroline told Damon.

"Not we, them" Lily said, pointing at Caroline and Elena.

"it's a pageant, it's the whole point" Damon pointed out.

"Agreed" Lily said, she then shuddered in disgust, "I can't believe I just said agreed to something Damon said".

"Trust me, neither can I" Damon said.

"Did either of you win Miss Mystic last year?" Caroline asked Damon and Lily, "No, I don't think you did".

"I wasn't here last year" Lily reminded, "Who knows maybe I would have won if I was here", Lily looked at April, "And if I did participate, I would definitely be wearing that red dress".

"And neither did Elena win and she wore blue" Damon reminded Caroline.

"Nobody cares what you think" a frustrated Caroline said.

"I care" April clarified.

"See?" Damon said, "April cares, red, right, Elena?".

Caroline looked at her best friend, expecting her to take her side, but to her shock, she ended up supporting Damon, "The red is pretty".

"And my work here is done" a smug Damon said, while the two sisters looked at Elena with frowns on their faces.

Once Damon walked away, Caroline turned to Elena, "Uh, what happened to thirty seconds ago when you hated the red one? What happened to safe is good?".

Elena looked slightly confused at her actions, she shook her head and looked at April, "Whichever one you wanna wear, April" she said, before rushing after Damon.

"What just happened?" an extremely confused Caroline asked her sister.

"Your best friend doesn't have an option of her own that's what happened" Lily said.

Lily walked over to the band, "Hey buddy, just so you know we're not at a funeral, mind picking up the tempo a bit?".

Lily turned to walk away from the band when she saw Klaus walking towards her, "And how am I doing?".

Lily smiled at the hybrid, "Right now you're the only one whose actually, perfect".

"I was right, you know" Klaus said, taking a step closer to Lily, who gave him a confused look, "Out of all the girls here, you look the most beautiful".

"You're just saying that to flatter me" Lily said, a light tinge of red appearing on her cheeks.

"No I'm saying that because it's the truth" Klaus said, he then forwarded his hand towards the werewolf, "Shall we?".

With a huge smile on her face, Lily placed her hand into Klaus's, "We shall".

While Lily was spending time with Klaus and watching the dance, Caroline rushed over to her, after saying it was urgent, she pulled Lily over to where Elena was.

"Hey, what's with the last minute escort change?" Caroline asked Elena, "Where is Jeremy?".

"Does Matt even know this dance?" Lily asked, "What if he ruins this for poor April?".

"I'm calling Jeremy right now" Elena informed, just as Damon walked over to them, "He's not picking up".

"Do the math, emo teen, open bar, it's fine" Damon assured.

"Jeremy isn't the type of guy to just abandon April like this" Lily defended.

"Matt said that Jeremy's been having nightmares about killing vampires and he's been hiding it from me" Elena revealed.

Damon shrugged his shoulders, "Relax, I'm sure he's fine".

"I don't know, I have a bad feeling" an extremely worried Elena admitted.

"If I'm not worried, you shouldn't be worried, let it go" Damon said, "I'll go look for him".

"Okay" Elena said, Damon's words helping decrease her worry for her brother.

Once Damon left, Caroline turned to Elena, "Okay, you go home, me and Lily are gonna start asking around here".

"Maybe Damon's right, maybe he grabbed a bottle from the bar and snuck off to the woods" Elena said.

"Uh no" an angry Lily said, "Am I the only one who believes that Jeremy isn't the type of guy to abandon a girl after promising be her escort? And since when have we starting associating the word right with Damon? He's not right, he is sneaky, manipulative and down right rude, and every bad adjective that could possible describe him, how can you not see that Elena?".

"I don't know, but why do I think that you won't hesitate to tell me?" Elena snapped, hating Lily bad mouth Damon.

"Of course I won't hesitate to tell you" Lily snapped back, "I think that ever since you've turned into a vampires, you've lost your mind, your letting your so called feelings for Damon cloud your judgment"

"You don't get to say that, your feelings for Klaus cloud your judgment as well" Elena retorted.

"Don't bring Klaus into this" Lily snapped, just as Klaus walked over to him, "Klaus never clouded my judgment, despite having feelings for him, I have an opinion of my own, I don't just agree to everything he says, which you are currently doing Elena, having feelings for someone doesn't mean you lose yourself!".

Klaus quickly wrapped his around the furious Lily's waist, "Easy little luna, you're making a scene".

"Wow Lily, thank you for making this very difficult time so much easier" a hurt Elena said.

"I'm not your friend Elena, I'm not going to sugar coat things for you" Lily stated, "Look, I don't care about you having feelings for Damon, yes it makes me wanna barf but it's your life and I can't tell you what to do, but it's wrong to stop thinking for yourself just because of some feelings".

"Come on love, let's get you a drink" Klaus said, taking Lily away from the confrontation, knowing if they stayed any longer, Lily's anger will just keep getting worse because no matter what she said, Elena would just not understand her because Lily's words had made Klaus figure out something about Damon and Elena.

"See, this is why I don't like this town and the people in it" Lily ranted to Klaus, as the two walked by lake, "You tell me, did anything I say sound illogical to you?".

"Not at all" an amused Klaus said.

"Thank you!" Lily exclaimed, "I mean I don't even like Elena and yet I'm trying to help her see the errors of her way but she's not gonna listen to me, I mean, why do I even try with the people in this damn town?!".

"So what I'm getting out of your rant is that you think being a vampire has changed her" Klaus said.

"Yeah but that's what confuses me" Lily said, "I thought being a vampire doesn't change a person, it just emphasizes everything they already were, right?".

"It's very peculiar" an amused Klaus admitted.

Lily looked at Klaus's amused expression in confusion, "Why do you look so amused?".

"It'll all make sense eventually" Klaus assured.

"Okay" a confused Lily said, "Just hurry and find the this cure, I don't know how much longer I can stop myself from biting Elena".

"I'm working on it" Klaus said, as the two took a seat on a bench and Klaus proceeded to proceeded to pour the two of them a glass of champagne each.

Lily looked at Klaus with a curious look on her face, "You know, I never asked you if you would ever take the cure?".

"Now why would I want to cure myself of being the most powerful creature on the planet?" Klaus teased.

"So not once in your thousand years of life did you stop and wish that you were human?" Lily asked, Klaus just gave Lily a what do you think look, "You know, werewolves aren't immortal".

Klaus looked at Lily, "Why are you saying this Lily?".

Lily shrugged, "Just letting you know, one day, I will be gone".

"Or you can turn into a hybrid" Klaus retorted.

"You don't have any doppelganger blood" Lily reminded.

"Yet" Klaus stated, he then looked at Lily, "Would you turn into a hybrid?".

Lily looked at Klaus, "If I refuse will you force me to turn?".

Klaus immediately shook his head, "I would never force you to turn into a hybrid little luna, if I wanted to do that I would have done that a long time ago".

"You have a soft spot for me" Lily teased.

"You just realised that?" Klaus said.

Lily laughed, "No I knew, I'm just confirming" she said, making Klaus shake his head at her in amusement.

"I never answered your question if I'd ever thought about being human" Klaus remembered, as him and Lily walked next to the lake, hand in hand, "Once I was on a trek in the Andes and a hummingbird flew up to me, it just hovered there staring at me, its tiny heart was pattering like a machine gun, and I thought, what a thing, you know to have to work that hard every day just to stay alive, to be constantly on the verge of death, and how satisfying every day must be that it survived, and that was the only time I thought about being human".

A small smile appeared on Lily's face after hearing Klaus, he never failed to surprise to her with his words, everytime Lily thought she had figured Klaus Mikaelson out, he did or said something that made her realise there was still so much more about Klaus that she had to discover and honestly she couldn't wait to discover all the different layers Klaus Mikaelson had.

Once the Miss Mystic Falls event had ended, Lily went home with Klaus, after changing, Klaus entered the living room to see Lily sitting infront of the fireplace, still in her dress from the event.

"Are you not going to change?" Klaus asked, taking a seat next to Lily.

Lily shook her head, "Not yet" she said.

Klaus observed Lily's facial expression and realised she was thinking deep about something, "What are you thinking about?".

Lily looked at Klaus, "You asked me if I will ever turn into a hybrid", Klaus nodded his head, "If you were to ask me this question before, I would have flat out said no, I would never be a hybrid, I don't want to live forever, I have nothing to live forever for".

"And now?" Klaus asked.

"And now, things have changed" Lily admitted, "I'm in love with an original hybrid, me, Lily Forbes, the girl everyone in this town thought no one could love, that girl has fallen in love, now don't get me wrong, I tried fighting it, I tried so hard".

"Why?" Klaus asked.

"Because I'm terrified" Lily whispered.

"Of me?" Klaus asked.

Lily shook her head, "Of love" she clarified, "It's not something I've ever felt, and now that I have fallen for you, I can't see myself ever falling out of love, and that terrifies me".

"Lily, I would never break your heart" Klaus promised, grabbing Lily's hand in his, "Trust me little luna, you are everything I've been searching for in the past thousand years".

"And you are everything I ever wanted, I just didn't know it" Lily said, "So yes, if you promise to be my side for eternity, I would turn into a hybrid, just for you and because I don't want anything to separate us, not even death".

After giving Klaus a small smile, Lily stood up from the couch, Klaus, who was still holding on to her hand, stopped her from walking away, Lily looked at Klaus in confusion, but Klaus didn't say anything, he just stood up from the couch and pulled Lily into a kiss, Klaus's hands went to Lily's waist, while Lily placed one of her hand on Klaus's cheek and the other on the back of his neck.

Klaus broke the kiss and looked into Lily's eyes, looking for any sign of refusal or discomfort, when he found nothing a smile appeared on his face, he once again placed his lips on Lily's but this time he picked her up by her waist, causing the Forbes werewolf to wrap her legs around Klaus's waist, Klaus then carefully placed Lily on the couch and after taking his shirt off, hovered over her.

Klaus once again started kissing Lily while one of his hands started trailing Lily's leg, from her thigh all the way up to her underwear while Lily's hands worked on unbuttoning Klaus's pants, once his hand finally landed on her underwear, Klaus broke the kiss and looked at Lily, who simply nodded her head, and that was all Klaus needed to officially make Lily his.
