07. Masquerade

After getting ready for the Lockwood's masquerade party, Caroline entered her sister's room, to see her busy doing her hair, her make up all done, and her dress laying on her bed.

"Hey" Caroline greeted.

"Look who finally showed me her face today" Lily teased.

"Sorry" Caroline apologised, grabbing the curling wand from Lily's hand and doing the rest of her hair, "It's been a hectic day".

"Do I even want to know?" Lily asked.

"Damon and Stefan are planning to kill Katherine at the masquerade ball tonight" Caroline informed, though Damon had warned her not to tell Lily anything, she couldn't keep this from her.

"Katherine?" Lily asked, "As in Elena's doppelganger who threatened you?".

"That's the one" Caroline confirmed.

Lily shrugged, "Sucks for her then" she said, not really caring what happened to this Katherine person, someone she had never met or ever knew.

"Just be careful tonight, okay?" Caroline said, "Please Lily, for me, stay out of trouble".

"Relax Caroline, I'm going to this ball to enjoy myself not to get into any trouble" Lily assured.

"Good, because I already have too much to worry about, I don't want to worry about you as well" Caroline said.

"Yes, mother" Lily teased, "Now can you fix my make up, I think I did something wrong".

Caroline shook her head at her sister and after finishing her hair, proceeding to help Lily with her make up and dress.

After arriving at the masquerade ball together, both Lily and Caroline split up, with Caroline gone to help the Salvatore's in their plan and Lily over to Tyler.

"So Mason's really gone?" Lily asked Tyler, as they stood to the side together.

"Yeap" Tyler replied, "And my mom thinks we won't hear from him anytime soon".

Lily sighed, "Ty, before leaving did Mason tell you anything about my biological parents?".

"Your biological parents?" a confused Tyler asked.

Lily nodded, "He found something out, he called me when I was in New Jersey, he said he will tell me when we meet, it's actually one of the main reasons I came back to Mystic Falls, but he never ended up telling me".

"I'm sorry Lils, but Mason didn't say anything to me" Tyler informed, giving Lily an apologetic look.

"Just my luck" Lily mumbled.

"Hey, you'll find your biological parents" Tyler assured.

"You mean I'll find out how they died" Lily retorted.

"Whatever it is, you'll eventually know, just give it some time" Tyler said.

"I don't know how much more time I can give it" Lily admitted, "I just want to know them Ty, I just want to know what they were like, were they werewolves like me? Did they love me? Hell did they even want me?".

"Of course they wanted you" Tyler comforted, "How can someone not want you?".

"A lot of people don't want me" Lily pointed out.

"Those people are idiots then" Tyler retorted.

"You're just saying that as my best friend" Lily stated.

"No, I'm saying that as someone who knows you, knows the type of person you are" Tyler said, "Yeah you are extremely stubborn and violent, but you have a heart of gold".

"Can violent people have a heart of gold?" Lily asked, a teasing tone in her voice.

"You're the exception" Tyler teased, making Lily laugh.

"That I am" Lily agreed.

After Tyler went to talk to Matt, Lily started making her way towards the buffet table, on her way she ended up bumping into a girl.

"Woah, careful" Lily said, grabbing the girl by her arms and steadying her, "Are you okay?".

The girl who Lily saved, looked at Lily in shock, "It's you" she whispered.

Lily looked at the mystery girl in front of her in confusion, not knowing what she was on about, "It's me, what?" she asked.

"You're their redemption".

"I'm sorry, what?" an extremally confused Lily asked, "Who are you talking about?".

The mystery girl suddenly came out of the trance that touching Lily had put her in and immediately stepped away from her, "I'm sorry" she apologised, "Please forget what I said", before Lily could ask anymore question, the girl turned around and ran away from her.

"Hey!" Lily yelled, but she didn't turn instead kept running until she was outside.

After reaching outside and making sure Lily hadn't followed her, the mystery girl pulled out her phone and dialed someone.

"Rose, it's me Lucy, I found her, I found the girl who will help you get your freedom from Klaus and Elijah".

After her weird encounter with that girl, Lily grabbed herself some food and went to the Lockwood's office, on her way she came across her sister.

"You look happy" Lily said.

"That's because I did my part" Caroline said, grabbing some food off of Lily's plate.

"Your part in the killing Katherine plan?" Lily asked.

Caroline nodded in response, "Tonight Katherine dies, meaning no more blackmailing for me and no more life threatening for you" she said.

"Sounds fun" Lily said, as the two sister entered the Lockwood's office together.

As soon as Lily and Caroline entered the office both the Forbes sister's were shocked seeing Tyler and Matt fighting.

"What is going on?" a confused Caroline asked, as Lily put her food down and both the sisters separated the two best friends from each other, with Lily restraining Tyler and Caroline stopping Matt.

"Stop, Matt!" Caroline yelled, as her ex-boyfriend trashed in her grip, trying to attack Tyler again, but Lily quickly stood infront of Tyler, in case Matt managed to get out of Caroline's grip.

"I can't, let me go, I have to finish" Matt snapped.

"What the hell's wrong with you?" a shocked Tyler asked, wondering why Matt was so hell bent on fighting with him.

"Let me go!" Matt yelled at Caroline.

Caroline looked at Matt in confusion, and suddenly her eyes widened, realising why Matt was acting like this, he was compelled, so without wasting another second, Caroline knocked Matt out.

"Oh wow" Lily whispered, looking at her sister with a impressive look.

While both Lily and Tyler were looking at Caroline and Matt, they failed to see Sarah grab a knife from the table and slowly walk behind Tyler.

"Matt failed" Sarah whispered, "If Matt fails, I can't".

Lily turned to face Tyler, that's when her eyes landed on Sarah about to stab him, "Tyler!" she yelled.

Tyler immediately turned around and Sarah ended up stabbing him in the shoulder, Tyler shoved Sarah away from him causing her head to hit the study table.

"Are you okay?" a concerned Lily asked, taking the knife out of Tyler's shoulder.

But Tyler wasn't paying any attention to Lily's words, his attention was now on a unconscious Sarah, he kneeled by her body and started panicking seeing her not moving, "No, no, no, come on, wake up" he pleaded, shaking Sarah's body, "Sarah, Sarah, open your eyes, wake up, this can't happen, oh, no, this can't happen, this can't be happening, Sarah, Sarah, get up, Sarah, open your eyes! Oh, god, oh, this can't be happening".

A panicked Tyler stood up and walked away from Sarah's body, Lily then kneeled by Sarah, she put her fingers on her neck and tried to find a pulse, but failed, she then looked at Tyler in concern as he suddenly started yelling, she knew what was happening to him, it was something she never wanted her best friend to go through, because she knew, that though she didn't mind the curse, Tyler will never be able to handle it.

"Ty" A worried Lily called out, standing up and facing her best friend.

Tyler fell to the floor and started yelling.

"Lily, what's happening to him?" a confused Caroline asked.

"He's triggering his curse" Lily informed.

Just as Lily said that, Tyler looked up at the two sisters, his eyes now glowing yellow.

"Matt and I were fighting, we broke up, you know" Caroline told Carol Lockwood, while she looked down at Sarah's body in shock, "And Sarah was drunk, and dancing, and she just tripped, then she wasn't breathing".

Carol looked between Caroline and Lily, "Okay, your mom's on her way" she informed, "And we called Sarah's parents, it was an accident, it was a terrible, tragic accident".

"Mom" Tyler called, entering the room, "The sheriff's here".

Carol sighed, "I'll go prepare her, just don't leave, just stay here, okay?" she told both Caroline and Lily, "She's going to wanna hear the story from you two".

After Carol left, Tyler walked over to Sarah's dead body and for a moment just stared at it.

"Matt's in the car, sleeping it off" Caroline informed, breaking the silence that was looming in the room, "I'll deal with him, I don't want him involved in any of this".

Tyler looked between the two sisters, "What are you two doing?" he asked confused.

"Helping you out" Lily finally spoke.

"Why?" Tyler asked, "I did this, I killed her".

"No Tyler" Lily said, "You didn't kill her, she attacked you and you just defended yourself, that's not called murder, it's called self defense".

"But she's dead, Lily" Tyler snapped, "You know what that means".

"Yeah Tyler, I do know what that means" Lily said, "And I know right now things seem really shit but you're not alone, I'm right here, you're going to get through this Tyler, you just have to believe".

For a moment Tyler looked at Lily, then without saying another word, he walked out the Lockwood's office.

Lily sighed, she turned to her sister, "I'm leaving" she informed.

"But mom--".

"Mom doesn't need both of us to repeat the same story again and again" Lily said, walking out of the Lockwood's office, really tired because of everything that happened tonight, first her weird encounter with the girl and now Tyler triggering his curse, Lily was honestly done with this night and she was ready for it to end, but little did she know, the night wasn't over just yet.

Lily grabbed her keys from her clutch, just as she put her key in the car door, she suddenly saw someone come behind her through her window reflection, Lily immediately turned around and saw a masked man standing behind her but before she react, the masked man had taken an injection out of his pocket and injected Lily with it, immediately causing Lily to fall unconscious.
