19. Pictures Of You

Lily, Elijah, Rebekah and Klaus sat on the dinning table at Klaus's mansion, both Rebekah and Klaus were trying to convince Elijah to hand the cure over to them while Lily was there to play the mediator and make sure things didn't go out of hand between the siblings.

"Elijah, being human means a fresh start" Rebekah said, "I can grow old and have a family and fill my days with meaning, knowing that each one matters".

"Well, that was poetic" an amused Klaus said.

"Well, if you can provide us with a more compelling reason for wanting the cure Klaus, please" Elijah said.

"Silas can appear as anyone" Klaus reminded, "He got inside my thoughts, convinced me I was dying, he will torment me until I give him the cure".

"And in doing so, he will break down the wall to the other side" Rebekah argued.

"So it doesn't trap him there when he dies" Klaus retorted, before turning back to Elijah, "He wants to reunite with his lost soulmate, you, of all lovesick fools, should applaud his devotion".

"He will open the floodgates for every supernatural being that has ever died" Rebekah snapped.

"Including our dear brothers Kol and Finn" Klaus said, "We'll have our family back".

"Oh please, you hated Kol" Rebekah stated, "And you kept Finn in a box for most of his life".

"Elijah, please" Klaus said.

Elijah looked at Lily, "Any thoughts?".

"Nope, I am not getting into this, this is all on you, I'm just here for moral support" Lily said, she gave Elijah's shoulder a little pat, "Good luck, looks like you're gonna need a lot of it".

"Seems so" an amused Elijah said, before turning to his brother, "Your personal discomfort might not be sufficient reason for putting the entire world in jeopardy Klaus, I think our sister deserves a shot at happiness".

"Tell me you're joking" an angry Klaus said, "Tell me you're not fating me to an eternity of torture".

"I've made my decision" Elijah stated.

A furious Klaus turned to Rebekah, "When you're sick and dying and you beg for my blood, I will laugh in your face and compel you to forget me", Klaus then stood up from his chair and stormed out of the room.

"I'm going to go make sure he doesn't do anything Klaus like" Lily said, quickly standing up and rushing after Klaus, leaving Rebekah and Elijah alone to discuss the cure.

Rebekah and Lily walked down the streets of Mystic Falls.

"So let me guess this straight, if you go a day without using any vampire privileges, like no strength, no compulsion, no drinking blood, then only will Elijah give you the cure?" Lily asked.

"Yeap" Rebekah confirmed.

"Don't think of this as me not having any faith in you, because I probably have more faith in you then your brothers do" Lily said.

"Facts" Rebekah said.

"But if you want to go a whole day without using your vampire powers, why not just lock yourself inside your room, thats the safest thing to do, not shop for prom dresses" Lily continued.

"Name me a more human experience than senior prom" Rebekah challenged.

"I can name you about two hundred things that are more human then senior prom" Lily retorted.

"Why should I listen to you?" Rebekah asked, "You're not even a vampire".

"But I am your best friend" Lily reminded, "And all I want is the best for you".

"Then come with me to prom" Rebekah suggested, "Keep an eye on me and make sure I pass Elijah's test".

"I love you Rebekah, but I am not coming to prom" Lily stated.

"I don't get why you hate prom so much" Rebekah said.

"And I don't get why people get so excited over a stupid dance" Lily said.

"You really need to learn to appericate the little things in life" Rebekah said.

"I do appericate the little things in life" an offended Lily said, "I just don't appericate stupid dances", both Lily and Rebekah entered a dress boutique together, as soon as they entered, Lily saw Caroline and Bonnie standing there, "Nope".

Lily turned to walk out the door but Rebekah grabbed the back of her shirt and forced her to stand still, "Stay".

"I'm not an dog" Lily snapped.

"If you're not coming to prom then you are not allowed to leave me when dress shopping" Rebekah stated.

"You're not coming to prom?" a shocked Caroline asked her sister, having heard her and Rebekah's conversation.

"Why is the fact that I'm not coming to prom so shocking to everyone?" a confused Lily wondered, "Doesn't everyone know how much I hate interacting with people?".

"You seem to interact fine with the Mikaelsons" Caroline taunted.

"Because unlike some people they actually make an effort to understand me" Lily taunted back.

"Are you implying I don't understand you?" a slightly offended Caroline asked her sister.

"She's not implying that, she is saying that" Rebekah stated.

"Don't speak between us" Caroline snapped at Rebekah.

"Why?" Lily asked, "Your friends are allowed to speak between us but my can't? Honestly Caroline, I can't be asked wasting anymore of my breath on you".

Before Caroline could stop her, Lily had walked to the other side of the boutique to check out some dresses for Rebekah and Rebekah quickly followed after her, knowing if she left her alone for too long, Lily would disappear on her.

Klaus entered his living room where he saw Lily sitting infront of the fireplace, "And may I ask why you're not at this prom Rebekah's been blabbering about?".

"Don't pretend like you don't know why" Lily retorted.

Klaus let out a small chuckle, "You know, one day you're gonna have to let go of this hatred of socializing with new people".

"I know" Lily said, "But that one day, isn't today".

Klaus took a moment to just stare at Lily, he then walked closer to her and held out his hand towards her, making Lily give him a confused look, "If you're not going to enjoy yourself at prom, then enjoy yourself with me, come on little luna, dance with me".

"There's no music" Lily reminded.

Klaus grabbed Lily's hand in his hand pulled her up, "We don't need music" he stated, as he pulled Lily against him, and immediately the two started swaying.

"Hmm, this is nice" Lily whispered after a moment of silence, as she rested her head on Klaus's shoulder.

"I agree" Klaus whispered in Lily's ear, before spinning her around and then dipping her down, making the Forbes werewolf laugh, he then pulled her back up and placed his lips on to hers, and Lily didn't waste a second in kissing him back.

After their little moment, Klaus and Lily walked into Klaus's art room where Elijah had called them, the moment they entered both their eyes went wide seeing the indestructible white oak stake in Elijah's hand.

"Where did you get that?" a shocked Klaus asked his older brother.

"Our baby sister" Elijah informed, "Once she's human, it'll make no difference to her whatsoever, take it", Elijah forwarded the stake towards his brother.

Klaus grabbed the stake off his brother and looked at him with a suspicious look on his face, "Why would you give me this?" he asked.

"We are immortal apart from the stake" Elijah reminded, "Now that it's yours, you have nothing to fear".

"Silas will continue to torment me" Klaus argued.

"You've survived endless torments throughout the centuries" Elijah argued back, "You'll shake this, and if you can't, you'll outrun him".

Klaus let out a humorless laugh, "Yes, it's that simple" he said sarcastically, "Without the cure, what makes you think I'll spare your beloved Katerina? Or have you figured out, you're simply another fly in her web?".

"Klaus" Lily warned, she didn't want Klaus to say something hurtful to his own brother.

"You will spare her because I am asking you to spare her" Elijah said, "As your family, as your only living brother, I would ask that you provide me with this opportunity to feel, to care, to love", Elijah glanced at Lily, "You got an opportunity to experience love, so why can't I?".

"I gave you that opportunity, and you sided against me" Klaus said, "So if I run, it will be to chase her, and as your only living brother, I will make it my cause that you never know a moment of happiness".

"It is such a hollow little life that you lead, Niklaus" Elijah taunted, before walking out the room, while walking out, Elijah passed Lily, who grabbed his wrist.

Lily looked at Elijah, "I'm so sorry Elijah".

"You have nothing to apologise for Lily" Elijah assured, he glanced back at his brother who was already look at him and Lily, "But do me a favor, teach my brother how to care, something tells me you're the only who can".

After Elijah walked away, Lily looked at Klaus, who looked at her for a moment before he turned his back to her, for some reason he was finding it hard to look Lily in the eyes, Lily let out a defeated sigh and shook her head at Klaus's behaviour.

Matt was out in the woods, he wrapped his jacket around April who Elena had attacked after she didn't make Rebekah the prom queen and instead made Bonnie prom queen, after making sure April was fine, Matt walked over to Rebekah, who was also there, she had given her blood to April in order to save her life.

"Thank you for saving her" a grateful Matt told Rebekah.

"Lily was right" an emotional Rebekah said, "I should have just stayed home".

"No one has to know what you did" Matt suggested, "I won't tell anyone".

"You'd really do that for me?" an hopeful Rebekah asked.

"I would" Matt replied, "And maybe I was a little harsh earlier, you wouldn't make the worst human".

"Are you offering me a job as a bus boy?" Rebekah teased, "You know, I'd look cute in an apron".

Matt smiled, "We'll see" he said, he took a moment to stare at Rebekah before coming back to reality, "I should probably get April home".

"Okay" Rebekah whispered, she watched as Matt walked back to April.

"Try to stand up" Matt told April, as he helped April stand up from the ground and very carefully took her away.

"Dear sweet April Young" Klaus said, coming out of the shadows and announcing his presence to his sister once both April and Matt were gone, "Now, there's a girl with a future".

"She was dying, and I acted with human decency" Rebekah defended, "You can't get more human than that".

"Actually, you can" Klaus stated, "You can stand idly by as poor April takes her final breath, you can ask, why does this always happen to innocent people? Where do the spirits go? Was there anything I could have done? That is what it means to be human sister, you give humanity too much credit".

"You're gonna tell Elijah" Rebekah realised.

"No" Klaus said, "No, you are".

"Why is it so hard for you to let me be happy?" a furious Rebekah asked her brother.

"Because your happiness comes at my expense of my sanity" Klaus snapped, "Because I refuse to entertain yet another one of your whims, because you are bored and you're looking for a reason to matter, thankfully I don't have to waste any more breath fighting you on the subject".

"What does that mean?" a confused Rebekah asked her brother as he walked away from her, "Nik, what does that mean?!".

Lily entered the Mikaelson's mansion and immediately she was confused seeing a letter addressed to Klaus placed on the bar, she picked it up and looked behind her where Klaus stood.

"What is that?" a curious Klaus asked.

"A letter addressed to you" Lily informed.

"Well open it, let's see who it's from" Klaus said, standing behind Lily as she opened the letter.

"Klaus, I hear Elijah has refused you the cure, and in return, you have refused me my freedom" Lily read out, as Klaus read the letter over her shoulder, "Shame on you both, but while you boys sort out your problems, I have one last thing to offer you, I've caught wind that there is a witch in New Orleans named Jane-Anne Deveraux plotting a move against you and Lily, hunt her down, what she has to say will rattle both of you so deeply to your core that chasing little old me will be the least of your concerns, oh and tell Lily to find Hayley, she's in New Orleans as well and she has some interesting information about Lily's family, it's been a fun five centuries Klaus, but I've worn down too many good heels running from you, love and hate, Katerina".

After reading the letter, both Klaus and Lily looked at each other in concern, both wondering what the witch in New Orleans was plotting against them and what did Hayley know about Lily's family.

"Pack your bags little luna, looks like we're off to New Orleans" Klaus said.
