15. All My Children

"Morning" Lily greeted, walking into the living room where Kol sat.

"Morning, darling" Kol greeted, giving Lily a huge smile, for some odd reason, just like Rebekah, Kol found it really easy to like the werewolf whose fate was connected to his hybrid brother.

"Where's everyone?" Lily asked, sitting next to Kol on the couch.

"Finn is somewhere being Finn, Elijah is being Elijah, Rebekah hasn't been home all night--".

"Wait, all night?" an amused Lily asked.

"All night" an equally amused Kol replied.

"What are we talking about?" Klaus asked, entering the room and seeing Lily and Kol talking.

"Did you know that Rebekah hasn't been home all night?" an excited Lily asked.

"I'm aware" Klaus said, sitting on the other side of Lily, his sketch pad in hand, "Kol has been broadcasting it all morning".

Lily turned to Kol, "Who do you think she spent the night with?".

"I don't know but I sure hope it's someone better then that commoner she brought to the party" Kol said, just as the front doo shutting caught the attention of the trio.

"Is that--?" Lily asked.

Kol smirked, "It is" he smirked, getting off the couch just as Rebekah, still dressed in last night's clothes, entered the room, "Well, well, well, there's our girl".

Rebekah tried to walk past Kol but before she could Lily blocked her path, she once again tried to move past the duo but this time Kol blocked her path.

"Who was it?" a eager Lily asked, though she wasn't the gossiping type, Lily found that she quiet liked gossiping with the Mikaelson's.

"Out all night, what a scandal" Kol teased, "I trust you did better than that commoner Matt, was it?".

Kol looked at Lily who nodded her head in confirmation, "Come on Rebekah, at least tell me, we are nearly best friends" Lily said.

"If you two don't shut your mouth, the next thing to come out of it will be your teethes" Rebekah threatened the duo.

"Oh please, you like me to much for that" Lily said, not taking Rebekah's threat seriously, while Klaus, who still sat on the couch let out a small chuckle.

"Don't start, Nik" Rebekah warned, already dealing with Kol and Lily was bad enough, she knew if Klaus joined them as well, escaping will be impossible.

"I didn't say anything" Klaus defended, busy sketching away.

"I'm bored, our sister is a strumpet" Kol said, sitting on the couch infront of Klaus.

"Rude" Lily commented, sitting next to Klaus.

"But true" Kol retorted, making Rebekah glare at him, "But at least she's having fun, I need entertainment".

"What are you waiting for?" Klaus asked, "Go on, have at it".

"It's no fun to go alone, you and Lily join me, Nik" Kol pleaded.

"I'm in" Lily said, making Kol smile.

The duo then turned towards Klaus who refused to lift his head up from his sketchpad, "It's the least you could do after sticking a dagger in my heart" Kol said, trying to guilt trap his brother.

Lily poked Klaus's arm, "Come on Klaus, this is probably going to be the first and last time I'm willingly to go to a bar without anyone forcing me".

"Yeah, why is that?" a confused Rebekah asked, "You are an antisocial person, why are you so happy and eager to go out today?".

"Is me being happy  and wanting to socialize a crime, Rebekah Mikaelson?" Lily asked.

Rebekah narrowed her eyes at her friend, "Something happened last night, didn't it?" she realised, "What happened?".

Lily's eyes went wide, not expecting Rebekah to say that, she glanced at Klaus who was already looking at her, neither knowing what to say.

"Bloody hell!" Rebekah suddenly yelled, having seen Lily and Klaus look at each other, "Something happened between the two of you!".

Kol looked between Klaus and Lily, "Did you two sleep together?".

"No!", "Mind your business, Kol!" Lily and Klaus said at the same time.

"You know what, I'm going to go home and change into something else, I'll see you two at the bar" Lily said, quickly rushing out the room.

"Lily, you can't run from me!" Rebekah yelled after her.

"Already did!" Lily yelled back.

Rebekah turned back to her amused brother, "That reaction right there proves something happened, so tell me what happened between you two, Nik?!".

"We kissed, okay?!" Klaus finally revealed, standing up from his seat, "Happy now?!".

"So our sister isn't the only one who had a colorful night" Kol teased.

"Shut up, Kol" Klaus and Rebekah said stimuteanously.

Rebekah turned back to Klaus, "Do you fancy her?".

"Isn't it obvious?" Klaus asked.

"It is" Kol confirmed.

Rebekah sighed, "Don't hurt her, Nik" she warned.

"You really think I would do that?" a slightly hurt Klaus asked,

"I think sometimes you can't help yourself" Rebekah retorted, "Just, treat her well, she deserves only the best".

"And if you don't, I don't mind have myself a werewolf girlfriend" Kol teased.

"You'll find yourself back in the coffin before that happens" Klaus threatened, making Kol roll his eyes in response, Klaus looked at Rebekah, "I promise to treat her well, Rebekah".

Rebekah smiled, "Good, because if you couldn't tell, I'm quiet fond of that girl, if you don't treat her well, we will have problem".

"And believe it or not, that werewolf is slowly making me fond of her as well" Kol said, suddenly serious, "So if you hurt her, Rebekah won't be the only you'll have to deal with".

Klaus shook his head at his siblings, but deep down, it felt nice knowing how much his family cared for Lily, maybe that's why Ayana tied their fates together, because she knew Lily was the only girl in this world who will bring the Mikaelson's together, not tear them apart.

"Sorry about that" Alaric said, sitting at the bar in Mystic Grill with Meredith, just having gotten off the phone with Damon.

"Does he still think I'm a serial killer?" Meredith asked.

"He's a little judgmental" Alaric defended.

Meredith chuckled, "Speaking of--", Meredith pulled out a file from her purse, "Your x-rays were inconclusive, your knife wound was already semi-healed, it's impossible to tell anything about whoever stabbed you, short, tall, left-handed, right-handed, no clue".

"Well, what about my head?" a confused Alaric asked, "Why can't I remember anything about the attack?".

"Your CT scans were clear" Meredith informed, "Maybe you were compelled to forget".

"Wait, you think the killer is a vampire?" a shocked Alaric asked.

"There are no other suspects, it's the obvious conclusion" Meredith pointed out.

"Oh come on, now" Klaus said, announcing his and Kol's presence to the duo as they saw next to them, "Let's not go blaming the new family in town just because you lot have got yourselves a killer at large, don't mind us, my brother and I are just here to let off some steam, right, Kol?".

"Right" Kol said, staring at Meredith.

"Hey guys" Lily greeted, walking over to the group.

"Finally" Kol said, "We've been waiting for ages".

"Hello, little luna" Klaus greeted, "And don't mind him, we just came".

Lily chuckled, "Yeah I figured" she said, she turned to her side where both Alaric and Meredith were giving her a judgmental look for being so comfortable with the two originals, "What's with the judgmental staring?".

"You realise who you're talking to, right?" Meredith asked.

"You realise, I don't care, right?" Lily retorted.

"Come on, let's go sit somewhere else" Alaric told Meredith.

"Please do" Lily said, waving at the duo, she then turned to the two amused brothers, "So, what are we having?".

"Everything" Kol informed.

Lily chuckled, "Sounds fun" she said, making Klaus realise tonight his hands are going to be full with both Kol and Lily.

"Lily!" Klaus called out, as a drunk Lily ran out the Grill.

Lily laughed, she turned around and faced Klaus while walking backwards, "You can't catch me, Mr. Hybrid", as Lily was walking backwards, she nearly came infront of a car, but Klaus quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards his chest.

"Careful" Klaus said, "Are you okay?".

Lily looked up at Klaus, "Oh, this is bad" she whispered.

"What is?" a confused Klaus asked, removing Lily's hair from her face.

"You're effecting my cold dead heart, Mr. Mikaelson" Lily informed.

Klaus smiled at Lily's confession, "First of all, your heart isn't dead, second of all, why is that a bad thing that I'm effecting you?".

Lily lightly pushed Klaus away from her, "Don't you know? I'm the heartless sister, I'm not supposed to have feelings".

Klaus shook his head and brought Lily back towards him, "Stop listening to people who have no idea who you really are".

"Easier said then done" Lily whispered, putting her head on Klaus's chest, "I know I show that people's words don't effect me, that I have a thick skin and no one can ever hurt me, but sometimes words manage to slice through my skin and reach my heart, and those words hurt so much".

Klaus ran his hand through Lily's hands, "I promise you Lily, as long as I'm with you, I'll never let anyone hurt you".

Lily lifted her head up and looked at Klaus, vulnerability shown clearly in her eyes, "Promise?".

With one of his hand going to the back of Lily's neck, Klaus leaned forward and pressed a kiss on her forehead, "I promise".

Lily smiled at Klaus, she opened her mouth to say something, but before she could immense pain shot through her chest, immediately causing her hand to come up to her chest, and for her to look at Klaus in panic, "Klaus" she whispered, before falling unconscious.

Before Lily could fall to the ground, Klaus grabbed the Forbes werewolf into his arms, "Lily" a panicked Klaus called out, patting Lily's cheeks, "Lily, open your eyes, Lily!", as Klaus tried to wake Lily up, he suddenly clutched his chest when he felt like someone just stabbed him with a dagger, Klaus looked at the unconscious werewolf in his arms, then back at the Grill, "Kol" he whispered, finally connecting the dots as to what was happening.

"Here, grab him" Alaric told Stefan and Damon, while dragging the daggered body of Kol through the back exist of the Grill.

"Tell the sexy doctor good work" an impressed Damon said, Meredith having distracted Kol long enough to allow Alaric to dagger him.

Before Alaric could say anything, Klaus speeded over to his brother and took the dagger out of him, a furious Klaus then shoved Alaric to the wall and then Stefan who tired to charge at him, he then turned to the oldest Salvatore.

"I should have killed you months ago" Klaus said, glaring at Damon.

"Do it, it's not gonna stop Esther from killing you" Damon stated.

"What did you say about my mother?" Klaus asked, taking a threatening step towards Damon.

"You didn't know I was friends with your mommy?" Damon asked, "Yeah, we have a lot in common, she hates you as much as I do".

Klaus went to charge at Damon but his older brother's voice stopped him, "Leave him", Klaus turned around and faced Elijah, who was standing on top of the stairs, "We still need him Niklaus".

"What did mother do?" a furious Klaus asked, "What did she do, Elijah?".

Elijah ignored his brother's question, instead walked down the stairs while pulling his phone out of his pocket, "You tell me where the witches are or I'll have my sister kill Elena right now" he told Damon.

Damon looked towards the clock on the clocktower, "You told me we had until after nine".

"I'm sure Rebekah would be more than happy to start her work early" Elijah said.

"Hurry up and tell us" Kol said, slowly standing up with a groan, having heard everything while he was waking up, "We have a mother to kill".

"I want in", Kol, Elijah and Klaus looked on top of the stairs where Lily stood, she stumbled on her feet but before she could fall Klaus speeded over to her and grabbed.

"Careful, little luna" Klaus said, as Kol and Elijah also rushed towards the werewolf.

"What's wrong?" a concerned Elijah asked, wondering why Lily looked so weak.

Lily looked at Elijah, "I don't think you guys are the only ones your mother is trying to kill" she said, making the three brothers exchange furious expressions between themselves.

Outside the old witches house, Finn stood instead a pentagram that Esther made, with Esther, Bonnie and her mother Abby standing on the outside.

A slightly panicked Finn turned to his mother, "They're coming mother" he informed.

"No, it's too soon, the moon is not high enough" Esther said, she then turned to Bonnie and Abby, "Go, quickly".

Bonnie and Abby quickly rushed away, while Elijah, Kol and Klaus walked towards their brother and mother, Lily was also with them but she stayed behind, knowing this was a family matter, but she did want to know why Esther wanted to kill her.

"My sons, come forward" Esther greeted her three furious sons.

"Stay beside me" Finn warned his mother.

"It's okay, they can't enter" Esther informed.

Kol tried to enter the pentagram but as per Esther's words, he couldn't enter as the invisible barrier and the fire surrounding the pentagram stopped him from attacking his brother and mother.

"That's lovely, we're stuck out here while the favorite son plays sacrificial lamb" Kol taunted, "How pathetic you are, Finn".

"Be quiet Kol, your brother knows virtue you cannot even imagine" Esther said.

"Whatever you think of us, killing your own children would be an atrocity" Elijah said.

"My only regret is that I did not let you die a thousand years ago" Esther retorted.

"Enough, all this talk is boring me" Klaus said, "End this now mother, or I'll send you back to hell".

"For a thousand years I've been forced to watch you" Esther said, "I felt the pain of every victim, suffered while you shed blood, even you Elijah, with your claim to nobility, you're no better, all of you, you're a curse on this earth, stretched out over generations, if you've come to plead for your life, I'm sorry you have wasted your time", Esther looked at Lily, who was now leaning against a tree, her breathing heavy, "I'm sorry my child, I have no personal vendetta against you, what's happening to you is because you've accepted the connection between yourself and my son".

Both Klaus and Lily looked at Esther in confusion, "What?" Lily asked.

"A thousand years ago, the spell Ayana did, it was to ensure that Niklaus will one day find his soulmate, the woman who is made especially for him, she was scared that me turning Niklaus into a vampire would have destroyed the soulmate bond, and it did, but Ayana used her magic to repair that bond, to make it so Niklaus doesn't have to spend eternity alone, but despite you two being soulmates, it was up to you to whether you accepted this bond or not, no one could force you, and you did, you started to have feelings for my son all on your own and that completed Ayana's spell and bonded you and Niklaus for life, that is why when I linked Niklaus to his siblings, you got linked to them as well, meaning along with Niklaus and his siblings, you will also die tonight, all because you decided to have feelings for a monster".

Lily looked at Klaus, who was already looking at her, suddenly afraid of her reaction, without saying anything, Lily walked over to Klaus and slipped her hand into his, she then turned to a confused Esther.

"I don't have feelings for a monster, I have feelings for Klaus Mikaelson, the man of my dreams, literally" Lily said, she looked at Klaus, "You're not a monster, I don't see a monster when I look at you Klaus, I just see you".

Klaus smiled at Lily, before he could say anything, his mother's yell caught everyone's attention.

"No sisters, do not abandon me!" Esther yelled, feeling the power of the Bennett's leaving her side.

"Mother!" Finn yelled, pulling his mother away from the high flames that were forming around them

Klaus, Lily, Kol and Elijah quickly hid their faces, with Klaus pulling Lily into his chest, protecting her from the flames, once the flames were gone,  the group of four looked back to where Esther and Finn once were, only to see no one there anymore.

Lily sat infront of the Mikaelson's fireplace, staring at the fire infront of her, she turned to her side when she felt someone sit next to her, "Hey, Kol".

"I'm leaving" Kol informed, getting straight to the point.

"I figured you will" Lily said, "Came to say goodbye?".

"Figured it would be rude not to" Kol said, "Goodbye Lily".

Lily shook her head, "See you later Kol".

Kol smiled at Lily, "I definitely will see you later" he said, he then stood up and proceeded to walk towards the door, before turning to Lily one last time, "Don't leave him" he said, making Lily look at him in confusion, "Nik, don't leave Nik, he needs you a lot more than he shows".

Lily gave Kol a small smile, "So do I" she admitted.

"I know" Kol said, before finally walking out the door.

After saying her goodbye to Kol, Lily entered the dinning room where Elijah was.

"Where the bloody hell is everyone?" a confused Rebekah asked, also entering the room as the same time as Lily.

"It's over, Rebekah" Elijah informed.

"Where's mother?" a worried Rebekah asked.

"We have no mother, only Esther, and Esther was right" Elijah said.

"Elijah, Esther was anything but right" Lily said, not liking where this was going.

"No Lily, all my talk of virtue when it suits my needs, I kill, maim, and torment" Elijah said, "Even today, I terrorized an innocent".

"Elena is hardly innocent" Rebekah stated.

"And I used your hatred of her to get what I wanted" Elijah said, "Wielded you like I would a sword, my sister".

"Elijah, whatever you did, you were pushed to do" Lily said, "Those people teamed up with your mother to kill your family, Elena lied to your face about it".

"We deserve to live, we're better than they are" Rebekah stated.

"Are we?" Elijah asked, "Mother made us vampires, she didn't make us monsters, we did that to ourselves".

"You're leaving as well, aren't you?" Lily realised.

Elijah nodded his head in confirmation, "Goodbye Lily".

"See you soon Elijah" Lily simply said, knowing this wasn't going to be the last time her paths crossed with the noble Mikaelson.

Together, Rebekah and Lily entered Klaus's room, they saw the original hybrid standing by the fireplace, staring into the flames.

"I thought you two would have gone by now" Klaus said, hearing the two footsteps enter his room, "Elijah's leaving, Kol has fled, Esther and Finn are gone too".

Lily walked over to Klaus, "Yeah well, I think I'm going to be staying".

Klaus looked at Lily, "Really?" he asked, a hopeful look in his eyes.

Lily grabbed Klaus's hand and laced their fingers together, "Really" she whispered, making a small smile form on Klaus's face.

"I hated you when I learned you killed our mother" Rebekah said, gaining Klaus's attention, "But I realize now that after a thousand years together as a family you're the only one who never left me".

"Well, aren't we a pair?" Klaus said.

"There's something I think you need to see" Rebekah informed, walking over to Klaus and showing him a video on her phone.

"Come to brag about your skills as a torturer?" Klaus asked, walking forward and grabbing Rebekah's phone from her hand, all while not leaving Lily's hand.

"Look at the images on the wall behind Elena" Rebekah said, "The natives told the story of our family history, look at the images on the far wall".

"What is it?" a confused Klaus asked, as Lily peeked over his shoulder, wondering why Rebekah was so worried about some images.

"The native worshipping at the great white oak tree" Rebekah revealed.

"And we burned that tree to the ground" Klaus reminded, not seeing the problem.

"Look at the markings that precede it, that's the native calendar" Rebekah pointed out.

"This can't be right" a shocked Klaus said as his eyes landed on the markings.

"What?" a confused Lily asked, "What does it mean?".

"A white oak tree three hundred years after we fled back to the old world" Rebekah informed.

"What?" a shocked Lily asked, "How is that even possible?".

"There must have been a sapling, a new tree to replace the old" Rebekah suggested, "That tree could kill us, it's not over Nik".
