18. American Gothic

A shirtless and in extreme pain Klaus, looked at his back in the mirror and tried to remove the piece of white oak stake that Silas had stuck there, but to his frustration no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't reach it, he slammed his shoulder into the wall in order to dislocate it, causing him to yell in pain, once his shoulder was broken, he slowly walked back towards the mirror and once again tried to take the white oak out of his body, but once again failed, he only made the scratches on his back worse, causing him to slam his injured back to the wall and crying out in pain.

"Klaus?!" Klaus suddenly heard Lily called out his name, "Klaus, where the hell are you? We need to talk!", Lily walked into the room Klaus was in and immediately her eyes went wide in worry seeing his state, "What the hell happened to you?".

"Silas" Klaus informed, "He attacked me, he stabbed me with the white oak stake, a piece of it is still inside me".

"Oh my god, that will kill you" a panicked Lily realised.

Klaus let out a sarcastic laugh, "Well, I certainly feel like I'm dying".

Lily walked closer to Klaus, she placed her hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes, "As much as I would love to watch you die, you still haven't found me that cure".

Immediately Klaus shoves Lily off of him causing him to fall to the ground, "Silas!".

"That's right, last night I looked like Shane, today I look like Lily, the woman who is deeply embedded in your heart, and tomorrow, who knows?" Silas taunted.

"Show me your real face" Klaus demanded.

"Now, why would I do that when I can look like whomever I want you to see?" Silas asked, "Resist me all you want Klaus, but until you bring me the cure, I will bring you nothing but misery".

Klaus watched as Silas disappeared right infront of his eyes, the moment Silas disappeared, Klaus let out a sigh of relief, for the first time in a thousand years a threat had actually managed to shaken the big bad hybrid, and Klaus had no idea how to get rid of the threat, not yet at least.

"You know I was planning to spend the day with my mother today" Lily said, entering the Mikaelson mansion and looking around for Klaus, "But you've made that kind of hard with the million messages you sent, you better be dying Klaus or I'm going to be extremely pissed".

"Go away" Lily heard Klaus say.

"Klaus?" Lily called out, walking in the direction she heard the voice coming from, "Where are you? I can't help you with whatever it is you need my help with unless you show me that pretty face of yours", Lily entered the room in which Klaus was on the floor, just looking at him, Lily could tell he was in a lot of pain, "Klaus!" a worried Lily called out, quickly running over to her boyfriend and kneeling by him, "What happened? Who did this to you?".

Instead of replying, Klaus ended up shoving Lily away from him, "I need more time, stop hounding me!".

Lily looked at Klaus in confusion, "I'm hounding you?" she asked, " Me and my mom are supposed to be having a supernatural marathon today but you were the one who couldn't stop messaging me, and now that I'm here, instead of telling me what's wrong, you are seriously going to accuse me of hounding you, really Klaus?!".

"Lily" an extremely vulnerable Klaus whispered, "Is it really you?", Klaus slowly crawled up a chair and looked at Lily, "Prove it to me".

"Klaus, I love you and I would do anything you ask of me but I honestly have no idea how to prove to you that I'm me, so you either tell me what's wrong and let me help you, or you're gonna have to sit there and suffer in pain" Lily warned.

Klaus let out a defeated sigh, "Silas, he stabbed me with the white oak stake, there's a little piece of it stuck inside me".

"Why did Silas attack you?" a confused Lily asked.

"Well, I was in no position to ask questions, suffice it to say, I'm hurt" Klaus pointed out, "So you can understand why I called you".

"For future references, next time you need my help, maybe text me the problem, so I can make it here faster, instead of just messaging me, get here messages" Lily said, shaking her head at Klaus, "If you had told me this before, I would have been here long time ago".

"Noted for the future" Klaus said, as he groaned in pain.

"Okay, so you want me to remove the stake from your back?" Lily asked.

Klaus nodded his head, "I need you to cut the stake out of me, with those" he said, pointing towards the pliers that were thrown on the ground.

Lily followed Klaus's finger and let out a sigh once her eyes landed on the pliers, "This is not going to be pretty" she mumbled.

Klaus stood there, leaning over a table, while Lily used the pliers to look inside Klaus's wound, but to her frustration she couldn't find anything, "Klaus, there's nothing in here".

"You killed twelve witches for a girl you don't even like" Klaus reminded, "You can't even get your hands a little dirty for me, here I thought you loved me".

"Okay first of all, can we please stop mentioning the twelve dead witches" an annoyed Lily said, "And second of all, I do love you, if I didn't love you, I wouldn't be doing this in the first place", while searching for the piece of white oak stake, Lily accidently ends up hurting Klaus causing him to scream in pain and slam his hand rapidly on the desk infront of him, "Sorry, sorry, sorry" a guilty Lily apologised, as she continued trying to search for the piece of white oak stake that was stuck somewhere in Klaus's back.

"I can feel the splinters moving towards my heart, help me!" Klaus yelled.

"What do you think I've been trying to do this whole time, Klaus?!" an annoyed Lily asked, not appreciating Klaus's yells.

 "You're not trying hard enough, Lily!" Klaus snapped.

Lily glared at Klaus before ripping the pliers off his back, causing him to scream in pain, "Apologize" she demanded.

 "Excuse me?" a confused Klaus asked.

"I said, apologize Klaus" Lily demanded, "I've been doing everything I can to help you here and you are not even slightly grateful and instead you're yelling at me, so now I'm not going to help you till you apologize to me and be grateful for my damn help!".

"I will die, Lily!" Klaus argued.

"Just say the magic word Klaus and I'll go back to helping" Lily promised.

A furious Klaus turned around and glared at Lily, "I will not have my hand forced by you or anyone else!".

"Are you okay in the head?!" Lily snapped, "I'm not forcing your hand Klaus, all I'm asking is for a simple apology and you can't even do that?! God, what is wrong with you?!".

Lily turned around to leave the room, when suddenly Klaus speeded infront of her, "Don't turn your back on me!".

"With the way you're currently acting, I should turn my back on you and never look back!" Lily snapped.

Klaus stared at Lily for a moment, when suddenly he realised something, "It's gone" he whispered.

"What's gone?" a confused Lily asked.

"The pain" Klaus informed, "The pain is gone, it was never there, he got in my head, Silas got inside my head, you took my mind off it, you brought me back, Lily".

Lily looked at Klaus, a worried expression on her face, "Klaus, doesn't it scare you that if Silas can me you of all people believe that you're dying, what the hell can he do to the rest of us?".

Lily sat infront of the Mikaelson fireplace, she grabbed her phone from the table infront of her and dialed someone.

"Hey Lils" Rebekah greeted from the other side.

"Me and Klaus had our first couples fight" Lily blurted out.

"What?" a slightly shocked Rebekah asked, "On what?".

"Nothing too serious, we solved it kind of straight away, I just needed to tell someone that me and Klaus have crossed another milestone in our relationship" Lily said, "Anyways, you tell me, how is the search for the cure going?".

"Let's just say that things have gotten complicated" Rebekah informed, "In fact, why don't you speak to one of those complications? Here".

"Complication speaking".

Hearing the familiar voice, immediately caused a massive smile to form on Lily's face, "Elijah" she whispered, "You're finally back".

"Somebody had to take charge" Elijah teased, "And now that I have, I've got the cure and I'm bringing it back to Mystic Falls, let Niklaus know, will you?".

"I will" Lily assured, "Can't wait to see you Elijah".

"Can't wait to see you as well, Lily" Elijah whispered, before hanging up the phone.

"Well well, looks like big brother has finally decided to join the fray" Klaus teased, leaning against the doorway, having listened to the conversation between Elijah and Lily.

"Yes he has" Lily said, as Klaus came and sat next to Lily, "Now maybe you and Rebekah won't kill each other".

Klaus let out an amused chuckle before he glanced at Lily, "Thank you for helping me".

Lily looked at Klaus, "No problem".

"So, our first couples fight, huh?" Klaus teased.

Lily chuckled, "Yeah, on something that we should have never argued about in the first place".

"Something tells me this won't be the last time we argue on something that we shouldn't really argue about" Klaus said.

"Something tells me the exact same thing" Lily laughed, while Klaus looked at her with a smile on his face and look of admiration in his eyes.
