Shura X Reader

((Requested by fandom_brigade !!! I think I might know enough about Shura to write this XD let's just hope. ))

I had been a thief on the streets for quite a while now. It was basically what I lived for. Under king Garon's rule, harsh conditions came. What used to be a nice king turned into the most evil king ever known...and the poor town forced to accommodate these rules.

But not thieves. Take from the rich, give to the poor. The motto that stuck to basically every thief.

My parents raised me in a town known as Mokushu, located south of Izumo. It's known for its highly skilled ninjas!

My dad had taught me all about his high ninja skills, but after a fight between Mokushu and Kohga, he didn't survive...

Though Mokushu did achieve to invade Kohga, it was at the risk of many fighters such as my father. All that he left behind was his ninja stars, and a photo.

Though, the ninja stars were stolen from my mom one mysteriously.

When I was old enough, I moved away from my mother. Originally I was going to settle in Hoshido, but I was denied entry.

So here I am in Nohr, making a living as a thief. Or, as some call it, an outlaw.

I lead my group of thieves through the town, in search for another victim. Suddenly, we spotted it...a rich man who was in a carriage, with lots of bags full of goods of all sorts!

I whistled to my group of thieves and pointed to the target. They all grinned at me and nodded.

"We found one now.." I whispered to myself, chuckling. I snuck behind shops and dashed off towards the carriage. I pulled out my bow, and grabbed an arrow.

Without hesitation, I aimed the arrow right at the wheel. If I remembered correctly, if I shot my arrow just right through the wheel, that wheel would stop working and the carriage would stop.

But before I could fire the arrow...

Whish!

An arrow had shot through the spot I was aiming for. My thieves mistakenly thought that was my arrow, and dashed towards the carriage, now racing to a stop.

"What the...?!" I gasped in utter shock, looking left and right, but it didn't take me long to spot a different group of thieves all racing towards my target.

Of course since my thieves were closer, they got to the carriage first.

Now both groups of thieves were scrambling all over the rich man's goods like a hungry dog. Each one was struggling to take more than the other opposing thieves.

Suddenly, I noticed the leader of the thieves. He was standing outside of the carriage, looking as surprised as I was. His eyes soon met mine, and we stood there, dumbfounded.

I suddenly became full of anger. I had tried so hard to find people to steal from, and now we didn't even get to have the full loot!

"Just what do you think you're doing?! That's my target you're stealing from there!" I barked. He chuckled and rested his arrow against his shoulder.

"I stopped the carriage, didn't I?" He said with a snotty smirk. I scowled at him and looked away. "My thieves got to the carriage first though! First come first served!" I retorted.

After that, both groups of thieves came back to each of their leaders and stared at their leaders with a confused expression.

Then, I noticed something sticking out from a pile of loot the other group of thieves was carrying. I gasped in surprised.

"Are those...no way! My father's ninja stars!" I gasped. I growled at the leader and aimed my bow at him. "Give those to me! Now!"

"No can d- good gods!" The leader shouted and pointed to an antique one of my thieves were holding. "I've been looking all over for that!"

I grinned and laughed a bit. "Well, I'm not giving them up without those ninja stars!" I stated, stomping my foot proudly against the ground.

He snarled at me and turned away to his group of thieves to discuss his action. I turned to my group to see my thieves grinning from ear to ear.

"You sounded pretty cool making that statement!"
"Heh heh! We got them now! Maybe we can even get more stuff from them!"
"You got em' now, leader (Y/N)!"

I smiled and chuckled a bit. "Well I'm glad I have such supporters! I'm even more relaxed knowing that I found my dad's ninja stars." I admitted.

I noticed one of my thieves looking quite nervous. "Hey, is everything okay?" I asked the thief. He flinched and looked down at his feet.

"We haven't found a good target in a while...the stuff we stole..I don't know how long it'll last us for." The thief admitted.

"Shoot...you're right.." I admitted, sighing and looking back towards the other group, who was now ready to speak.

"How about we start over?" The leader said, clearing his throat and holding his hand out towards me. "Nice to meet you, I'm Shura. This here is my gang." Shura nudged his head in the direction of thieves behind him.

"I'm (Y/N). Nice to properly meet you." I said, still keeping my serious attitude while I shook his hand.

"Now, we both got something that each of us wants. It would be easy to trade, but lately my crew hasn't been finding any good targets. And by the looks of it, that stuff your crew stole isn't gonna last very long." Shura pointed out.

I looked back at the pile of stuff we had, and sighed...I knew he was right.

"What're you trying to get at?" I asked, slightly impatient.

"Let's pair up. We'll be twice as powerful, and we'll both be able to share resources. We can also get the items we want from each other." Shura said with a smile.

His group behind him nodded, completely ready to follow his orders. "Sound good?" Shura asked me. I thought about this for a while, and turned to my group.

Their eyes were wide with curiosity, eagerly awaiting to see what I'd do.

Their depending on me...my crew is depending on my decision... Finally, I made up my mind.

"Fine. It's a deal." I said, my group gasping in shock. Shura's group cheered in glee. "Pleasure to be doing business with you." Shura said with a smirk.

What choice did I have? I had to get those ninja stars and we weren't going to survive without sharing our resources. I looked up at the sky and sighed. "It's pretty late now...perhaps we should set up camp..." I suggested.

"Where should we go? Your hideout, or mine?" Shura asked. I laughed and headed towards mine. "I can tell your hideout is probably going to suck, so pack up your stuff and come to mine."

My crew laughed and followed behind me. Shura growled and huffed, turning his back towards me and heading towards his group to go collect his stuff.

Surely enough, they were serious about this whole pairing up thing and they grabbed their stuff and carried it over to my crew's hideout. They carried their bags on their backs as they walked into my base, all of Shura's crew taking a good look around.

Shura nodded in approval. "Gotta hand it to you, this place is pretty nice." He admitted.

I chuckled and led him and his group to a free spot in the camp where they were free to set up their camp.

Everyone headed off to bed, but I couldn't sleep that night. So, I walked a little outside of the camp, and looked up at the stars.

I sighed and let my hair flow with the wind, taking in the scenery and calling aurora swallowing me up. I shifted my gaze to the side to see a flower, peeking up from the field of grass. I looked it for a while, before my ears caught sound of someone walking up behind me.

I turned around to see Shura, standing behind me. "Can't fall asleep?" He asked with a smug smirk.

I nodded and smiled a bit, looking back up at the starry sky as he sat next to me. I heard a small plucking sound, so I looked over to see Shura had plucked the flower from the ground.

"Hey! You just plucked a flower for absolutely no reason!" I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. He laughed and looked at me to see if I was serious.

"Hey, it's just a tiny little flower! What does it matter?" Shura asked with a chuckle. I glared at him before turning my head in the opposite direction.

"Just because it's a little flower doesn't mean it's not important..." I mumbled under my breath. "It was gonna die eventually." Shura pointed out, grinning at me.

"Well, everything dies eventually. Are you implying that since we all die that we should be killed off early?" I asked and turned back to face him again.

"What? Of course not." He shook his head. I looked at the plucked flower and bit my lip.

Suddenly, the archer put an arm over my shoulder and looked me in the eyes. "Are you really that sensitive to a little flower?" He asked, "Well, if so, I hope you'll pardon my actions."

I began to giggle and bit and ruffled that fluffy hair of his that I've always wanted to touch. "I was only using that to make a point!" I said with a laugh.

He chuckled and nodded. "Seems so."

After that, we both went quite.

It wasn't an awkward silence, or anything of the sort.

We just sat there, mesmerized by the moon and tiny shining stars all staring back at us.

Just, taking in the moment for everything it was and everything it had.

It was as if we felt if we said a word, then the beautifulness of this night would disappear.

(TIME SKIP)

The next day, we all went out to catch some rich people. For a couple days, our lives as thieves went surprisingly well. We found perfect prey and got lots of goods to share!

And each day, our groups would get closer and closer in relationship. And each day I enjoyed talking with Shura.

It had been two weeks after we had made our agreement, when we were going out to search for new prey again.

"Okay, everyone gather up! Tomorrow we're gonna take a break from stealing, so today go all out!" I ordered, keeping as strict of a tone as I could manage. "Don't lose focus! Today, we're going to be stealing from one of the hardest places to steal from..."

Everyone in the group gasped.

"You don't mean..?!"
"Hell yeah I do!"

I pointed towards the castle of Nohr, which held the king and other royals including Leo, Camilla, Elise, and Xander. It even held the royal servants.

"Are you serious?!" They all asked in unison. I nodded with a big grin on my face. "C'mon! We're the biggest group of thieves in Nohr! We can pull it off!" I encouraged. "Now let's get out there and work our butts off!" I shouted, the rest of the group shouting along with me. "Yeah!"

So we headed off, running off towards the castle. Through empty halls and past the busy shops, dead straight towards the castle. It was farther than we expected, however.

While running, Shura caught up to me to start up conversation. "Very convincing speech you made just a while ago." He complimented with a smirk on his face.

I chuckled. "Well, when your a leader, you gotta know how to get your team going." I pointed out, beaming with pride at my own work. He rolled his eyes. "Don't get too cocky. We've got a long run ahead of us."

It was silent for a moment, before he spoke up. "Hey, what city were you born in? Did your dad fight to protect that city? I'm assuming he did since it sounds like he died, and that's the most common way for relatives to die.."

I nodded and smiled. "Glad you caught on. I'm assuming you found out he was dead since I want his ninja stars so badly." He nodded in response to my statement.

"I grew up in Mokushu, south of Izumo." I stated proudly. "It's known for its highly skilled ninjas! You can probably guess that's a place where my dad would be, since he is a ninja. He died in a fight between Mokushu and Kohga. He killed a whole bunch of them! The war was won, but he didn't survive."

I had gotten wrapped up in my talking, since the subject was about something I knew a lot about and enjoyed talking about. I waited for a response from him, but instead got an unsettling silence from him.

"Eh? Shura, are you okay..?" I asked worriedly. He stopped right by the castle, not moving to the position he was supposed to. "Hey, what're you doing? We're supposed to get in position! Some of our thieves are already-!"

"Mokushu...." Shura scowled behind gritted teeth. I looked at him in surprise. He turned to me with a deadly serious look.

"My town was in ruins...I was forced to live on the streets, all because of that damn war...!" Shura barked at me. I took a step back in surprise.

"Kohga...was my town!" He screamed out in anger and quickly took out his bow and arrow, aiming for me.

I gasped and quickly dodge it by jumping to the left. "(Y/N)!" One of my thieves yelled out.

"Shura, what're you doing?!" I asked quickly. "In return for your father destroying my city, I'll kill his daughter so he'll know the pain I suffered!"

He quickly aimed another arrow, this time it strikes my left leg. I winced in pain as it tore through my flesh.

"Hey!" One of Nohr's guards barked at us in anger. "Retreat!" One of Shura's thieves yelled, and all of the thieves came running back to us and away.

Shura aimed another arrow, but one of his thieves slapped the bow away and pulled him away in order to save his life. One of my thieves picked me up and ran with me since I was unable to move.

My head was racing and my heart was pounding so fast, I thought it would burst from my chest. I gritted my teeth together as pain overwhelmed my body, and the shock of what had just happened swallowed up my brain.

As if on cue, rain began to pour down on all of us.

What a coincidence.

When we finally made it back, my leg was gotten fixed right away as we took shelter from the thunder and rain.

"How could you have not told me you were from Mokushu?! All this time I spent...talking to my enemy!" Shura exploded his anger out on me.

"Shura, please stop this! Do you really hold me responsible for the things done to you and your people?!" I asked, trying to reason with him.

"I trusted you! Your father was the reason I became a thief in the first place! I even...for a moment, I...I fell in love with you! I should've known..." Shura turned away from me and began walking away.

"W-wait!" I shouted, but to no avail.

"The deal is over! Just....just leave me alone..."

I wanted to stop him, but how? All this time we spent....

So, Shura and his group parted ways with us. Our groups weren't so happy about this either since they had only just warmed up to each other.

It was tough on both of our groups. My group was reluctant to go back to Nohr's castle, not feeling as comfortable without the other team.

Now I couldn't even take comfort in looking at the stars without missing Shura.

I tossed and turned in my sleep, having a bad dream that night about Shura dying before we ever made up...

Three weeks later, my team started working again, though very slowly and unhappily. It was a rainy day again, so we couldn't do much. But my group would starve if I didn't fetch anything.

As I walked down the empty halls of Nohr, I noticed a shadowy figure in the distance. I slowly approached it, hoping it might be someone I could rob.

I looked over to see Shura, who seemed to be looking for the same thing I was. A target.

"Shura?"
"(Y/N)?"

We were both stunned silent, when suddenly he spoke up. He began to laugh, then turned to me. "Now I can kill you without anything holding me back!" Shura announced, reaching back for his bow, but not before I spoke.

"What happened to all that time we spent?"

Shura froze in his tracks. I looked at him, dead serious. "Did all that time mean nothing to you?" I asked.

"Of course not...every moment I spent with you was great, but now it's nothing but a bitter memory." Shura said to me coldly.

I felt tears burning at the edge of my eyes as I closed them and turned my head to the floor. "Why are we letting the war between our cities hold us back from being friends?" I asked.

He looked at me, and didn't respond. "So what? So what our cities fought? All in all, it was a losing process. I mean, look at me..." I chuckled and looked up at him, beginning to cry slightly.

"Mokushu won, didn't they? So...why am I a thief? I didn't chose this path you know. I was forced to take this position. Is being an outlaw so bad? If you hadn't become an outlaw...wouldn't we have never met? Or...perhaps that would've been a good thing to you."

Shura looked at me with sad eyes. "(Y/N)..."

"It's not my fault that my father fought against your city! None of this is your fault either! Fate didn't bring us together to fight! When we talked, I felt drawn to you! I fell in love with you!" I shouted, crying uncontrollably now.

Shura dropped his bow and rushed over to me, wrapping me up in a hug. "I'm sorry....I'm such an idiot...I didn't mean to make you cry like this." He apologized, holding me close.

"I understand if you hate me now..." Shura mumbled and looked down at the floor. That comment pissed me off, so I pulled away and gave him a big kiss. We both like each other, don't we?

But kisses are still so embarrassing...

Long story short, we both work as one team now. Two outlaw lovers on the run...

I wonder how the future will turn out for us?

((FINALLY FINISHED!!! This took literally forever to make. Thank you all for reading! I'm still alive, don't worry!))
