Chapter 8 The Kingdom of Might
A few hours passed since the group has left the Grand Crossing. The sun was already setting, it made Brodia look beautiful in its own way. If it wasn't for what's at stake, Veyle would have probably admired the view.
The group had arrive at Brodia castle, the sunlight highlighting the castle.
"We're here. Brodia Castle" Alcryst said as everyone stopped to far from the gates. His eyes glancing around, "I don't see any Elusian soldiers. Thank goodness...The attack hasn't begun"
Veyle narrowed her eyes at the gate, leaning a bit forward, she saw a man dressed in reds and silvers, his red hair was messy yet also cleaned, "Wait. I see someone at the front gate. He doesn't look like a guard."
"Is it an enemy solider?" Alycrst tensed up a bit as she looked to where Veyle was looking at before shaking his head, "No, that's..." he had a smile on his face, "That's Diamant! He must have come out to greet us!"
The two hurried over closer to the gate. When Diamant heard their footsteps, he turned around to face them, mainly Veyle, with a smile on his face, "hm? I've been waiting for you, Divine One. I greet you as the crown prince of Brodia" he raised his hand towards Veyle, "I'm Diamant. I've heard so much about you. I'm honored to finally meet the legend in person"
Veyle blushed a bit before shaking Diamant's hand, "it's a pleasure, Prince Diamant"
His grip was firm, warm even. It isn't aggressive when he shook Veyle's hand. Even though he looked strong enough to break Veyle's hand into tiny pieces.
Diamant let go of Veyle's hand, reaching his hand towards Alfred, "And Prince Alfred, welcome, Queen Ève's letter explained your situation. Thanks for coming all this way. It's good to see you"
Alfred shock Diamant's hand, a soft smile on his face, "likewise, I'm sorry it took a war for us to meet again after all this time"
Diamant broke the handshake as he looked at his younger brother. Slapping a hand onto his shoulder, "oh, and Alycrst, thanks for escorting our guests from the border. I know that's a rugged road"
Alcryst shock a bit from the force but shock his head at Diamant, "it's was nothing, really" before frowning some, "I beat ill news, however. Elusian forces attacked us at the Grand Crossing"
Diamant's face turned serious, if not a bit surprised, "is that right?"
"A battalion led by Princess Hortensia" Alycrst explained, "We fought her off, but she said something troubling. The crown princess intends to assault Brodia Castle. If they're after our Emblem Ring, we may be on course for a dangerous confrontation"
Diamant had a hand on his chin as he proceeded this information. His face heavy before crossing his arms, "We'll have to prepare our defenses. Thanks for the warning, Alcryst. Come. Father will want to hear about this"
Before anyone could act, a man who looked a lot like Diamant, but was older, hair more cleaned and a beard appeared. Two guards with him.
"Why do you all look so tense?" The man asked, raising an eyebrow at everyone.
"Father? You were supposed to be waiting inside" Diamant narrowed his eyes at the man, who is assumingely his father.
The man waved his hand dismissively, "Yea, I know. And I was. But then I had this feeling my boy Alycrst might be home. It seems my fatherly intention was right as usual, heh!" He went over to Alycrst and picked him up into a bone crushing hug before placing him down, "welcome back, son"
Alycrst had breathed for air. Feeling his back and bones pop, "Thank you, father"
"I wish you'd stop finding excuses to leave the castle" Diamant shock his head, "it's not safe out here"
The man groaned as he ran a hand down his face, "please, Diamant, not another lecture. Where's the harm in welcoming my dear boy back from his journey?" He fixed his posture as he eyes Veyle and Alfred, "Anyways. We'd best not argue in front of our guests"
"Oh! It's all right...." Veyle gave a wary smile, waving her hand.
"Please pardon my rudeness, Divine One, Prince Alfred, welcome" The man bowed his head at the duo, "I am Morion, kind of Brodia!"
"Good to meet you" Veyle bowed her head back at the man, now known as Morion. Alfred did the same.
"Likewise! I never imagined I'd meet the Divine Dragon Veyle" Morion had a grin on his face, "indeed, such a special occasion calls for a welcoming duel!"
Veyle sweatdropped at that. She should be surprised but she doesn't think she can box with the king of Brodia himself.
Diamant shot the idea down, much to Veyle's relief, "There's no time for that. We have an important matter to discuss. As Alcryst was escorting our guests from the border, Elusian soldiers attacked them."
Morion crossed his arms with a scoff, rolling his eyes, "Ugh...Elusians"
"It appears that the crown princess is planning an assist on Brodia Castle" Diamant explained further.
Morion narrows his eyes, "already making their move, huh?" He looked at the soldiers standing behind him, "Soldiers! Go, now! Shore up our defenses!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Said one of the Brodian soldiers as they hurried and left.
Morion turned back to the group. A pride look on his face when he looked at Alcryst, "Well done getting that information, Alcryst"
Alycrst blushed in embarrassment, rubbing his cheek softly, "Please...I don't deserve such kind words"
"Humble as ever, son. Haha..." Morion gave an awkward laugh. Unsure how to really deal with his youngest's self doubt.
Veyle stepped forward, "um, King Morion? Excuse me, but is it okay if I ask for your kingdom's aid?"
Morion turned his gaze to the young dragon, "you want our Emblem Ring, right?"
Veyle was taken aback from how he guessed correctly and seeming very chill about the question. She slowly nodded, "yes, sir..."
Morion chuckled as he pulled out a golden ring with a beautiful ruby stone in the center of it, "I know you'd ask! That's why I brought it. Here—the Ring of the Young Lion!" He turned to his son and throw the ring at him, "hey, Diamant—think fast!"
Diamant caught it quickly, not missing a beat, like this happened more often than he can count, "Father. We're supposed to take care of the ring, not throw it around"
"Ah, you're no fun" Morion shock his head at his eldest son.
Veyle leaned closer to Alfred, whispering softly, "um...Alfred? King Morion seems so...nice. This is the man who's always invading Elusia? I thought he'd be more intimidating"
A part of her envied how good of a dad Morion seeming was to his kids. She wished she had a dad like that. Though, she has no memory of her biological father. Which made her somewhat more envious. Craving that fatherly love.
Alfred chuckled softly, "you're seeing Morion—friend and family man. He's known to be a bighearted guy. But in battle, the demon comes out. He's not someone you want as your enemy."
Veyle was glad they are allies then. She watched in slight amusement as Diamant and Morion had their conversation, more lien Diamant scolding his father and Morion just pouting softly or rolling his eyes. It is almost like Diamant was the parent and Morion was the child.
Diamant groaned, "Ugh...Father can be such a handful sometimes" he shock his head before turning to Veyle, "Divine One, I've got the ring for you"
"Thank you" Veyle smiled as Diamant pass the ring to her gently. The ring glowing under the sunlight.
"What will you do with it?" Asked Morion, his eyes held some curiosity.
"I'm going to summon an Emblem" Veyle explained to him before holding the ring close. Pouring Divine energy into the ring as the words flow into her mind, "Rise up,Emblem of Binding!"
A bright orange light appears. When cleared, a young teen, likely around the age of 15, appeared. He had bright orange hair, he dressed in blue and gold armor. A blue bandanna around his forehead.
"I'm Roy. If you're summoning me....that can only mean war has begun" The Emblem, Roy, spoke up.
Diamant and Morion looked surprised to see Roy standing, or more so floating, in front of them. "There was a person in there?" Diamant asked, dumbfounded.
"How about that! All along, this Emblem dwelt in our family's ring" Morion gave a small chuckle as he looked at Veyle, "and now you have released him. It seems 'Divine' is no exaggeration, huh?"
Veyle gave a small smile and nodded, "maybe a little bit. I am still just a person at the end of the day"
Before any more words were shared, a Brodian solider came running towards Morion, "Urgent news, your Majesty! An Elusian Wyvren rider is approaching! It's dodging all our archers' attacks"
"What?!" Veyle gasped. She realized the crown princess must have arrived.
Diamant seems to have the same thoughts as Veyle, "She's here" he looked at Veyle, a look of determination in his eyes, "Divine One. May I call upon Roy's help to defend the castle?"
Veyle nodded, no hesitation in her body language, "of course" she handed him Roy's ring. Which he gladly took and placed it on his finger. The power flowing through his veins.
~
The group ran over to the side of the castle. Wyvren's wings flapped heavily in the air and arrows missed the giant lizard.
When landed, a woman that looked around Diamant's age jumped of the Wyvren. She had purple hair that goes a little past her shoulders, she also wore a black fascinator that covered her upper half of her face. She also wore a dress that is mostly fluffy in the back, a purple cape, white gloves that have pink thorns on the hands, and rose themes leggings.
She slowly walked over, a tome in hand, "I, Princess Ivy, speak for the Elusian throne. I will now take your lives, your souls.... And the rings" she gave a smile bowed at us.
Diamant narrowed his eyes at the crown princess, "I underestimated how far you could get into Brodian territory, Princess Ivy"
"My soldiers are on the way. Now, I will give you a chance to surrender before they arrive" Ivy said.
Morion smiled, his voice ticked with excitement, "oh, I'm itching for that fight"
Diamant lowered his voice as she spoke to his father, "Father, go back to the castle"
Morion looked offended, even taken aback slightly, "what? Why?"
"If something happened to you, our country would be devastated" Diamant said to Morion, "Please, leave this to us"
"Right, why should the king get a say in the matter?" Morion shook his head slightly at Diamant before sighing, "I'll do as you ask. But, Diamant, Alycrst....dont you dare get killed."
"We won't" Diamant gave a stern nod.
Alycrst looked away for a second, "well, we'll try not to"
Morion gave a nod as he began heading back into the castle, wishing the group good luck.
Ivy turned her gaze over to Veyle. Her eyes slightly soften, almost in awe, "You must be the Divine Dragon Veyle"
"That's right" Veyle nodded. Tensing up as she held her light tome in case of an attack.
"You really are as stunning and adorable as my sister said. I'm pleased to meet you" Ivy said. For a moment, it seemed like her guard dropped before focusing at the mission at hand. She showed her right hand to reveal a golden ring with a yellow gem in the middle. An Emblem Ring, "As is my ring"
"But that's—" Veyle gasped as she realized it is one of the stolen rings.
"The Ring of the Sage Lord. A gift from my father" Ivy said with a nod, lowing her hand, her face falling into a sad one, "with its power, I am sorry to say, I must kill you"
Diamant immediately stepped forward next to Veyle, "I won't let that happen. It's you who will fall, Princess Ivy."
Ivy frowned slightly, "you won't surrender, then? In that case, my forces will prepare for battle"
"As will ours" Diamant said as both Brodian and Elusian soldiers began to fill the area.
Veyle looked at the Ring of the Sage Lord, "don't worry...I will get you back soon. I promise"
As the group got ready for battle. Suddenly, a horse came out of no where and ran over, stopping in front of the group.
The man on top was breathing heavily. He had blonde messy hair that seemed to be a mullet. His eyes were a yellow color as he worse a rider's uniform. He seemed to have struggled controlling his horse the whole way here.
"Finally, horsey, you stopped! Where were you taking me?" The man asked his horse before looking around, confused, "huh. Wait, uh...is this the castle?" He then spotted Diamant, who was staring at him in just as much confusion, even slightly amusement, "is that...Prince Diamant?!"
"Amber?" Diamant spoke to the man, raising an eyebrow.
"What are Elusian soldiers doing here?" The man, Amber, asked Diamant. Blinking.
"They've attacked us" Diamant kept it short and simple, shaking his head, "Say, Amber....weren't you our fighting beasts?"
"I was, but then horsey hit spooked and wouldn't listen to me" Amber pointed at his horse, almost accusingly, "I kept getting tossed around in its back, and next thing I know...here I am!"
Diamant gave a chuckle, "haha, I'll never understand how you end up in these strange situations. But this time, it works in our favor. I was just wishing you were here"
"Maybe horse sensed this danger...." Amber gave a silly smile as he hugged his horse's neck, "that's so cleaver of you!"
"Ready to defend the castle together?" Diamant asked Amber with a nod.
Amber nodded as he stood straight and raised his lance, "I was born ready!"
The knight rushed over to their side. Ready to join in at any time.
Diamant eyed the back of the castle, which they stand in front of, "if our enemies reach the gate, the castle will be theirs. We can't allow that to happen"
"We won't" Veyle reassured Diamant with a nod, "we will defeat this castle with everything we've got!"
Diamant gave a small smile, "Thank you, Divine One" he pulled at his sword, the battle has officially begun.
Roy appears by Diamant's side, his own sword in hand, "Together, we will defend the castle"
Diamant nodded at Roy's words. He ran toward and slashed throw two Elusians like they were just paper. Thanks to Roy's strength increase, he is more powerful than before.
Veyle and Lucina fought together in the front. Lucina protecting Veyle from any heavy hitters as Veyle used her magic to take out any armored units. Both fighting together beautifully as normal.
Amber saw Elusians tried to sneak attack Diamant. His horse ran towards them before Amber could even say go. Trampling over the Elusians like they were dirt.
"Horsy, you really need to stop acting on your own" Amber softly hissed but patted his horse's head, "but good job"
His horse just huffed and rolled his eyes. Accepting the praise anyway.
Ivy watched from a distance, her eyes narrowing slightly, "we will not relent until the castle is ours" as she said that, more Elusian soldiers came through the gates.
"If these enemies all come at once, our defenses won't hold much longer" Veyle stated in worry as Lucina took out another solider.
Diamant slicked through another Elusian with ease and dodged an attack from an archer, he turned his attention to Veyle before seeing a ballista, "our castle has a ballista. We can use that to pick them off"
Veyle turned her gaze towards the ballista. A small smile appeared on her face, "perfect. We can use it for the flying soldiers"
Diamant turned to Alycrst, "Alycrst, can you use the ballista? Aim for their flyers"
Alycrst's eyes widen a bit, "M-Me? Um..sure, I can try my best" he went over to the ballista. Getting ready the arrows and ready to fire at any flyers. When in range, he began to take them down one by one. Either taking them down fully or weakening them enough for the group to take them down.
"Good job, Alcryst" Veyle praised the prince, who blushed a bit in embarrassment, "keep up the good work! We got this!"
Everyone continues to fight the Elusians. Yunaka and Anna teaming up. Anna was a little careless with her fighting style, almost getting hit a few times or has been hit. Luckily, Yunaka took down the soldiers and healed Anna when needed.
"Be more careful, Tiny" Yunaka bonked Anna on the head, "your not invincible"
"Sorry" Anna hissed as she held her head, "and it's Lady Anna to you"
"Yeah, yeah" Yunaka almost rolled her eyes as she focused back into the rigging. Micaiah stood by her side, acting as support. Even though she can only do little damage.
Chloé was eventually challenge by one of Ivy's retainers. He was a tall male with slightly messy black hair, he had dark skin and dressed in long black robes, "Leave now or my duty demands you be *destroyed.* Nothing personal..."
"I would believe that if you didn't aimed a dagger at me" Chloé stated, "this is almost like those romance stories you see in books"
The male deadpan slightly at the blue haired pegasus knight before attacking her with his steel dagger.
Chloé easily flew out of rage and attack with her lance, managing to hit his shoulder. Making the male hiss a bit in pain.
The male jumped back and throw his dagger, hitting Chloé's pegasus in the wing. Making the flying horse cried out in pain as it fell to the ground. Leaving Chloé mostly vulnerable for an attack on the ground.
The male was about to attack Chloé herself until Céline showed up, blocking the male's way with her magic, "leave her alone"
"Princess Céline?!" Chloé was surprised to see Céline come to her rescue as she began to help her Pegasus up.
"Leave him to me, Chloé" Céline said as she began to call upon Celica's power, "Emblem Engage!" She fused with the pink haired emblem as her appeared changed: her hair became a light pink color that faded into red, her dresses changed into white and gold armor.
Chloé nodded and went to go find Jean or Yunaka to heal up her precious Pegasus.
Céline and the male began to lock into a battle. The male trying to get the Emblem ring and Céline dodging with power magic, but taking some damage from the might of using Celica's power.
"My apologies!" Céline said as she then teleported behind the male and used fire and ice magic and hit the male with full force.
The male hissed as he held his side in pain, "how *untortunate*. I must return to Princess Ivy...."
Before the male can retreat, his fellow retainer said not to far away as he took down a Brodia solider, "Zelkov! Go find a healer! Leave the rest to me!"
The male, Zelkov, nodded and began to leave. The others didn't have much time to stop him as Elusian soldiers blocked the way.
Ivy looked at the Ring of the Sage Lord before saying, "with this Emblem's strength and my own, there will be no defeating me!" She looked at her opponent, who was Amber, the Elusian crown princess aimed her magic at him. Who the male dodged easily.
"Wow, she doesn't mess around" Amber said as his horse scoffed a bit in frustration as they continued to dodge and return the attacks.
The second retainer was in combat with Lapis, a small smile on his face, "my name is Kagetsu. Pleased to meet you. If it were under friendlier circumstances"
Lapis blocked his sword attack with her own blade, "could say likewise but that might be a lie" she used her leg to kick Kagetsu away from her and jumped into the air to aim her sword down at him, which he dodge just in time by moving to the side.
Kagetsu moved to Lapis's side and slashed at him, cutting her as she flew back and groaned slightly in pain.
"Lapis!" Alcryst saw what happened and began using the ballista and aimed at Kagetsu. Firing a few arrows at the swordsman. He manage to get a few good hits in.
Lapis took this opportunity and went foward, slashing at Kagetsu and making him fly back into a wall, he bounced off it and kneeled on the ground, "I am defeated...I must retreat" he stood up and left the field.
Lapis looked over at Alcryst and smiled softly, "thank you, Prince Alycrst"
Alcryst blushed softly and nodded, "n-no need for praise. I was doing what anyone would have done..."
Back with Amber and Ivy, both were worn each other out. Looks like one more good hit would finish off either.
Diamant came forward and stood next to Amber, "go find Jean. Leave this to me" he commanded as he raised his sword towards Ivy, Roy by his side.
Amber gave a weak nod as he made his horse run towards the young healer. Wishing Diamant luck.
Diamant charged forward, dodging a fire attack from Ivy as he jumped up and slashed at her Wyvren's wing. Making it fall towards the ground.
Ivy cursed slightly, "no, no.." she was about to charge another attack from her tome and aimed it at Diamant, but suddenly, Yunaka came from behind and knocked the tome out from her hands and stolen the ring.
"No, the ring..." Ivy gasped softly
"Sucks to suck" Yunaka smirked slightly as she saw Veyle come forward, "hey, Divine One. Here!" She passed the ring towards Veyle.
"Thank you, Yunaka" Veyle smiled as the battle came to a close as the Elusian soldiers were in a corner. Veyle looked at the ring, "I can feel it tainted with Fell Dragon energy...I'll have to summon him again myself"
"Go ahead, Divine One" Yunaka cheered for Veyle, who nodded.
Veyle felt the words come into her mind. She placed the ring close to her chest as she said the words, "Free us, Emblem of Genealogy!"
A golden light appeared. When cleared, a male with brown hair and white, gold and purple armor with a white cape appeared.
"I am Leif. Thank you for letting me swing a sword with these arms again" the Emblem known as Leif thanked Veyle, "I will do what I can to retrieve that which has been stolen."
"Thank you, Leif" Veyle smiled up at the male Emblem.
The allies cheered in victory as the battle was as clearly theirs as Ivy and her retainers were the last few to remain. Ivy looked sadden, speaking to herself, "how could I have failed?"
Diamant and Alcryst walked over to the crown princess. The eldest prince spoke up, "it's over, Princess Ivy. Surrender."
Icy shock her head, "I will not. There is more for me to do" before anyone could stop her, she jumped onto her Wyvren who is now recovered with her retainers. The three of them flew away.
"No!" Diamant tried running after them but failed, "agh..."
"She's gone..." Veyle frowned. She had noticed Ivy looked almost sad. Not from losing but from something else. In her eyes she sense loneliness but she can't place her finger on it.
Just then, a Brodian Solider rushed over to the group as he spoke to Diamant, sounding panicked, "your Highness! Urgent news from the border!"
The group turned as Diamant spoke up, his eyes narrowing slightly, "what is it?"
"An Elusian Battalion stands at the ready!" The Brodian Solider informed, shocking the group, "King Hyacinth is acting as general—he's leading their army himself!"
"What?" Diamant's eyes widen in confusion.
"Yes...and he is demanding to see King Morion" The Brodian solider explained, which made Diamant bawled his fists and Alcryst looked nervous.
Morion came walking towards the group, clearly heard everything, "I must face him. Anything less would bring dishonor to Brodia"
"Father, he's baiting you" Diamant said, looking at Morion, "and his may be a trap of some kind/ go back inside"
"Ha! I can fight my way out or whatever trap he springs" Morion chuckled softly.
"I urge you to reconsider" Diamant shakes his head as he frowned more.
"Listen, who's the father and who's the son? Stop trying to protect me" Morion narrows his eyes at Diamant, making Diamant be taken by surprise, "Son, this has been happening a lot lately. What's it all about? Are you worried Brodia might lose this war? Or lose...it's king?"
Diamant didn't reply right away as he thought of his words. After a moment of silence, he spoke up, "we're not ready for this. Brodia, to lose its king. Or me, my father"
"Diamant?" Alcryst looked up at his older brother, his gaze soften.
"From a young age. I was told I would lead Brodia after you died. Imagine...q boy forced to anticipate his father's death. To think of that empty throne" Diamant frowned, "the Fell Dragon has returned. War is here. The future is uncertain. And I'm not ready"
Morion placed a hand on his eldest son's shoulder, "it's all right, Diamant. If I die, I die. Brodia will live on"
"But, father!" Diamant hissed at the older male.
Morion then crossed his arms with an amused look on his face, "what, you don't believe me? After I'm done. I know you will lead with a steady hand. Though I'm offended you expect that day to come so soon. You think I'm going to lose? You think I'm weak? That I need your protection? Oh, the hubris of youth"
"That's not what I meant" Diamant shock his head.
"King Hyacinth awaits me on the battle field of war, his army at the ready. If Brodia hides, then what?" Morion asked his son, "after heats locked into battle with Elusia, will we reveal ourselves as cowards? Listen to me Diamant. I will fight bravely for Brodia. I do not fear death. Being known as king who runs from battle....that scares me far more."
Diamant let out a sigh as he knew he isn't getting through to his father. His heart still filled with worry.
"What do you think about all this, Alycrst?" Morion turned to his youngest.
Alycrst was taken back. Almost chocking on his breath, "me?!"
"If I die, and Diamant alongside me, you will have to take the throne" Morion explained. This makes Alycrst whimper softly and cower in his boots. Wanting to not think of that reality.
"Father, don't say that" Diamant sensed his brother's worry. Placing a hand of Alycrst's shoulder.
"I..." Alycrst suddenly have a look of determination, "I will not let that pass. I will protect Diamant to the bitter end"
"Alcryst..." Diamant was shocked in the sudden switch in his younger brother's attitude.
Veyle clapped a bit for Alycrstc "go Alcryst!"
Motion laughed, "haha! That's my boy!" He then turned to Diamant, "Diamant, you could learn a thing or two from your brother. Fear has no place in my kingdom. If we step into fear, then we step out of Brodia" Diamant sighed as Morion continued, "now then, to the border!"
"It seems I can't dissuade you from this path. All I can do is walk with you" Diamant nodded as he turned to the soliders, "come on, everyone. Let's show Elusia why we're called the kingdom of might"
Morion chuckled, "haha! That's it! The his won't be the last time I see the castle. And when I'm back, a tournament with our strongest warriors!" He turned to Veyle, "that means you, Divine One!"
"Me..?" Veyle was taken aback as she pointed at herself.
"Yes! I want to see you transform into a mighty dragon. Whoosh! Roar!" Morion shouted with joy.
Veyle awkwardly chuckled softly, "ok..." she was a little unsure. She knew she has a dragon stone but she felt none of her magic energy in it. It feels more like fell than divine but she does know it's hers. Vander said Lumera had saved it for her.
"What's the matter?" Morion sensed Veyle's uneasiness as he raised an eyebrow.
"Ah. Nothing. I'm sorry" Veyle felt guilty for making Morion slightly worry, "you're right. I could turn into a dragon. I have a dragon stone after all."
"Haha! Umm looking forward to that!" Morion smiled brightly.
Diamant turned over to Veyle, "I'd like to spat with you too, Divine One. After Father gets his chance."
Veyle nodded, "I am also looking forward to it"
"But that's for later. Now we should prepare for our journey to the border" Diamant said as his gaze focused on everyone else.
"Indeed" Morion said as he and his sons began to head toward. Leaving Veyle behind in her thoughts.
Veyle sighed to herself, "this talk of turning into a dragon...Mother could. Can I?" She placed a hand on her chin, "I have no idea if I can. Or how..."
Her gaze fallen to her dragon stone. As much as she felt a strong bond with it. She also felt magically disconnected from it. It makes her extra uneasy if she could transform. Lumera didn't need a dragon stone. Why does she?
"Divine One! Hurry up!" Yunaka shouted from ahead. Veyle didn't even realize she stood on the same place for a while. She saw Alfred and Yunala waiting for her/
"Coming" Veyle walked forwarded, catching up to the group.
~
Morion, Diamant and Alycrst were with some Brodian knights. One of them was an older looking woman. She had dark skin and silver hair. Her armor was different form the others, which made Veyle guess she is a general or of special status in the army.
"We'll return soon. I have Brodia Castle in the Royal guard's capable hands" Morion nodded as the two soldiers.
"Yes, your majesty!" The male solider nodded.
"You can count on us. Done a fine job protecting it all these years, haven't we?" the older female solider chuckles, "we won't start slacking off just 'cause you're not around."
"Excellent. And when we return, you'll be treated to a victory feast!" Morion smilers
The female solider chuckled, "looking forward to it. See you soon, your majesty"
"Strong of body!" The male solider said, a hand on his chest.
"Strong of heart!" Morion said as he mimicked the solider's actions.
"All right; time to head out" Diamant said as he waved his hand at everyone.
"Here we go..." Alcryst said with some worry as he and his family walked ahead.
"They're wrapping up their goodbyes" Alfred said as he and Veyle stood next to each other.
"Yes. On to the border" Veyle stated. For some reason, she has a gut feeling something will go horribly wrong very fast.
