Sea of Rushing Flames with a side of Lightning Skies
"So, what does your friend look like?" Tiffany asked, walking to her truck.
"I don't know, I've never seen him in colour." Sophia followed the blonde's lead.
The blonde stopped.
"We are traveling halfway across the country for someone you have never seen?!"
"I've met them," Sophia rolled her eyes. "I just don't know what they look like."
"Are you blind?" Tiffany asked, starting the truck.
"By you humans definition, yes." Sophia looked out the windshield.
"Then how have you been able to see this entire time?"
"Your life energy, it's extremely powerful to someone with my eyes." Tiffany's soft green eyes stared at Sophia's amber ones.
"So you've been just following me?" Tiffany stared at the strange creature beside her.
"I guess you can put it that way." Sophia paused, she was wording each sentence carefully.
Tiffany remained silent and started driving, for how long, was unknown.
YOU ARE NOW LEAVING MAINE
"That's an interesting sign." Sophia kept staring at the sign, even after the truck passed it.
"Yeah, it lets you know when we've left where. It's for people driving out of state." Tiffany explained, her eyes keen on the road.
"Your travel vehicle is weird."
"I work as a mechanic, I need all the space in the back of the truck for my tools and such." Tiffany shifted around in her seat, this had to be her longest drive in a long while.
Sophia said nothing more, just looked out the windshield like the blonde next to her.
Tiffany was surprised, they both seemed to always have questions for the other.
But their silence was unsettling for Tiffany, while the opposite for Sophia.
Tiffany looked over at Sophia, she was sleeping.
Confused, the blonde shook her head before looking back on the road.
What was truely strange, was the absence of traffic and other vehicles. Sure, a car or truck would pass by but not as often as it should. Tiffany had yet to see a cop car or motorcycle.
Even further unsettled, she turned on the radio.
"The weather in Maine has surely picked up since yesterday, hasn't it Jason?"
"Sure has Jaiden, in this winter, there has barely been anything else other than those black clouds and rain."
Tiffany shifted, it was too cold for rain this time of year.
"Other than this crazy weather, the police are also on the hunt for a serial killer tonight." "A couple was found mutilated in their home by their fifteen year old son."
"Details include only the outer skin being left behind, organs were found broken or half eaten with the bones also being half broken."
Tiffany turned the radio off, scared out of her mind.
"That's only the beginning." Tiffany looked over at Sophia to see her awake, as if she had never fallen asleep.
"The beginning of what?!" Tiffany asked, still terrified.
"That would've been you, but worse." Sophia didn't look at Tiffany, but the blonde kept looking at the amber eyed creature.
"What can be worse than that?!" Tiffany started squeaking and raising her voice.
"Had you not left your house, it would've been worse." Sophia elaborated, kind of.
As Tiffany began to say something, both heard a car beep and vision turn black.
"Hurry up, traffic will only get worse as time goes on!" The brunet shouted at the blue eyed male.
"Hm, so that's what it's like here." Ben memorised. "Next to no rain and large quantities of traffic."
(California in a nutshell
You think I'm kidding but I've been in California traffic and IT CAN BE SO BAD)
Miguel didn't know what to say to that, it was true but what's to say?
"Let's get a move on, shall we?" Ben smiled childishly.
"I swear you are bipolar." Miguel mumbled, walking to his motorcycle.
(We have a truck driver, so why not a motorcyclist?)
Ben looked at the strange vehicle with a childish grin, it was practically his trademark at this point.
"Why do you smile like that?" Miguel asked, he won't admit it but that trademark grin unsettled him.
"I thought smiling was a good thing." Ben frowned. "Isn't it a form of happiness?"
The brunet was taken aback by this answer. When the two first met, it appeared as if the blue eyed enigma knew nothing.
And yet here that enigma was, talking to him as if the boy hadn't come from a lightning box.
"You're strange." Was all Miguel could say.
"And your stranger." Ben retorted playfully.
(Guys help, I'm shipping my own characters and these two aren't allowed to date halp.)
Miguel gave up and tossed a helmet to Ben, who successfully caught the helm.
"Interesting things, these are." Miguel turned to Ben, both already had their helmets on.
The brunet sighed as he hopped on his bike, motioning Ben to follow suit.
Which he did, eventually.
And so they were off.
YOU ARE NOW LEAVING CALIFORNIA
Ben stared at the sign just a whiles away from where they currently were.
Miguel turned a sharp left, almost causing Ben to fall off, almost.
After the brunet stopped a few minutes after, Ben looked to see a building of sorts, the scent of food was strong.
"This place also doubles as a small and cheap hotel." Miguel explained, taking off his helmet with Ben following suit.
Once inside the room the two were assigned, Miguel instantly went for the news station.
Ben was confused by his actions but remained respective of the brunet's weirdness.
"This rain is a nice change, ain't it?"
Miguel groaned, this wasn't the kind of news he wanted.
Although, rain in California is weird and rare.
"Recent reports are looking for a cross-country serial killer, with probable associates. A single man was 'dead beyond explanation and comprehension.'" With curiousity, Ben looked at the screen.
"There was a similar report in northern Maine, wasn't there?" A female voice was heard.
"That's right Jaiden." "We give condolences to both families tonight." The other, male, announcer spoke with a trace of sadness.
"Maine, that must be where she ended up." Ben mumbled.
"Ben wait, this is just outside Maine." Miguel shushed.
"Eyewitness also state an out of state crash, involving two women." Both thought this could not be good.
Miguel and Ben studied the two.
"This crash involves twenty-three mechanic Tiffany Morison and one unidentified fourteen-looking girl with grey hair and brown eyes."
"I wonder if all of these recent events are linked in some way."
"These newscasters don't even know." Ben rolled his eyes and looked out the window.
"You can do whatever, I'm going to sleep." Miguel sighed as he walked over to the bed.
"What's sleep?" Ben asked, his eyes expanded and his head turned to Miguel.
"Lay on that other bed and close your eyes, you'll fall asleep eventually." Miguel muttered, his words muffled due to the pillow he was head first in.
Ben nodded, following the brunet's instructions.
A field was split in half.
Raging fire sat on one side, a familiar girl was patiently waiting.
The other side was chaos with lightning striking at random.
A familiar boy woke up, on the side with lightning but close to the border.
"Ah, hello dear friend." Sophia smiled.
"I see we've been separated on different sides." Ben stood up, Sophia following suit.
"Where did you end up?" Sophia returned to her blank face.
"A place called, Southern California with a rather smart man named Miguel." Ben crossed his arms. "We saw you on what he called the news."
"Did this, news, help you track those things?" Sophia asked. "Tiffany's radio helped me track mine down."
"Yes, they've struck three more times since the first attack in California. That I know of at least." Ben sighed, looking at his shoes.
"Did you get your charm at least?" Sophia crossed her arms.
"Of course, did you?" Ben returned the question.
"Yes."
And then she was gone, the boy smiling and disappeared as well.
So something is happening and I have zero clue what is happening.
