Frost's PoV

I stare at the hissing SeaWing standing across from me. What was his name? Cuttlefish? Starfish? Octopus? That's it, Octopus. Pfft. I've tasted octopus before, and they're not even that good. So why name your dragonet after one? To make him look like the dorkiest dragonet ever? Honestly SeaWings, I knew you guys were dumb, but even this is below average for you guys.

I hear a loud snarl opposite me, and I freeze. Did I say that out loud? Whoops, my bad. Octopus looks about ready to murder some dragon.  A grim smile creeps into my snout when I realize that Ocopus's glare is directed at me. Too funny.  Well, it's not my fault when he I rip him limb from limb. Is it?

I shake myself, trying to focus. Fight mode. I take a step towards Octopus, and he takes one back. I pause, wondering why he's suddenly so nervous, and taking a moment to look him over. He's got multiple scars, scratches and bruises, many of them recent; a few of them still have dried blood crusted here and there. Some of his talons are broken, and the webs between his toes are torn and ragged.

I'm startled out of my examination by the crowd shouting at us. Suddenly Octopus is rushing at me, claws outstretched and letting out a-what he supposed was fearsome-roar. I stood there, waiting, before I whirled away and let my tail swing into his leg. He howled with pain as blood started to flow, but froze over, creating eerie blood-red ice crystals. I jumped away before he could retaliate, eyes cold. He twisted to face me, growling. I stared right back into his eyes.

He dashed at me, and again I dodged before smashing my tail into him. He snarled loudly, cursing, before attempting to attack me once more. This time I sidestepped easily, letting him trip over my tail, which I promptly used his momentum against him to swing onto his back. Immediately he starts to buck and thrash, trying to throw me off, but I dig my talons deeper into his scales, earning a grunt of pain and more frantic jumping around, as he undoubtedly feels the ice-cold creeping slowly across his scales.

Hmm. I've never realized how good my talons are at keeping me on a crazed, thrashing SeaWing's back. Maybe I'll go to a rodeo someday. That's not a bad idea, actually.

He tries to turn the tables by rearing up and falling backwards. I manage to jump out of the way in time, watching him fall over onto himself. He groans loudly when he thuds to the floor, and I'm sure that at least some wing bones and ribs are broken.  I'll just add in his neck.

I prowl over towards him, taking my time, and he scrambled backwards. Coward. He deserves to suffer. Suddenly I lunged forwards, ripping a huge gash in his wing. Frost spreads outwards from the jagged cuts. I jumped on him and tried to pin him down, but he managed to squirm away. Octopus struggles to stand, and I wait. I'll wait for as long as I have to.

He rushes me again, this time slower. He won't last much longer--hypothermia and blood loss are taking their tolls. I tuck into a roll, sliding underneath him. As he goes past overhead, I reach up a foot to claw his softer belly scales, before twisting away. He's standing there, panting, sides heaving. Octopus's stomach is dripping, frost covers a wing--even now it continues to spread--and his legs are shaking. They won't hold out for much longer.

As I suspected, his legs collapse, unable to take his weight any longer. I saunter over to him, deciding how to kill him. I decide on something painful and not very fast. I stop and he stares into my eyes, snarling softly. I plunge my talons into his eyes before he can blink. As I pull my claws out, he shrieks in pain, doubling over. I step back and watch as the ice creeps across his snout, his forehead, slowly enveloping his head. With another slice of my claws through his throat, he keels over, jerking as blood spills out onto the sand, staining it a dull red.

The arena is silent.
