Chapter 10 Agreement
"Emmy!" I heard Lucys shrill voice cry out as the dragon began walking forward, the force of her footsteps causing the entire ground to shake, rocking my chair and causing it to tip over on its side. The ropes burned my wrists as I moved at an odd angle while attempting to free myself. I could hear the commotion of the crew trying to fight off the dragon, but I couldn't see over the back of chair.
"Emmy!" Lucy fell to her knees in front of me, yanking her small dagger out of the pouch on her waist and slicing easily through the ropes, gripping my hands and pulling me to my feet.
"Watch out!" Edmund cried, giving us just enough warning so that we could dive out of the way just as the dragon blew fire at the chair, scorching it completely. I could literally feel the heat singe my hair a bit, but had no time to think about that as the dragon began charging at us.
I pulled Lucy behind me as we ran behind the dragon towards an open door way. We dashed through it, crashing into the back wall of the small closet type space we had entered just as the dragon slammed its body against the door. The room shook, eliciting a scream from Lucy as we held onto each other.
"Hey!" We heard Trumpkins voice ring out before the dragon could turn us to ashes. "Over here!"
The dragon pulled back, tossing its head back and releasing a deafening roar that almost sounded painful before the purple mist once again surrounded the beast, evaporating slowly and leaving the girl lying in its place.
Lucy and I slowly pulled ourselves up and made our way out of the room, sighing as we made sure we were no longer in danger. I glanced over at Lucy and her brother who were hugging swiftly, opening my mouth to thank everyone, but getting cut off by someones arms.
"Ed." I laughed, dramatically shoving his chest and muttering something about not being able to breath. He mumbled a 'sorry' and pulled away with blush covered cheeks. "How'd you find me?"
He lifted the piece of paper Aslan had given us and smiled sheepishly. "Followed the map."
I was going to respond with something wittingly funny as usual, but a whimper caught my attention. I hurried over to the girl and knelt down beside her. She flinched away from me as my fingers reached out to touch the cut on her leg. "Are you alright?"
"Do I look alright?" She snapped back causing Edmund to quickly glare at her. "What was that? Theres no way a little arrow changed me back."
"You're right." Trumpkin smiled lightly at Lucys large grin of appreciation. "A little of this did the trick though." He held up a glass vile of a pink, sparkly liquid. "Aslan gave it to me before we left. Said it might come in handy."
"Seems he was right." Caspian nodded to him.
"You really weren't lying. Mallymkin is your twin." She eyed me carefully, waiting for me to nod. "Well, Aslan be with you. I told him before i'm not helping you. I cant."
"Why not?" Caspian kneeled down in front of her as she leaned up and straightened her dress a bit, toying with another slight tear. "Look, we're not going to make you, but we will ask you. Please, we need your help. We need the help of a shapeshifter."
She looked weary as Lucy stepped forward then, offering the girl a drop from her healing cordial, which she refused saying it would heal soon enough. "I'll help you with one condition. I want to see the others agree. If all of them don't, I don't."
"Alright. If that's what you want." Caspian nodded, offering his hand and pulling the girl up. She shrugged his hand off of her arm once she was securely on her feet, and pushed by him, snatching a coat off of the bed of blankets and wrapping the black fabric around herself.
We walked in silence out of the cave, the girl trailing behind the entire way through the woods. I slipped my arm out of Edmunds grip and subtly made my way back to her, smiling brightly, but quickly dropping it when her blank expression never changed. "Hows your leg?"
"Healed." She replied, side stepping me and continuing on the path behind the others. "Can I help with you something?"
"What?" I asked, peering over her shoulder lightly in attempt to see her face.
She stopped, huffing in annoyance and pushing me back lightly by my shoulders. "Look, Im sorry, okay? Is that good enough or would you like it in writing?"
I blinked at her, unsure of what to say. "I really just wanted to make sure you were okay. I wasn't asking for an apology."
We stared at each other for a few more moments before she broke her gaze and turned away from me. "Well you got one. If you don't want it now, save it for later. I'm sure i'll do something awful to you again in the near future, and this time I don't even have to feel bad."
Bushing off her sarcastic tone and words I followed closely behind her. "Sorry if I'm annoying you-"
"Oh, we're way past annoying."
I rolled my eyes. "I've just never met anyone like you before. I mean, you're a dragon! Thats amazing."
"I get it from my mother." She replied, not having looked back at me.
"You never said what your name was."
She scoffed, messing her hair up a bit. "You mean to tell me your little boyfriend doesn't have it written down on that magical piece of paper he's been so desperately clinging to?"
I glanced around her and noticed Edmund a few paces ahead of us, his eyes trained on the paper in his hands that Aslan had given him before we left, his eyebrows scrunched together in concentration and his tongue darting out a bit to wet his lips. I giggled slightly at his serious expression, immediately blushing and tearing my gaze away as he met my eyes momentarily, smiling all the while.
"Ione."
"What?" I asked suddenly, jumping a bit at her voice breaking the silence.
"My name. You asked, didn't you?" She bit out, glancing at me.
"What an interesting name. What does it mean?"
"Purple." She replied, lifting her head up as the trees ahead of us fanned out, revealing the beach, the Dawn Treader rocking gently in the slight waves off in the distance. "My mother had a-" She paused to wave her hand around, picking through her brain for the right word. "Fascination of the color, and as you can clearly see, she passed it on to me."
"Is your mother here?" I asked, biting my tongue instantly at the look that crossed her face.
"No. She's in a different realm, I guess you would say. She sent me here for safety, but her and I both know its because she didn't need anything getting in her way." She shrugged lightly, smiling down at her shoes a bit, finally turning to face me. "It's okay, don't look like you just destroyed me or anything. I'm over it."
I nodded, peering at her closely. "What was her name?"
"Maleficent."
~ Okay guys, so I know that bringing these disney characters into a Narnia story may be a bit of a stretch, but my plan for the allies is to have them all originally be from a different world. That could mean some characters from any book or movie or anything. I doubt i'll go to crazy though, and if I do use characters from something like that it won't go into much detail about the other places. Just wanted you guys to know. Please let me know what characters you would like to see(Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Ect.) I need your feedback!! Vote, Comment, Follow!~
