(Readers POV)

Ruby: This place is weird. Every empty town I've went through were destroyed, but here looks... fine.

I looked around and Ruby is right. This farm is weirdly intact. We walked on a porch of a big house.

Weiss: Maybe everyone left in a hurry. Before things took a turn?

Qrow put his hand on the door and tried to open it, but it's locked.

Qrow: Stay on guard.

He kicked the door open. I got rid of the fire around me and we all went inside. Everyone else has their weapons out just incase.

Maria: Close the door! It's already cold enough as it is!

(Y/N): I don't think we'll be able to close the door since Qrow kicked it open.

I closed it, but the wind swung it back open. Blake pushed a drawer to block the door from swinging open again.

Blake: I saw a chimney from outside. We could probably start a fire.

(Y/N): Looks like a job for me.

Weiss: I'll look for blankets.

Yang: I'll come with you.

Yang and Weiss went up a nearby set of stairs. I walked to the left with Oscar and Maria. I opened a door and the three of us walked in the room.

Oscar: Looks like a study.

I noticed a fireplace. I went up to it. I made a fireball in my hand and I lit the fireplace.

(Y/N): The fire is made!

Maria: Good. Now we won't freeze to death.

(Y/N): I'm curious. How old-

I was interrupted by a high pitch scream coming from upstairs.

(Y/N): Weiss!

I ran out the room and ran upstairs. I found the room Weiss and Yang are in.

(Y/N): Whats wrong?!

Weiss just pointed at the bed. I looked and saw two dead bodies. They have dried skin, like they have been their for sometime now.

(Y/N): Oh... that's not good.

(Time skip)

Me and Weiss are sitting in front of the fireplace. Weiss is sitting on my lap and is shaken still from finding two bodies. Blake gave me a blanket and I wrapped myself and Weiss in it.

(Y/N): I guess upstairs is off limits.

I heard the door open. Qrow walked into the room.

Qrow: It's the same in every house.

Yang: What?

Qrow: Bodies. Just in their beds dead. It's like they went to sleep and forgot to wake up.

Weiss: We're not staying here, right?

Qrow walked over to the fireplace.

Qrow: We have to stay here. The storm outside is getting worse and we would die if we tried.

Weiss: (Y/N). You can use your semblance to keep us warm, right?

(Y/N): I don't know. It might work, but I don't think we should risk it. It could fail.

Weiss looked down. I guess she really doesn't want to be here.

Maria: Well, might as well get comfortable.

Yang: Yeah, fat chance.

Ruby: Then let's do something. If this place wasn't abandoned, it might still have supplies we can use.

Oscar: Yeah. Maybe we can find a car to use.

Blake: Me and Yang can search for vehicles.

Yang: Fine, whatever gets me out of this house.

Yang and Blake left the house. Weiss got off my lap and stood up.

Weiss: Me and Ruby will go and find some food.

(Y/N): Ok, be careful.

Weiss: We will.

Weiss and Ruby walked out the room. I looked over and Maria grabbed a book from a shelf.

Maria: I'll tell you what. You make sure that fire stays alive...

Maria opened the book and sat down on the couch.

Maria: ...and I'll find us a story to read before bed.

(Y/N): Oh, I love bedtime stories.

(Time skip)

Everyone came back from their searches. It's getting dark. Weiss, Yang, and Blake sat down in front of the fireplace to warm up.

(Y/N): Dinner was... beans.

Weiss: Yeah, but can't really complain.

Ruby walked in the room.

Ruby: Hey guys. Qrow said we should get some sleep. We're gonna head out early tomorrow.

Blake: Thank goodness.

Everyone got a blanket and laid down on the floor. Weiss laid down next to me. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close.

(Y/N): Good night Weiss.

Weiss: Good night (Y/N).

I closed my eyes. I feel Weiss wrap her arms around me and snuggled closer to me.

(Time skip)

I woke up by sunshine hitting my eyes. I groaned and got up slowly. I heard glass shatter. I walked out the room and saw Ruby and Qrow.

(Y/N): What was that noise?

I yawned. I noticed glass on the floor.

Ruby: Good morning (Y/N). Can you wake up everyone else?

(Y/N): ...Sure.

I walked back into the study. I walked over to Weiss. I put my hand on her shoulder and started to gently shake her.

(Y/N): Weiss. Wake up.

Weiss groaned and rolled over.

Weiss: Do I have to?

Weird. I thought she would be excited to be leaving this place. I thought about what to do to get Weiss up. I made a small flame on the tip of my finger. I put it on a corner of the blanket Weiss is using.

Weiss: Why is it getting hot?

She looked down and opened her eyes. She noticed the small fire and freaked out. She quickly stood up. Her freaking out woke everyone else up.

(Y/N): Good morning everyone.

Weiss slapped me in the face.

(Y/N): Ow!

Weiss: Don't ever do that again!

(Y/N): Ok, message received.

I held my cheek. Weiss hit it really hard. There probably is a hand mark on my cheek. Weiss sighed. She removed my hand from my cheek and kissed my cheek.

Weiss: I'm sorry. You just scared me.

(Time skip)

Everyone is outside. Yang and Blake found a small trailer. The trailer is attached to Yang's bike.

Qrow: Well, we can finally leave this place.

Qrow put his foot on the trailer and one of the tires went flat.

Maria: You people are just a beacon of bad luck huh?

Yang: I think the universe doesn't want us to get to Atlas.

Ruby: It's just a flat tire. We can find a spare.

Yang: It's not just that, it's everything. Storms, crashes, Grimm.

Blake: Me too.

I looked over at Weiss and she has a troubled look on her face.

Weiss: I've been thinking... why are we even going to Atlas?

(Y/N): I know you don't want to go there, but we have to. Don't we?

Yang: Why? The Relics are hidden behind gaint doors under giant schools. How long would it take for Salem to find it in the middle of nowhere?

Ruby: But the Grimm-

Yang: They would find it eventually, but it could take them years. It might not happen in our lifetime. Just toss the Relic in the well.

I wanted to tell everyone not to give up, but I feel too tired to do so. Ruby to the Relic off her belt and walked to a well.

Ruby: I am... really... tired...

She looked down the well and freaked out, causing her to drop the Relic.

(Y/N): Oh crap.

Ruby: No! No! No! I didn't mean to!
