Surtur rising

The following days spent in Muspelheim Loki and you were tracking down a smaller group of the Firefolk. You unsettled your camp, and now were constantly moving, trying to reach the prey ahead. During these days you learned to work and move as a team quite well.

Maybe for the first time in his life, Loki let someone else be in charge and actually listened to you. He trusted your knowledge of the place, and happily followed your lead. Though he would have never said it out loud, he liked the fierce and confident character of yours as you were marching ahead into the burning wasteland like nothing could stop you. Besides all the confidence and bravery on the outside, on the inside, you were so understanding and caring, which he hasn't really experienced before. But what he most liked about you was your sass, and sense of humour. You were almost as mischevious as the god himself. Almost.

The tracks you were now following for almost a week ended near one of the several volcanos in the realm. You decided to go ahead and scout the area in your Muspel form, so you wouldn't stand out. Loki's task was to stay in place, and to not cause any trouble until your return.

As you were slowly approaching the volcano, you discovered a hidden cave entrance in the huge wall of stones. It was covered with some kind of weak magic, too easy for you to find. You suggested this would be the Firefolk's hideout. You were just about to turn back and inform Loki when sounds of shouting hit your ear. Right from the direction where the trickster god was left behind. 'Shit!' you started to run back as fast as you could, hoping that Loki could stand his ground alone.

Blood was ringing in your ears and your lungs were burning but you kept going. From the distance, you could make out six giants fighting against the tiny, but quick form of Loki. The sight of the giants made your stomach shrink into one tiny ball, and fear was slowly crawling up your spine. They were way more bigger than the usual Firefolks, and this could only mean one thing: they were members of the royal guardians. 'Shit!' you thought again. You were in bigger trouble than you first thought.

Loki took out one of the guardians just as you arrived. Five still remained. You rushed by his side with your sword in one hand, and a huge ball of fire in the other.

"I told you to stay in place and avoid any trouble," you hissed at him, as you were back to back, covering each other.

"Sorry, bad habits," he smiled sheepishly as he dodged the strike of a huge burning sword.

"You have... no... idea... how big trouble... are we in... right now!" you shouted back shooting a fireball from your palms at each word. Fighting fire with fire wasn't really effective, but it distracted the giants giving you just enough time to perform a critical strike at one's skull. Two down, four to go.

As you turned around to face the next enemy, you saw Loki casting several illusions of himself, surrounding two of the royal guardians. Luckily the Firefolks weren't famous for their high intelligence, so it kept them busy for a while. Together you finished off another one: Loki pinned the giant's hand to the ground with his sceptre, and you finished the job by decapitating the beast. Just as you were about to high-five, loud steps shook the ground, almost knocking you off of your feet.

A second later there he was in all his glory: Surtur, known as the destroyer of the universe. Well, long time no see. And things were better that way. Your knees started to shake as the ruler of Muspelheim rose meters above your head. He was the last person you wanted to meet right now. Loki and you couldn't stand a chance against him. Basically, until Ragnarok he is immortal and no one can defeat him. You had to leave this place as fast as you can.

"Laufeyson! How dare you to come here with my traitor bastard and start killing my people? Asgard will burn for this!" His voice rumbled like an erupting volcano. He rose his fist up above his head, just so in the next moment he can smash down on the man you care so much about. As his giant fist was descending the world blurred around you. The only thing you remembered is running toward Loki like your life depends on it, and with one final leap you reach and hold onto him tight.

Then darkness wrapped you. The only thing existing around you was the man you were hugging tight.

A second later both of you landed on the ground, piling on top of each other. You kept your eyes shut tight not daring to look, and waited for your breathing slowing back to normal.

When you finally opened your eyes, you were lying on top of Loki, who you were still holding onto, on the floor of your room in Stark Tower. You made it. You managed to reach the demigod in the last moment before Surtur smashing into dust both of you, and teleported back to Earth. Your heart was still beating so fast like it wanted to break out of your chest, and your head was dizzy from the teleportation.

As your head rested on Loki's chest, you could hear his heart racing too, and both of your bodies were still shaking a little from fear and the adrenaline rush. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the man under you started to laugh hysterically. His ringing voice filled the tense air, and a glimpse later you found yourself laughing and crying at the same time. The shock and everything were too much to handle, and the emotions washed over both of you. Finally, when you both calmed down, you looked at him:

"You almost got us killed! You're lucky to have me saving your pretty ass."

"Come on! I totally was in control of the situation. Everything was going as planned," he smiled at you, while with one hand he played with your hair. His other hand was calmingly stroking your back. You realized you were still lying on him, but you were too tired and numb to move, and you simply felt safe in his arms.

You absently started to draw random patterns on his chest with your fingertips. You wanted to say a spicy comeback or a funny insult, but your mind went completely blank. Those blue eyes of him made you hypnotized, and you just wanted to lay on the floor with him, until the trauma slowly fades away...

"Hey, are you okay? The alarm went off when you teleported back, and I thought you may be injured or..." the door burst wide open as Tony marched in.

"Oh geez! I rushed here to save your life, only to find you making out on the floor? You guys are gross." He slammed the door shut behind him, and left the room. As he walked in, you quickly climbed off of the demigod, but it was too late. You stood up dusting your burnt clothes with a blush on your face. Tony always had a good sense of ruining the moment...

"Hey, is this idea so bad?" Loki stepped in front of you.

"What?" Your mind was still too confused to work. Out of nowhere Loki grabbed your hips and pulled you close to his body.

"Us making out," he purred seductively in your ear.

This only made you blush harder. The idea of the two of you was very appealing, and being this close to him sent shivers down your spine. You pushed your hips against his bulge, making him let out a small moan. The next moment you pulled away and headed to the door.

"I'm not that easy, Iceboy," you looked back above your shoulder with a mischievous grin, as you strut out of the room to find Tony with an explanation.
You wanted to get him but also wanted him to work for it.
