End
You were standing in your room with eyes wide open and speechless. Loki got down on one knee and held up a small box with a ring in it to you.
"(Y/n), will you marry me?" he looked up at you with his beautiful blue eyes full of hope and love. You just didn't know what to say, this surprised you that much, you couldn't even remember your own name.
"I- I..."
*back to a few hours ago*
Loki was lying on his bed, recalling the happenings of last night. He felt stupid for sneaking out and leaving you alone. He should have stayed, but he just couldn't have stood the disappointment and sorrow in your look. He simply chickened out like a coward, because he was scared to face the consequences of his mistake. He wanted to be there for you, to show you how he still loved you after everything, but he failed you hard, and couldn't face it. Loki saw how much pain he caused to you with his stupidity, and he thought it would be the best to give you some time and let you have some peace to figure things out. He had no idea how he could make things up to you, so he stayed away to not to make things worse than they already were.
Suddenly the door of his room burst open as Thor thundered in shouting incoherently:
"SHE STILL LOVES YOU BUT THINKS YOU WANT TO BREAK UP WITH HER YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW OR I'LL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE WITH MJOLLNIR!"
"What the hell are you doing, you can't just march in my room and- wait what?!" Loki sat up on the bed with confusion written all over his face. "What did you just say?"
As Thor managed to calm down a bit, he settled down next to his brother and told him everything about the conversation he had with you. He was so concerned about his brother's happiness and wanted the two of you to get back together so badly, it made Loki smile to himself. Since Frigga's left, no one was ever caring about him in that family, but during the last year, he got kind of close to his brother again. Thanks to you. He had to realise, everything good in his life was related to you somehow. The Thunderer was right, he had to quit dwelling in self-pity and it was time to step up his game to get you back. It was his only chance, but he was still afraid that it might be too late.
Thor's words made him realise how bad he did to avoid you and leave you. It just made things worse, since you thought that Loki gave up on you, and it pushed you even farther from him. He ushered Thor out of his room and sat down to figure something out. The trickster god had still no idea how he was going to make you forgive him, but he needed to try anyway...
After having a long, ventilating conversation with the Thunder God, you stayed on the rooftop alone, staring at the rising sun and the city down below. You had a lot to think about because knowing about your lover's state and condition changed a lot of things. It still was no excuse or explanation for why the hell did he sleep with that other woman, but it put things in new sight for you. Maybe you really should hear him out and should consider his side of the story and his reasons. It was only fair this way, you couldn't decide alone about the future of your relationship. Also, you tried to kill him and hurt him badly, and you didn't give him a chance to say a word about it. It was about the two of you, you were together in this thing. Both of you were bearing the scars of this story, just like the burn marks on your arms.
After like one or two peaceful hours spent in the rooftop garden thinking about all your problems, you decided to retrieve to the library, and relax a bit with your favourite book. You knew that Loki might be there, but you didn't mind it. You had come to terms with it and accepted the possible outcomes. Though you found the library empty, so you settled in one of the big, comfortable armchairs and buried yourself into your favourite book you've read a hundred times before. It settled your mind, and took you to another world, away from every misery in your surroundings. When you reached the end of the last page, you put the book back to the shelf and headed to your room.
As you opened the door, you found Loki sitting on the bed, his back facing to you. At first, you thought you walked up in the wrong room again, like on the very first day you met him. You were just about to back out when you realised it was your room. He was sitting in your bed, waiting for you.
"What are you doing here?" you tried to sound confident, and hide the shaking in your voice. Somehow you had a bad feeling about this.
"Look, we can't continue pretending like nothing happened and just avoid each other. We both hurt the other, and we need to talk about this," he turned to you. You tried to read from his face or eyes, but he was the master of hiding his feelings. He had that cold, neutral look on his face that was impossible to read from. You slowly walked into the room, and sat on the other end of the bed, still trying to catch a single sign of emotions on his face.
"Okay. You're right, we have a lot to talk about. I already apologised, but I'll do it again if you want. I'm sorry for everything I did back in Jotunheim. I wasn't myself. You know, I'd never hurt you, and I feel horrible for what I did to you. When I woke up, here again, my worst fear was to see you injured. That I did this to you. I just wanted this whole nightmare to go away and be with you like before. But then you dropped the bomb..." Your last words hit him right where it hurts the most, you could see it in his baby blue eyes. You didn't want to argue with him, but it needed to be said. You had to say all the things on your mind to finally set yourself free from them.
"I know. And I know I messed up badly, I have no excuse. I got too deep down in the rabbit hole, and I couldn't find my way out of it. You know me more than anyone, you know how much I love you-'"
"I thought I know you. Until I heard that while I was going through hell, you were having fun with some slutty mistress! You betrayed and humiliated me in front of the whole Asgardian royalty, and our friends! You made a fool out of me! I was fighting with my every cell to survive and get back to you, only to find out you couldn't contain your manhood and went after the first girl in your way!" you cut him in midsentence. The thought of his affair still made your blood boil, and you just couldn't contain yourself from shouting at him.
"You think it was easy for me? Sitting at home not knowing if you're dead or alive? To see you scattered and insane, trained to come and kill me? You forced me to fight you, and I almost died because I didn't fight you back. I know I was stupid to bed that girl, but what do you want from me? I said a million times I love you, I even led a goddamn army just to save you and get you back! I have no idea what else could I do to make it up to you!" His eyes were burning with anger as he was now shouting too.
Both of you stood up in the heat of argument from the bed and were standing only a few inches away from each other. You were breathing hard, your faces red from anger. You took a step toward him, you wanted to shout at him again, but he grabbed the back of your neck, and pulled you into a kiss. It was intense and rough, with all your emotions filled into it. You snaked your arms around his neck, and pressed yourself against his body, deepening the kiss. You let your emotions completely wash over you, as you melted into this wild, passionate kiss. The whole world stopped existing around you, it was only Loki and you. Nothing else mattered. When you finally parted, both of you were panting.
You took a step back to catch your breath, a bit surprised from this sudden kiss fight. You felt somehow relieved like you released all your anger and suppressed feelings into this, and now it all was gone. Loki was searching for your gaze to find any reassurance, but you were confused, not sure what just happened.
"I love you. I don't know how else could I prove it. I want to leave all this behind and return to how we used to be before. I want to be with you for the rest of my life." He took a deep breath and continued, locking his gaze into yours. "I was waiting for too long for the best opportunity, and I almost lost you. I won't make the same mistake again, I can't lose you one more time. I can't breathe without you, and my life just feels empty. I want you to be my queen."
With these words, he got down on one knee and held out a small box with a ring in it to you.
"(Y/n), will you marry me?"
This hit you out of nowhere. Your mind stopped functioning and your heart began to beat like it's about to break out pf your chest as you were staring down at Loki proposing to you. Memories were rushing through your head. The first day you saw him, your journey to the nine realms, your beautiful, happy life before. Then pictures of him cheating on you, and all your pain and sorrow. The fight you had, and all the things Thor said.
"I- I..." You looked into his blue eyes, full of hope, almost begging you to say something. You took a moment - that for Loki seemed to be an eternity - to recompose yourself from the shock, and finally, a wide grin spread across your face as you threw your arms around his neck, almost knocking him over.
"Yes, yes, yes! A hundred times yes!" you buried your face into his neck repeating the same word over and over again. It was simple, but it meant the world for both of you. You have never been this happy in your entire life. You felt like everything was in its place again. Everything was right.
"But just for your information, I'm already a future-queen. I'm the rightful heir of Muspelheim. What else can you offer on top of this?" you said teasingly when you could finally stop smiling and could speak again.
"You're so annoying!" Loki laughed while releasing you from the tight embrace. "You may be the future-queen there, but now you'll be my queen. I love you," he said while sliding the beautiful ring on your finger.
"I love you too," you leaned your forehead against his. "Promise me, from now everything will be fine."
"I promise."

In the evening the Avengers returned home from their missions, and they gathered in the living room discussing their days and chatting happily.
"Anyway, where is (y/n) and Loki? Have anybody seen them?" Steve looked around in the room noticing that you weren't there to welcome him back. Thor was just about to answer, and tell them that he made the two of you talk things through when they suddenly heard loud screams from the other end of the corridor, and then the fire alarm went off.
"That's my brother," Thor commented with a proud smile, folding his arms in front of his chest.
"Gross. But at least they are back together as I can hear," Tony added while trying to hide his grin.
The next morning when everybody sat around the kitchen table having breakfast, you entered the room hand in hand with Loki. All eyes were pinned on the two of you, so as you sat down to an empty chair, you placed your hand on the table, showing off your ring with a huge smile shining on your face.
"Oh my god! We leave for a day and you two get engaged?" Nat squeaked in excitement.
"Congratulations, I'm glad you could find your way back to each other. I'm so happy for you!" Steve added with a bright grin on his face. "But you know what will happen if you ever dare to hurt her again," he gave the trickster god a meaningful look.
"Oh cool! In no time the tower will be a stupid playground, loud and noisy from your children running up and down!" Tony complained, but you could tell that behind the arrogant comment, he was happy for you too. And it was enough coming from him.
"What? Lady (y/n), why didn't you tell me? Oh, brother, it's so amazing that she is pregnant, I'm going to be an uncle! It's so exciting and-" Thor started, but you quickly covered his mouth with your hand. You felt a deep blush spreading across your face.
"Calm down, big boy. I'm not pregnant. I think I don't plan to have kids for at least a hundred years. Maybe a bit longer, I don't know." You looked at Loki, hoping he didn't mind your opinion about not having kids in the close future.
"Aw, what a shame! But their DNA and genes would be so fascinating! I mean I wonder what abilities would they have with both Muspel and Jotun origins," Bruce started in excitement. His words struck in your mind. What would those kids be like? How would they natural form look like? Part frost giant, part fire giant. They would be fire and ice at the same time.
"I'm sure they would be beautiful. If they will be at least a tiny bit like you, they will be perfect to me," Loki said while squeezing your hand under the table. Like he was reading your mind. "Also I'm sorry, but it seems like neither of you will meet them. Only Thor, if he doesn't get killed until that," he turned back to Bruce.
"It's fine. You are gods and superior creatures after all. You have plenty of time to start a family. Anyway, do you have any plans for after the Avengers?" Bruce turned to you.
"We haven't talked about it yet, but I'd be happy to move to Asgard, and maybe start our new life there. Only of course, if the king allows," you winked at Thor with a playful smile.
"You and my brother are welcomed there any time you want. You are my family," he pulled both of you into a tight bearhug.
Loki and you had almost an eternity ahead, and after everything, you were stronger together than ever. You were bound to be together from the first moment you met, the small burn marks reminded you every day. You loved each other more than ever, and you promised to never leave each other's side ever again.
Your fire found its place by his ice...
