She stands up and winces at the pain in her ribs. Leo, Will and Claire go to the big house, where a bunch of demigods are gathered around a girl with red hair, green eyes, and freckles. She's kinda cute.

"Settle down everyone." Chiron says.

"Is there a new prophecy?" Someone asks.

"Yes. There is a new prophecy." He says. A ton of kids start talking all at once.

"Will there be angst?

"Who's in it?"

"What's it say?"

"Quiet!" Chiron yells. "Miss dare will tell you the prophecy."

Rachel opens her mouth and green smoke starts to pour out of it. 

"A son of fire and a daughter of ice shall go north to find what was lost and see it safely returned."

 Rachel's legs give out and she collapses. Will runs over and takes her to the infirmary.

"What does it mean by a son of fire and a daughter of ice?" Percy wonders.

"I believe it means a son of Hephaestus and a daughter of– this can't be!" Chiron says. A daughter of who? Claire thinks to herself. It can't be her. Could it?

"The son of fire must be Leo then." Percy says. "But who is the daughter of ice?" Claire realizes it's her. She's the daughter of the ice.
"Leo and someone will go on a quest." Chiron says.

"Where will it be to?" Percy asks.

"We think north means Canada, so it might be another trip to the ice palace." Leo groans inwardly. That means he might have to see Khione, the snow goddess, again. Ugh. He cringed. Not only that but he had to go on a quest with Claire! Ugh! She reminds me so much of Calypso. Sassy yet sensitive. Though it's not like Calypso even had a sensitive bone in her body.

In the next few minutes, Leo made two mistakes. The first one was during the campfire. 

Claire's' marshmallow had just fallen into the campfire. She groaned.

"Want me to go get you a new one?" Will asked.

"Yeah Claire says. Not really paying attention. He leaves.

"You okay?" Leo asks.

"Ye-no." She says.

"Thinking about James?" Leo asks. Claire nods her head yes.

"It's just- I'm having this recurring nightmare about him." She adds. "In it, I'm watching him fight two Hellhounds with a stick and a satyr is trying to get him to go across the border and a Hellhound traps him-" She starts to cry.

"Hey, it's okay." Leo puts his arm around her. That's the first mistake. Claire freezes. She flinches out of his grasp and abruptly stands up. Then he tries to grab her arm. Second mistake. Claire runs into the woods.

"Hey, where's she going?" Will asks. "What happened?"

"I-I put my arm around her and she stood up so I grabbed her arm and she ran away." Leo stutters out.

"Oh gods, Leo." He adds."Claire doesn't like physical contact. Something bad happened to her before she came to camp."

Oh gods. What has he done? 

Oh gods, Claire thought, why did you do that? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Every time she gets close to someone they pull that sort of thing. She ran to her favorite tree and climbed up it. Claire sat there and cried. Two minutes later it started snowing even though it was early September. This happened when she felt strong emotions. This was why she didn't get attached to people. First James, then her dad, and now Leo.

"Claire?" Someone calls. It's Will.

"Claire?" Someone else calls. It's Leo.

"Let's get this over with." Claire mutters.

"Claire?" Leo calls.

"Yeah?" She asks.

"Claire!" Leo gasps with relief. He's wearing snow stuff, as well as Will. "Weird, huh."

"What's weird?" She asks. He gestures at the snow. "Yeah, about that..." Leo and Will both gasp. Claire looks up to see a light blue snowflake above her head.

"Will?" She asks. "Was I just claimed?"

"Yes. Yes, Claire, you were." His tone is concerned.

"What– by whom?" She asks.

"C'mon." Will says.

"Where are we going?" Claire asks.

"To see Chiron." Leo says. Upon asking why, he responds, "Because you've been claimed."
"By whom?! Tell me!" She exclaimed. Leo ignores Claire. They have to get to the big house where Chiron is waiting.

"Claire, Leo." Chiron greets. "What brings you to my office at this time?"

"Claire... Claire's been claimed." Leo says.

Chiron gasps. "Oh... that's wonderful! By whom?" Chiron asks.

"Uhm..." Leo hesitates. "I don't think Claire should hear this."

"Why? Are they a bad god/goddess?" Her eyes widened in fear. "Are- are they a titan?" Claire's voice wavers.

"No, Claire, they're not bad nor are they a titan." Chiron says.

"Then who are they?!" Claire exclaims.

"Sigh. Claire, you've been claimed by Khione.
