Hiccup stopped. I gave him a look and he closed his eyes.

“Oh no…” Jack’s smile faded as he saw what was happening.

“Hiccup, what’s wrong?” He gave me a look and my eyes widened. I dropped their arms and shot into the forest.

When I dropped next to Paint, I was exhausted. Toothless stood by her, blocking my view. His head was dipped and I felt myself start to panic. I ran forward to see tears falling from his eyes, tears of… happiness?! I looked at my dragon friend to see her smiling up at me, her back left with only a scar and the smaller cuts already gone. Just as I began to become healed after Pitch left, so did she. I laughed and felt my dragon wings spread behind me. I did a little flip in the air and a small blast of plasma shot from my mouth. I covered my face and felt my cheeks go red. Toothless laughed and fell backwards, wriggling around in the grass and snorting. Paintsplash laughed, but she tried to cover her mouth with her paw, which just made her laugh more! I dropped down and gave her head a huge hug. She purred and I smiled. “I am so glad you’re ok, Paint. But you sure did miss a lot!”

“Yeah, I bet. Hey, your arm looks better! That’s great!” I nodded. Then I turned to Toothless, who was still giggling.

“Shouldn’t you be taking care of your mate, Toothless? Instead on making fun of me?” He immediately stopped rolling around and sat straight up. Paint and I exchanged a look and winked. “I’ll let you two be alone. Jack might have come back from the dead, but I still need to care for his side. And I want to know how my tears healed Hiccup.” The night furies gaped at me.

“Jack died?”

“Hiccup was injured and healed by tears?” I laughed at their expressions.

“I’ll explain everything later. For now, I am going to care for my family. And that includes you two.

I flew back to the boys, both of which wanted to know what happened. I explained that Paintsplash was fine, I just wanted to give Toothless and her some alone time. Hiccup blushed when I said that and Jack laughed at his expression. I was glad they were finally starting to get along, but I had to wonder why. So I asked them. They exchanged a look and Jack answered.

“Well we aren’t exactly perfect buds, but we do have the most important thing in common: You. We had to work together to save you, and I think that is a good basis for a friend.”

“Woah Jack, don’t get all emotional on me!” Hiccup joked.

“C’mon, we’re bros, it’s all good! Yolo, you know? Well, unless you are me I guess!” Hiccup just stared. “Oh dude, I forgot you’re an oldie. I have to teach you in the ways of the 21st century. You may be smart, but now I’m the master!” He patted him on the back and laughed. I just raised an eyebrow and put a hand on my hip. Jack’s attention reverted to me and he flew over, tickling my sides. I giggled and ended up on the floor, gasping and laughing. He helped me up and we all walked out the door together, my arm threaded through Hiccup’s and my other through Jack’s. He put an arm around my waist and I felt a blush rise on my cheeks. Hiccup smiled and Jack raised an eyebrow. “Oh, Summy, you gotta get used to it! Now that I’m back, you aren’t leaving my side.” He kissed my cheek and I smiled.

“I think I can live with that.”
