Fire: Snippet

Jackson P.O.V.

The small, ceramic bottle slips from his hands. Those beautiful brown eyes that I fell in love with many years ago grow wide. The fruity aroma of the liquor becomes stronger as the red liquid spreads across my floor. He quickly grabs the bottom of his robes in an attempt to clean the mess but I move to stop him.

"Don't worry about that."

I'm not surprised when Jinyoung moves again to clean up the spill. He's always been a very tidy person. He also has always been very stubborn. I snatch the black fabric of his robes from him. "Let me at least get something to properly clean this mess." He frowns a bit but agrees.

I grab the dark blue dressing robe that I discarded from earlier and toss it go him. He hurriedly cleans the spilled liquid.

"Thanks for doing that."

He hums in response before folding the garment near the rest of my soiled clothes.

I sit back on the bed and watch in awe as he begins to gather all of my dirty clothes that I randomly threw around my room.

"So freaking nasty," He mumbles as he begins to clean.

An amused grin spreads across my face. I miss his nagging at me. "You missed a spot." I tease.

"Fuck you."

"I wouldn't mind doing that either."

A sleep shirt is tossed my way but I dodge it. I giggle at the childish antics. "You missed that too."

Jinyoung marches over, pushing me back on the bed. His legs plant on each side of me, his large hands pin my arms above my head. Those warm lips connect with my own in a gentle, butterfly like kiss reminiscent of our first one.

"Did I miss this time?" He breathes into my ear before pulling away.

The bangs of his hair fall forward. Unlike many years ago, he wears his hair in a bowl cut that displays how much he has grown.

"No, but I bet you can't do it again."

A playful scoff leaves his lips before he leans down to kiss me again. My arms escape his hold and wrap around the petite waist.

I waited ten years for this moment. It's been exactly ten years since I've been able to hold him. It's been a long ten years since I've even been able to see his face. It's been ten long years without my Jinyoung.

His lips begins to leave a trail of kisses down to my neck. And that's when those three words spill from my lips: "I miss you."

His lips linger on my neck for a second before he looks up with a shy smile. "I've missed you, too." A kiss is pressed against by jaw.

"You should come back."

His body tenses. "You know I can't do that."

"Why not? You don't have to go back to Serendipity Recesses. You could live here with me in Def Soul."

"Jackson, no clan will accept me after what happened."

"Why don't you talk to Jaebeom? He's hot tempered at times but he's an understanding leader. Plus, you two were once friends."

There's a look of sadness in his eyes that he hides by busying burrowing himself into my neck. "Can we not do this?" He mumbles.

"I have to do this now or it may be another ten years before I see you again."

"I'm surprised you actually counted."

"Ten years later and you're still as sassy." This causes him to slightly giggle. I missed that about him too. "Jinyoungie?"

"Hmm?"

"If you don't feel comfortable coming back here then let me come with you." He breathes a deep sigh, lifting himself to look down into my eyes. "Jackson, you're second in command here. I wouldn't let you give that up."

"What if I did it anyway?" I protest.

"Then I'd kill you with my bare hands for doing something so reckless." Inhale. Exhale. "You come from a family of servants. You're the first Wang in history to ever hold a position so high. You made history! Why would I let you throw it away?"

"Because it means nothing if you're not by my side."

"Did you really just say that?" Jinyoung breaks away from my hold and stomps towards the door. He looks back at me with a glare. He's angry, and I understand why considering how he lost everything.

And technically, I'm the reason why.

I also understand that Jinyoung is a man of his word and doesn't make idle threats. If he says he'll kill me then he's going to kill me. But despite my understanding, there's one thing he doesn't understand.

"Hey, Park Gae? Remember when you said you'd kill me?"

"Jackson? Mute. Stop talking."

I grab my sword which is stationed on the floor near my bed. I need to feel protected before I utter my next line. "You better prepare to kill me then."

The sigh that escapes his lips is slow, as if he has to process his next response. He stands in the door frame, hands gathered behind his back. He may have lost his status but the royal mannerisms stayed. "As you wish," he sighs.

I smile with glee. This shall be interesting.
