Chapter 16: The Secretary
-Meredy P. O. V.- (Just to clarify, last chapter may have confused some people. As, last chapter, Gray and Lucy's segments were in the middle of second period, and Wendy's was after. A slight slip up on my part, but, we're in third period now. I apologize if you were confused.)
And now third period rolls around.
I seem to be having relatively good luck. First period, got a grumpy teacher, but I was with Ultear and Lyon. Second period, I was alone, but Ms. Corona was so nice! She was a few minutes late for second period, though. (From giving Wendy the letter.)
Now I'm at third period, and I have Mr. Jason, a pretty weird one, but I'm next to my other best friend, Juvia!
"So, did he really say yes?" I asked her.
"Yes! Gray-sama did say yes to Juvia!" She whispered back to me. "Gray-sama checked the 'yes' box on the note!" Juvia took a piece of paper out of her pocket, and sure enough, it showed that someone with a different handwriting than her had checked the 'yes' box.
"Congratulations, Juvia! So, do you think he considers it a date?"
The girl's cheeks flushed.
"D-Don't be silly, Meredy-chan. Juvia is only hanging out with Gray-sama."
Juvia has had the biggest crush on Gray ever since they met during freshmen year. At first, she thought he would hate her, because she went to Phantom Lord Middle School, but he actually became good friends with her! Kind of how Levy became good friends with Gajeel, because he also went to PLMS. Man, I love acronyms!
Personally, I went to Grimoire Heart Middle School with Ultear, which is how we became best friends. I don't really know why she didn't go to the middle school that Gray or Lyon went to. I only know that the reason she didn't is because she didn't want to go to the same middle school as either of them, but I don't know why she didn't want to. I'm her best friend, so she at least explained their whole family dynamic, but she didn't explain why their relationships are so... complicated.
But, someday I will find out. I mean, I can probably guess. Well, since Gray and Lyon are-
"Meredy!" My. Jason yelled from the front. (I just love keeping you guys in the dark about Gray's family dynamic. I'll explain it eventually, but for now, I'll keep you guessing!)
I snapped to attention. "Yes?"
"Can you please explain to the class why the Pythagorean Theorem is so COOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!????"
This guy's a loon...
-Wendy P. O. V.-
I'm so happy that Chelia was in my third period class! We both got Mr. Clive! He teaches history. According to Zeref, Mr. Clive's actually has some 'history' with this school, himself. He has a daughter, I think she was with Natsu and Zeref's friends at the fire pit this morning.
"Ms. Dragneel, please come to my desk." Mr. Clive's voice boomed throughout the classroom.
I got up and went to his desk. He handed me an envelope. "Can you please take this down to the principal's office?"
I nodded, taking the envelope. "Yes sir, but I don't exactly know where the office is."
He sighed. "Do we have a volunteer that knows where the office is?"
Chelia shot her hand up in the air like a rocket.
"You."
Chelia practically jumped out of her seat and we left the classroom.
"So, where's the main office?" I asked her.
"It's on the second floor, so it's downstairs." She answered. "So, how do you like it here?"
"I think it's pretty fun! Ms. Carla seems like a nice teacher, and Mr. Clive seems rather nice as well, but perhaps a bit childish sometimes. And I'm sure that Ms. Corona will be a great art teacher!" I told her.
We casually chatted until we reached the main office. We stepped inside and saw a woman at a desk. She had light green hair and was wearing a pair of matching green glasses. She seemed very busy on her computer.
We walked over to the desk. I noticed the nameplate. "Ms. Fiore." I whispered to Chelia.
"This must be the secretary." She replied.
"I can hear you two." Ms. Fiore's voice startled us. "What did you come down here for? Do you have a reason?"
I placed the envelope on her desk. "Mr. Clive sent us down here." I told her.
She picked up the envelope and read the message that she pulled out. She then got up and walked into a door that had "Principal" written on the front.
"So... do we wait for her?" I asked Chelia.
"Should I stay or should I go?" Chelia asked.
"That's not funny..." I sweatdropped.
"Yes it is." She said.
Ms. Fiore came back out, sat down at her desk and continued her work. I guess she just gave the letter to the principal.
"You two can go back to class now." She said.
We were about to leave, but I had a question lingering in my mind. "Ms. Fiore. May I ask you something?"
She looked up at me. "I guess. What do you want to know?"
"How long have you been working here?"
She paused a moment, looking like she was searching for an answer for why I asked. "This is my first year."
I nodded. "Thank you."
I turned to leave with Chelia, but Ms. Fiore spoke again. "Wait a minute."
We turned to her.
"You two. You're freshmen here, correct?"
We nodded. "Yeah. What's important about that?"
"You forgot to ask Mr. Clive to give you two hall passes to come here."
Me and Chelia looked at each other, feeling kind of stupid, because that rule was taught to us this morning.
Ms. Fiore giggled. "It's your first year. You'll get off easy this time. Just don't let Laki catch you. now head back to class, girls."
"Thank you, Ms. Fiore." I told her.
Chelia and I left the office and headed back towards Mr. Clive's class. We have lunch next period.
I have a good feeling about it.
