Chapter 6: I Forgot
Ash
"You can leave now" I say under my breath. I'm still confused. I took time out of my day to help her. Well it's not like I had a choice, it was my fault, but a thank you would be nice. I think about those four words as I walk to my last class, science, with Mr. Carthy.
"Can anyone tell me what osmosis is?" Mr. Carthy says in his usual loud voice.
"Water diffusion" a girl next to me says.
"Correct!" Mr. Carthy then writes on the board.
"Hey!" The girl next to me says. I turn to her and notice that it's Fiona. "I forgot to thank you for helping me this morning" I have been obsessing over her not saying thank you, now that she said it I realize that it wasn't a big deal.
"No problem" I say "Also sorry about your foot. What did the nurse-"
"Osmosis, on the other hand, refers to the diffusion of the solvent across a selectively permeable membrane" booms Mr. Carthy. "What does selectively permeable mean?" I raise my hand.
"A selectively permeable cell membrane is one that allows certain molecules or ions to pass through it by means of active or passive transport"
"Exactly" Mr. Carthy is about to turn around when he says "Are you the new student?"
"Yes" I regret my answer.
"Well come up here introduce youself to the class" I hesitate. Then I stand up and walk toward the front of the class.
"Hi, I'm Ash Collins from California" I'm unsure what say next "Can I sit down now?"
"Don't you want to tell your classmates anything about yourself?"
"I have black hair" I say annoyed "Now can I sit down?"
"Anyone have any question for Mr. Collins" the room is silent. "Go ahead" he says. As I am taking my seat I feel as everyone's eyes are following me. Then, thank god, the bell rings.
