Chapter 29: I Don't Think It's A Good Idea
Fiona
We are standing in front of Ash's window watching the moon.
"Fiona," Ash says. He looks at me but I don't look at him because I know the question he is going to ask.
"Yeah," I say, still looking out the window. He pulls at my sleeve. I turn to him. I look into his shining eyes.
"What happened?" I look down at my shoes. "You don't have to tell me."
"No, I owe you an explanation," I say, shaking my head.
"You don't owe me anything," He puts his hand on my cheek.
"What did I do to deserve you?"
He smiles. "I ask myself that every time I see you,"
I smile and sigh. "Remember my sister,"
"Yeah,"
"Well, she told my mom about you and me."
"But wasn't she dating Peter?"
"Yeah, that's what I was thinking but Cally told my mom that you were using me."
"She lied,"
"Yeah,"
"Does your mom know?"
"No,"
"Well, you got to go tell her. She's probably worried about you."
"I don't think it's a good idea."
"Why? Cally was lying and she'd probably understand."
"No, she wouldn't understand."
"Fiona, come one. You don't know that." he holds my hand.
"Ash, it's not a good idea.," I'm about to cry and I need him to stop asking. I tug my hand out of his. I turn away from him.
"Fiona," he tries to touch my arm. I pull away. "Don't shut me out." I don't answer. "Why is it not a good idea? Fiona?"
"Because she hates me!" The tears stream down my face. I turn to him. He's confused. He takes my hand.
"Fiona, calm down. Why would she hate you?"
"Because she called me a slut."
"What?"
"She called me-"
"What? What? Why the hell would she say that? That's so fucked up!" I don't think I've ever heard him curse. "I'm sorry," he pulls me into his arms.
"It's not your fault,"
"Still, I'm sorry." He turns my head so we are looking into each other's eyes. He wipes the tears from my cheeks. "You're beautiful and if your mom can't tell, then just know that I can."
"I love you."
