Finnian looked up to his father for a very long time, but his father often pushed Finnian passed his limits.
The day before his father died, Finnian had failed to complete a task that was nearly impossible for a child of his age (being 11). His father had called him "gan fiúntas" meaning without merit, or worthless. The day after the news arrived that his father was dead. This left Finnian eternally scarred, feeling like a failure to his father.
