North Korea's POV:
It was the weekend, which means two more weeks for school to end. But that also means one more week for Taiwan to get out of prison.... I'm not too worry. I have been working out more than usual so I can be stronger. I just want to be ready for anything.
Today however, Canada invited me and South Korea to hang out at their house. When South and I got to their house, South instantly went to America to have another round of a video game. That left Canada and I to chat. Australia and New Zealand would come and talk to us.
"Australia! Sweety its time to go to the doctor's appointment," I heard France yell from the first floor. Australia ran out of America's room and to his mom downstairs. "We'll be back soon!" France said before I heard the door close. We weren't alone since Britain was still here. Probably to take care of New Zealand.
America and South Korea stopped playing their game after a while. Right now we are all chatting about random topics. "Do you guys want to play with me outside?" I heard New Zealand's cheerful voice at the door of the room. We all looked at her. "Yes of course we can," Canada said with a smile to his younger sister. "Some fresh air should do us some good," my brother said. I nodded and so did America.
We all got up and followed the young country. "Wait let me tell Dad that we are going to the backyard," America said before going to the living room where Britain was at. We all said ok and went outside. New Zealand quickly started playing tag with Canada and South Korea. I just watched them run around chasing each other like little kids, well New Zealand is a kid. I noticed that Canada and South are running a little slower to give New Zealand more of a chance.
Seeing this reminded me of when South and I were younger. When we played with our dad. Dad was very fast and agile but he would always go easy on us since we wouldn't stand a chance against him at any running game. That's one of the many great memories I have of my father. I let out sighed and looked at the game of tag that was still continuing.
We were out here for about 5 minutes, but America isn't still here. He said he was only going to tell his father that we were going to be outside which shouldn't take more than a few seconds. Now I feel worried for the American.
I got up and headed to their house. "Where are you going North?" asked Canada. "I'm just going to check on something, I'll be back soon don't worry," I responded before going inside.
I walked to the living room but didn't see either Britain or America. Odd, I thought that they were supposed to be here. I shrugged the thought away. Then I heard some noises from the kitchen, or more like voices. I started following the voices until I was in front of the kitchen. I stood behind one of the walls so that they don't see me yet, I want to know what's going with my own eyes before asking them.
I saw Britain sitting on a chair looking very angry and America had his head hanged down. America said, "Dad I'm sorry fo-" America got interrupted by Britain who spat, "don't. Call. Me. Dad." I was shocked at the scene, I never thought I would witness such a thing. I don't even know what America did to make Britain angry so I'm going to keep watching.
"Sorry..... father," America said his voice sounding a little shaky. "You embarrass me son, why can't you be more like Canada, or Australia, even New Zealand," Britain started again with his poisonous words. Now I'm really confused, what's going on? Why is Britain so angry at poor America?
"You don't have good grades like New Zealand, you aren't lively like Australia, or as obedient as Canada," Britain stated. Why is he saying those things to America? I feel that I should interfere now, but I want to know what's the problem that caused this.
"Da-... I mean father, I'm really am trying, it's just school is hard and my grades aren't that bad either," America said. So this is about grades. But then why is Britain making such a big fuss over it? I just noticed the report card on the table. I also noticed something else. Is that beer? Is Britain drunk right now? He seems sober enough, but the alcohol could still interfere his thoughts. I should know from experience I have while living with USSR. This could make him have less control on his feelings which might be the reason he's lashing out at America right now, even though they aren't screaming.
"Those are just worthless excuses, maybe if you didn't play video games so much with bad friends, you could have better grades," Britain said as he took a small sip of the beer. Is he saying that South and I are bad friends to him? "But father, Canada is also friends with a few of mine," America defended himself.
"Yeah he's friends, but only with the few ok ones," Britain remarked, "most of them are bad influence especially Russia." America didn't react much but his fists were clenched tight. "Is this the reason why you aren't letting me go to summer camp, to say this lecture," America said. Ok, so from what I just gathered, America not only told Britain that we were outside but asked permission to go to summer camp, which Britain didn't let him for his grades, and he blame that on his friends "bad influences". But why didn't America ask France when she comes back? Unless the paper needed signatures from both parents. But why is Britain making this like a big deal? Sure America's grades aren't A+ but were still pretty good. He doesn't have anything less than a C+ which is a passing grade. So again, why is he so angry at America?
My thoughts were cut off when Britain said, "I'm saying this lecture because I want you to remember that you are a worthless mistake!" America flinched at Britain's cruel words. "And don't think I don't know about you and that communist relationship," Britain spat. Britain is referring to America and Russia's relationship. I feel worried as well as angry at Britain.
"You aren't my son no more, I ain't raising a (insert no no word)" Britain said. "But dad-"
Slap
Everything became silent. It seems like time as stopped. Britain was up scowling angrily at America. America was looking to the side, his glasses on the floor due to the impact of Britain's slap. America's right cheek started to turn red from the impact. I was frozen in place, I couldn't believe what just happened. I didn't thought Britain would actually go as low as hitting America.
What snapped me back to reality was when Britain said, "cover your disgusting eyes, worthless mistake." That made me angry. How dare Britain say that to America. Why is he so angry with him, but he crossed the line. I stormed inside and was protectively in front of America.
"N-North" America's broken voice was heard behind me. "This is not any of your concern young man," Britain said with a cold voice. Now that I'm closer, I can smell the alcohol from him. It isn't strong, like how Soviet use to reek of, but still noticeable. "This is my concern of you are abusing my friend, sir," I said with an equal cold voice.
"Abusing him, please, I'm only stating the truth," Britain laughed cold heartily. I growl lowly. America whimpered behind me. "What you're saying is not true at all Britain," I said. I glanced at America who was shivering and had tears running down his cheeks.
I took a deep breath before continuing, " America isn't what you say he is, America is funny, strong, smart, a good friend, and his eyes are amazing not disgusting unlike your words." Britain looked enraged by my words.
He started to walk closer to me. I felt America stiffen behind me. I knew what he was going to do but I won't shy away from him, instead I looked at him straight in the eyes with anger boiling inside of me. Britain raised his hand, I prepared myself for the impact but Canada rushed right in.
"Dad stop!" Canada exclaimed. He got in between us. Britain's eyes widen. "Canada aren't you supposed to be with New Zealand?" Britain said with a bit of shock. "South's with her, but why are you doing this to them," Canada said pointing at us. "I... I n-needed to show them their places," Britain quickly stated. "But why do you do this?" cried Canada. "Because America is a mistake!" Britain replied. "Why would you say that?" Canada cried out, tears on the corners of his eyes.
"Because if it wasn't for him, his mother would still be alive!" Britain yelled out. Everyone became quiet and shocked after that. The only sounds were the sniffles from America and the heavy breathing from Britain. Soon Britain collapsed on the floor sobbing. America also cried out. I was holding America in my arms as he cried. Canada was on the floor with Britain, comforting him.
After they both calmed down a bit we took them to the living room. Canada prepared some tea and I was comforting the shaking America as he sobbed more in my shoulder. I rubbed circles in his back in a soothing manner.
Canada emerged from the kitchen with two cups of tea on each hand. He gave one to Britain and the other one to America who is now sniffling a little. Canada sat next to his father. It was all quiet until Canada broke the silent, "What happened to my brother's mom?"
For a moment Britain was silent, sipping his tea. "It was a long time ago," Britain started with a sad voice, "Native America was pregnant, she was soo happy when she heard the news. We were going to have twins, Confederate and America. But Native America lost Confederate during her pregnancy and she was soo sad, cried every night that would break my heart. She got sick as well, and was too weak during the labor. She died while giving birth. My heart was broken, shattered. I blame America for her death, if she wasn't pregnant then she would still be alive."
Britain had fat tears streaming down his face when he finished his story. America looked at his father with an unreadable expression. "I never knew," America whispered. His eyes gathered more tears. I felt bad for America and Britain, but what Britain did was bad even if he was heartbroken.
We heard the door opened and everyone looked to see who had come. France came in looking shock and Australia was looking at us worriedly as well. "What happened?" France asked while walking in front of us. Worry can be seen in her eyes.
Canada explained to his mom what had occurred and I took Australia outside with his sister. South looked at and asked, "what happened? Why didn't you guys come back?" I sighed and said, "something happened and it would be best if I told you later." South nodded and we went back into taking care of the kids.
