Chapter two:
Glass Sheet Reflections
*:.. o ..:*

Eyes slowly fluttering open, Taehyung still found himself in a daze from the events that had occurred the previous night. The first thing he'd been introduced to the was the blinding brightness around him.

Did he forget to close the blinds last night?

As Taehyung was slowly brought back to his senses, he began to notice other odd things too. Like the continuous buzzing of an engine running, the rattling of metal and the sound of faint static coming from what he perceived a radio.

"Damn. We're out of range."

All of a sudden, Taehyung was thrown up from where he lay, landing back down with a hard thud. It was only then that the male fully recovered his senses. Upon recognition of his surroundings and the person beside him, Taehyung lost it.

"WHAT THE FUCK!?"

"Oh hey, Tae! Sorry if that bump woke you up. They haven't been maintaining the roads in these areas for quite a long time now. Better buckle up."the male said, turning towards Tae and flashing him a smile. "The rides going to get pretty bumpy from here."

Stating so the car hit another bump, resulting in the male facing forward and focusing on the road instead.

"No no no." Tae said, letting out an exasperated laughed. "That's not the problem here buddy. It's the fact that I'm here without even knowing how."

The conversation suddenly taking a darker turn, the male at the wheel let out a sigh. "Tae. You know more than anyone else that what happened last night wasn't just an accident."

"But Joon, I-"

"I've been warning you for the past week that things were going to get worse. You didn't listen." Rolling his shoulders in a way to relax his muscles, the male continued. "I had to take some sort of action."

"I get where you're coming from, bud. But still! That doesn't mean you carry me away from home without my notice!" Taehyung scoffed in disbelief.

"I'm sorry about that."

"And what about my job? My house? My clothes? My money!?"

"You work for four hours at a bar, from 9:00 to 1:00 on weekends. You don't have any other job besides that. And by 'house', do you really mean that that shack of a place was something you could call home? You barely have any clothes besides your evening suits for your work. Took me less than an hour to get everything packed and into the back of my truck. And MONEY!? Tae you sure you want to be worried about that? You barely even had enough to sustain yourself!"

"Okay, so maybe I didn't have the perfect life-"

"Not even close."

"But at least I was happy!"

At this, Namjoon let out a chuckle, still facing the road. "Oh trust me. You're going to love where I'm taking you."

"I doubt that." Taehyung said with a scoff, looking away from the male.

"Look. I get how you feel. But pouting isn't going to change anything. So just get yourself together and cheer up! Take in the scenery, admire the beauty of the sky. Remember that nature's beauty is one so-"

"Alright! Alright! I'll stop. Just- don't get philosophical on me." Taehyung exclaimed, his hands held up in surrender. Taking note of the older's advice, Tae contemplated opening the window. Letting out a sigh of defeat and cranking the window down, the male was met with a sudden gush of wind.

But... Something about it felt nice. Not dusty or stuffy like he'd been inside the car not too long ago.

A small smile creeped up Namjoon's face, as he looked forward and concentrated on the road, trying his best not to take a wrong turn. Something about the younger male's silence told him that he was going to fall in love with the place he was taking him.

Orange leaves dusted the surface of the trees, in contrast to the lush green grass below. Great oaks covered the vicinity of the area, the dead leaves falling from above.

Namjoon slowed down the pace of the truck, giving Tae more time to be entranced by the beauty of the place.

"We'll be there in about ten minutes." The older said, smiling fondly at Taehyung who marveled at the trees with a childlike innocence.

In all honesty, the male wasn't looking forward to live in a new environment one bit. But the beauty that enclosed the area had managed to enthrall his every being. Pearl white clouds travelled the vast expanse of blue overhead, forming shapes that tingled his imagination.

"A saxophone!" Taehyung yelled out, pointing to a cloud that oddly seemed to take the shape of the instrument he'd mentioned.

The sun shone preferably bright, dusting the male's cheeks with a soft golden glow. It felt warm and filled his heart with so much joy, he couldn't help but smile. A mild breeze brewed up, causing the fallen leaves to dance on the grass covered forest floor. An orange oak leaf landed on Taehyung's nose, the male gasping and quickly grabbing it before it could fall off.

"Who woulda thought oak leaves found me attractive.?" Taehyung remarked, winking at the next oak tree they passed.

"I'm naming you Orange, you naughty little leaf." The male said, stuffing it into his pocket and going back to viewing the outside. Within a close proximity, he could see a small town. It felt like he was in a fairytale just then. Cobblestone streets and small cottage homes with red painted roofs.

"Is that the place?" He asked Joon, bringing his head back into the vehicle.

"Yeah." Namjoon said smiling, driving past the town gate.

As they drove on, Taehyung noticed something that seemed to be oddly out of place. "What's that?" He asked, pointing to a stone structure in the middle of the town square.

"Oh that." Namjoon muttered, pulling the car to a stop. "Want to go check it out?"

The two got out of the car and approached the stone structure. It had a staircase, leading up to a glass sheet that fit the size of a full length mirror.

"There's this old myth in town. They say that when you look into that mirror, you see the reflection of the one you're fated with or something."

"It's a long glass sheet, Namjoon. Not a mirror."

"Well if you're so sure, why don't you go check it out?" Namjoon asked.

Of course, he meant it in a way of a joke and didn't expect Taehyung to actually go up there. The whole myth in itself was a joke that he and his friend had cooked up as kids and used to tell tourists when they came around.

Taehyung walked up, not believing what Joon had told one bit. But still being curious as he was, he closed his eyes and stood before the glass sheet. Slowly opening them, and to his great disbelief,  he saw a reflection. One that wasn't his own. He couldn't believe that Joon was right!

There, before him, stood a male dressed in a plain white tee and plaid 'comfy pants', as the male would call it. Something about the way he stood was slack and relaxed yet he didn't seem to come of as the laid back type. The male possessed a pair of low set eyebrows, fitting greatly with the dark brown doe eyes. Taehyung swore he felt his stomach do a flip when the side of the male's lip twitched a little.

The male had never thought of himself as the type to be overwhelmed by someone with such a physique. And though he knew that what he saw before him was just a reflection, he couldn't help but feel that the person before him was there on the other side of the glass. Flesh and blood and all. Just seconds before he reached out to check the other-

"Tae! We've got to get going!" Namjoon called out from below. Taking one last glance at the reflection before him, Tae turned around and rushed down.

"Saw someone?"

"Yeah..." The male replied lost in his own trail of thoughts.

Knitting his eyebrows together, Namjoon looked towards the stone tower, quite amazed that he had actually seen something.

'Oh well. Tae is the one who went up there.' he thought to himself.  'He'd see anything he wants to even if it isn't there.' With that affirmation, he climbed back into the vehicle and drove off.
