Chapter nine:
Advice from a psychic friend
☆*:.。. o .。.:*☆
"Joonie!" Taehyung called out as he approached the other. One hand tucked away in his pocket and the other raised, he waved at the male.
"Taehyung!" The male called back, a smile spreading across his face. "How've things been?"
"Okay, I guess." He said with a half-forced smile recalling the incident that took place just a few minutes back.
"Hey." Namjoon said, once the male was next to him. "Wanna go for a ride?" He asked gesturing towards his truck.
"Oh hell yeah." Taehyung replied, at once climbing on to the passenger seat.
The sun was beginning to set and the sky had been coloured a mix of pink and orange. The air was going crisp due to the approaching winter. Taehyung drew a breath, inhaling the crisp air.
"Is everything really okay?" Namjoon asked once again.
Trust Namjoon and his amazing telepathic skills to figure out something was wrong. Taehyung really couldn't keep anything from him. He just seemed to know everything. He was like some sort of psychic.
"Not really, no." Taehyung responded, chuckling nervously.
"Wanna talk about it?"
"It's- it's just that. Okay." Taking in a deep breath the male began. "Jungkook. He's... He's way too controlling. Like, how do I put this?"
Pausing to find the right words he continues. "He hasn't yet given me the keys and like leaves me alone at home. For the entire day! I've got nothing to do so I decided to take a little walk around town. But apparently he won't allow even that!"
"Well that's not so fair."
"Exactly!" Taehyung exclaims, "Like, apparently Jiminie made cinnamon rolls for me."
"Jiminie did?"
"Yes. So like, since they were amazing and oh my God so wonderful, I wanted to know the person who made them. So I went out on a search."
Ruffling his hair in frustration, Taehyung continued. "I found the place and like, everything was going fine but then-"
"Jungkook just had to butt in and interfere." Namjoon said, completing his sentence for him.
"Yes! And I know I did wrong but he shouldn't have overreacted like that. He even slapped me." The younger male whined sadly rubbing his cheek. "There are nicer ways to say things... It's not like anything happened anyway."
"Forgive him, 'kay?" Namjoon asked, turning to smile at the younger.
They had driven for quite a while and by now the town was far behind.
"But I don't want to." Taehyung whined. "It's not like it's my fault. He's the one at fault here. He never gave me a key in the first place. If anything, he should be the one apologizing to me."
"Tae. You have to-"
"Am I wrong though, Joon? It really wasn't like I did something so bad." Taehyung said, his tone rising as the frustration within him began to grow. "It's always me on the apologizing side anyway. Why can't he be he one to do it this time? I mean, maybe we're both at fault but I'll apologize only after he does. It's by no means fair to me."
Having spoken his mind, the younger decided to pout the rest of the ride. Releasing a sigh, Namjoon shook his head. There was no convincing him now that he'd gone into pout mode.
Not sharing another word, the two continued with their ride.
-
A good two hours later they were back, Namjoon surprised that Taehyung had actually managed to stay quite for more than an hour.
"Hey." Taehyung finally said once the vehicle came to a stop.
"Yeah?"
"How about I don't go back in?" He suggested. "Like, just for tonight."
Chuckling at the male's attitude, Namjoon shook his head. "Sorry Tae. That's where you live now."
"But I don't wanna go back in there. The dude probably still thinks he's done nothing wrong."
"Tae." The older said calmly, looking at him dead in the eyes. "You were both at fault. He had every right to get mad at you, just as much as you do."
"Yes. I know." Tae said, still not moving from his seat. "But it's not like anything would happen anyway. This town's basically harmless."
"Only this town though."
"What do you mean?"
Shifting in his seat, the male sat so that the two were directly facing each other now. "Well you see... During the weekends, teenagers from the city come by around these places. Camping, road trip, you know... The crazy stuff they do."
"And you're saying this because?" He asked, not seeing the point behind what he was trying to say.
"You know how teenagers have this contorted idea of fun where they just go around damaging stuff?"
Oh... Oh. OH.
Taehyung understood now.
"He was worried about that?"
"Happens a lot around town. Especially when the front door's left wide open." Namjoon said with a shrug. "That adrenaline rush always gets the best of them."
Taehyung didn't know what to say. He really didn't. He felt awful.
"I know Kook shouldn't have done what he did." The older male said, going back to his original position. "But he was worried. Both for the store and for you."
No. This was supposed to be his fault. Jungkook was supposed to be the one apologizing. So then why was he feeling like shit?
"Go talk to him." Namjoon said, flashing the other a reassuring smile. "Trust me. The one thing that the two of you lack is communication."
Pulling the older into a bone-crushing hug, the male stepped out of the vehicle.
"You going to be in town tonight?"
"Yep." Namjoon said with a nod. "Got myself a room in the town hall."
"See ya tomorrow then."
And with that, Taehyung turned heels and dashed inside.
"Oh Tae. How I wish I could tell you the entire truth." Namjoon said to himself, watching the retreating back of the male.
With that he turned on the engine and drove off. Tonight was going to be one heck of a long night.
-
Cautiously, Taehyung made his way up the stairs. He made sure to lock the entrance so that no one would enter. The floorboards creaked beneath his feet making him cuss mentally. The one time he wanted to be as quiet as a mouse.
Entering the studio apartment above the store, Taehyung looked around. All the lights had been switched off except for the lamp next to his bed. Well, technically a folding couch but Taehyung preferred calling it his bed.
Removing his combats, the male snuggled into his sheets. Yes, Joon had asked him to talk to the male. But now really wasn't a good time. There was an unspoken rule in this house and that said no noise after lights out.
Taehyung snuggled himself in his bed, pulling the sheets over him. Just then, he heard a soft jingle. Knitting his eyebrows in confusion, he tugged at his sheet again.
Jingle~
Confused the male sat up and began patting around his sheets. As he was doing so, his hands brushed past something cold. Finding the source of the sound, the male brought it close to the lamp.
Keys.
A pair of keys.
A pair of beautiful golden keys.
The most beautiful pair of keys he'd ever laid eyes upon.
Oh my God! Was this his way of apologizing? If this was then Taehyung felt shittier than he'd already been feeling. He continued staring at the pair of keys, awe-struck.
As he was admiring the keys, he heard the floorboards on the stairs creak. Was Jungkook still awake?
Not having the courage to talk to him just then he dove under the sheets, pretending to be asleep. He prayed the younger wouldn't catch on and would just pass by.
The younger walked up the stairs and Taehyung could feel his presence approaching him.
Shit! He forgot to swicth off the lamp!
'Okay calm down.' he mentally scolded himself. 'It's perfectly normal to sleep with the lights switched on. Calm down. Concentrate on sleeping.'
"How many times do I have to keep telling this idiot to sleep with the lights off?" He heard the other grumble, walking up to the lamp.
Well of course! Jungkook would never miss the chance to make snarky remarks against him. Everything just had to tick him off.
He expected the male to simply switch off the lamp and go to his room. But no. He stopped. He stopped beside his bed. Jeon Jungkook freaking stopped beside his bed.
"If you're planning on acting at least do it properly."
