Chapter fifteen:
Surrounded by Idiots
☆*:.。. o .。.:*☆
The next two days Taehyung spent staring in au-struck wonder at the petite male by the counter. While it was expected that he'd be helping Yoongi in the kitchen, the male had been chased out for confusing sugar with salt, resulting in a very very salty batch of cookies. And though he was embarrassed, he could not have been any more grateful for his lack in the field of cooking. For this very lack gave him more chances to spend time with Jimin. He would simply sit next to the beautiful male; That alone was enough to make his tummy do flip-flops. He had been having so much fun these past two days...
So then why the fuck was he stuck at Yoongi's place when the two were at the bakery!?
Ah yes. Because Kim Taehyung was a fucking idiot and had settled on staying back instead. And why was that?
No, it was not because he was under threat.
No, it was not he was a menace to Yoongi.
No, it was not because he creeped Jimin out.
So then what was it?
His lazy ass didn't wake up on time.
Despite the death threats and cusses sent his way as Yoongi had tried to wake him up, Taehyung remained passed out. Why? Cause he'd spent the entire night wallowing in his self-made agony of having to go back to living with Jungkook. Oh, that male always knew just how to ruin his life.
"Just... Keep yourself occupied for the time being. Jiminie and I will be back for lunch."
Taehyung sighed recalling what Yoongi had said when he called him a while ago, thinking of ways to spend the next two hours before they got back. The thought of playing Dahla not being amusing enough and packing his bags completely out of the picture, Taehyung settled for a phone call.
A phone call to whom exactly?
Well-
"Why do you have to keep ruining my life?"
"Good morning to you too, Tae."
"Seriously though, everything was going perfect." Taehyung continued, completely ignoring the male's greeting. "And then you just had to stay on my mind till 4 in the morning."
"So now it's my fault for keeping you up all night?"
Taehyung scrunched his nose in disgust. "Don't say it like that. Sounds wrong."
The younger simply chuckled on the other end, this aggravating Taehyung even more.
"Well if it weren't for you, I'd be sitting next to Jimin at this very moment." Taehyung said with a pout. And though Jungkook couldn't see it, he could tell it was there. Just the thought of it made the male yearn to see it.
And that's because Taehyung looked weird and ugly and just overall disturbing while pouting - this giving room for Jungkook to tease.
It was definitely not because he found it cute or anything.
Definitely.
"Taehyung." Jungkook started, his tone suddenly taking a serious note to which Taehyung stiffened up. "You're telling me that while you had 'n' number of opportunities to have a decent conversation with him, you stayed quiet and still?"
Yes. Jeon Jungkook knew of Taehyung's 'tiny' crush on his friend. This resulted from a long long conversation they'd had the day Taehyung had received his phone.
"W-Well, it's not like I could talk to him." Taehyung stuttered out, visibly flustered.
"Fucking- the boy can still see."
"Huh?"
Heaving a loud sigh, Jungkook clicked his tongue. "Tae, Jimin's not illiterate. He knows how to fucking read and write."
"NO!" Taehyung yelled, adding more to Jungkook's frustration.
"I mean simple conversations, Tae. Not God-damn love letters." Jungkook said with a sigh, having grown accustomed to Tae and his habit of blurting nonsense while flustered.
"O-Oh." Taehyung replied, a blush rising to his cheeks simply at the thought of it. "I-I guess I could do that."
"Sometimes I question the fact that you're two years older." Jungkook said with a sigh.
Taehyung was about to retaliate when Jungkook interrupted him. "Honestly though, unless you make a move nothing's going to happen."
"I know..." Taehyung said, shoulders sulking.
Silence settled between the two, neither of them knowing how to continue the conversation but still not having the heart to end the call.
"Anyway," Taehyung begun. "Didn't you say you were meeting another buyer today?"
"Yeah." The younger replied. "I'm actually waiting for Namjoon right now. Male ripped his dress pants and had to go get new ones."
"Oh, that reminds me."
"Hm?"
"Don't you dare rip my dress suit. I'm never lending them to you if you do." Taehyung warned, trying to sound as threatening as possible.
"Well, if it weren't for somebody spilling apple juice over my dress suit I wouldn't have had to borrow yours now would I?" Jungkook bit back.
"Come on. It was an honest mistake!"
"And that wouldn't have happened had you not been lying on my bed in my bedroom while I was busy making dinner." The male snapped. "Honestly though, who drinks apple juice while lying down? No, scratch that. Who the fuck drinks anything lying down?"
"I said I was sorry! I already suffered enough trying to get all that juice out of my nose." Taehyung protested, trying his best to defend himself.
"Yeah." Jungkook said with a sigh, and Taehyung swore he could see the male smirking while saying that.
"Anyway." The male continued after a pause. "I can see Joon approaching so gotta go."
"No." Taehyung whined. "I've got nothing to do."
"Well, that ain't my problem."
"Come on, Kook. Please." Taehyung begged, not wanting to be left to himself. "Just until you get to where the buyer is."
Sighing, the younger male gave in. "Sure. But just so you know, the place is like fifteen minutes away."
"Oh that's fine."
Even if it were just this short amount of time, Taehyung wanted company. The feeling of being to himself had never been one he'd enjoyed.
-
"Kim Taehyung could you shut the fuck up for one second."
Taehyung was offended. Correction, he was very very offended. The male had been narrating a sob story about how he developed a fear for donkeys― this incident involving a braying donkey charging towards him at lightning speed at the tender age of five― but apparently, the male wasn't interested. And why? Because he couldn't find their buyer's home.
The two males on the other end of the line began muttering addresses that Taehyung had no clue of. Slowly, the muttering resulted in Jungkook scolding the shit out of Joon for taking the wrong turn. Once the situation had been dealt with, Jeon Jungkook shifted his attention back to an upset Tae.
"Yeah, sorry bout that." He apologized. "Continue where you left off."
"Why?" Taehyung asked, not feeling like narrating his story anymore. Half the time, the male never even paid attention to what he spoke. Why would he be wasting all this energy on someone who didn't even care?
"Okay then don't." Jungkook said plainly, this ticking him off even more.
"No, I will!" He exclaimed. "I'll talk so much it bores your brains out and you won't even be able to talk properly to your buyer 'cause you'll be so wrapped up in what I said!"
"Be my guest."
And thus began Kim Taehyung's rant on 'why he trusts spiders over lizards to do their jobs', lasting up until the time they made it to their buyer's place.
-
"Thank you very much for your support, Sir." Jungkook said with a bow.
Gathering all the required documents that had been sprawled across the table, Namjoon and Jungkook exited the place. The purchase had been successful and they couldn't be happier.
"Never would've thought you could remain quiet for that long." Jungkook remarked as he got into the truck.
"Hey! For your kind information, I can be super still when I want to!" Taehyung protested.
Yes.
Kim Taehyung was still on call and had been so the entire time. Why was that so? Because the male was too stubborn to cut the call and had begged the other not to do so either.
While Jungkook found it absurd in the beginning, he ended up complying. The male needed to know about his work and stuff anyway. They were living together. What did he have to lose by keeping him in the dark about it?
"Would've been hella awkward if you started talking while we were there though." Jungkook commented. "And so-"
"Come on now, Kook. I am not so uncultured as to-"
"-I muted you."
Taehyung paused. Not for one, or two but for five whole fucking seconds.
The nerve!
"Jeon Jungkook! What right did you have to MUTE ME!?"
"I don't know." Jungkook said plainly. "Right to avoid embarrassment?"
"You know what?" Taehyung said huffing. "I'm done! I don't care if I'll be alone for the next ten minutes! It's better than to speak to you when you don't even listen to a word I say!"
"Cool."
In all honesty Jungkook was done too. Joon and he had to go have lunch but they were being held up because a certain someone wouldn't shut up.
"COOL!?"
"Here we go again." Jungkook muttered to himself, releasing a sigh and rolling his eyes. The older practically lived on drama.
"I confront you about you ignoring me and putting me as secondary and you reply with cool!?"
Taehyung was furious. How dare he? There was nothing, absolutely nothing, that could get him to calm down at that point cause―
"I'm sorry, Tae. It was all my fault. I take back everything I said and will start listening to whatever you have to say." Jungkook said dryly, obviously not meaning a single thing.
"O-oh..."
'Idiot.'
"W-Well if you're that sorry then I guess I'll have to be the bigger one here and forgive you huh?"
'Correction, fucking idiot.'
"What can I say though? I've always had a big heart. Don't worry Kook. All's forgiven." Taehyung said, voice going cheery once again.
"Wow. Forgiving me just like that. How nice of you." Jungkook said in a monotonous voice, smile forcing its way out when he heard Taehyung giggle at the fake compliment.
"Anyway, I gotta go eat so... Call you later?"
"Sure thing!"
With that Jungkook ended the call, turning to Joon to inform him that they could go in.
"Finally ended the call huh?" The male said with a knowing look.
'Idiot.'
Muttering a string of curse words he made his way toward the restaurant, a laughing Namjoon following close at hand.
Honestly. Jeon Jungkook was surrounded by far too many idiots.
