Chapter eight:
That Cresent-eyed Smile

'Cozy Cookies'

After days and days of endless research and fieldwork, Taehyung had finally managed to find the place. It wasn't all that tough cause the town was so small to begin with. But that's not the story he'd be telling his grandkids.

"Hyperbole isn't the worst crime." He said with a shrug, taking a step into the bakery he presumed to be the home of his heavenly cinnamon rolls.

The scent that surrounded the bakery was ambrosial enough for Taehyung to confirm that this indeed was the place. Even the air tasted better than anything you'd get in those chain Cafe's in cities. Though no cinnamon rolls were on display, the freashly baked apple pies, white bloomers and iced Belgian buns stacked on the display cases looked ravishing all the same.

Somehow, the aroma captured everything good there: the filter coffee, the various cakes, the Danish pastries. This place, Taehyung would describe, was heaven on earth. He walked around the place, taking in every minute detail that went into decor. In his doing so, he stumbled upon someone.

Well of course, this paradise of heaven on earth would for sure include an angel. Sat behind the counter with the brightest smile, eyes resembling cresents and cheekbones raised, this Angel before him was breath-taking.

"Ubh- um... Hi." The male stuttered out, mentally face palming for the world's most embarrassing intro. 'Great going genius.' he mentally scolded himself.

The other male simple sat there smiling, but not a word left his lips.

"Uh... Do-Do you know any Jimmie?" Taehyung asked, bringing his hand up to cover his growing blush.

The male with the angelic smile tilted his head, smiling awkwardly in confusion.

"J-Jiminie." He corrected himself, saying it more clearly this time.

The male nodded his head vigorously, his cresent-eyed smile returning. He then moved to point at himself.

Sure Taehyung had thought of so many scenarios earlier that day that would make this break the best thing ever ― he'd presumed it to be those cinnamon rolls. But who would've thought that the one who baked them would be the best scenario he'd never even imagined.

"A-Ah! So it was you!" Taehyung said, the joy bubbling inside not failing to make him stutter. "W-Well like, I just wanted to say thank you. I mean, I was bored and thought I'd look for your place and no, I didn't stalk you but like I just wanted to see the place where those were baked and like... I dunno. But I sure am happy with the result. Ah! By that I mean like-" The male continued talking, not really making much sense.

Just then, the connecting door behind the counter swung open. A pale, petite male emerged from within holding a tray filled with his oh so beloved Cinnamon Rolls.

"Oh. Hey there." The male said, approaching the other and placing the tray close to the counter.

"H-Hi." Taehyung said with a shrug.

"Sorry I wasn't up front." The pale man said, approaching the other. "I had to complete this last minute batch since this morning's batch was bought by a friend of mine."

"Ah! N-No trouble at all!" Taehyung said with a shy shrug. He was still trying to get over the fact that he had so embarrassingly been blabbering at the angellic male. "H-He kept me entertained." He said pointing at the Jiminie.

"Jiminie?" He said, knitting his eyebrows.

"Y-Yes." He said. "Not much of a talker though."

Hearing this the male before him scoffed. "Go figure."

Seeing the look of confusion in Taehyung's face the male came to the realization that he didn't know.

"Ah. Sorry. I thought you were making fun of him." He said with an apologetic look, rubbing the back of his neck.

"N-Not.. No! I'd never!"

"I presumed everyone in this town knew." Then eyeing the other he continued. "You new here?"

"Y-Yes. I-I'm living with J-Jungkook."

"So you're the one!" The male suddenly said, his voice taking a lighter tone. "Joon told me about you. And Kook came by this morning to get rolls for you. Bought the entire morning batch, that kid."

"Uh... You're mistaken." Taehyung said shaking his head. "They were a gift from Jiminie. Jungkook would never do something like that."

"If that's how it is." He said with a shrug. "Ah. Min Yoongi. Park Jimin." The male said, using his hands to gesture as he introduced themselves.

"N-Nuff. Nuff. Nice." Taehyung stuttered out. Oh my gosh! He wanted to kill himself! Why was he such a bumbling fool right then?

"Anyway, since you're new you probably don't know." Yoongi began, turning to face Jimin who still sat in the same spot behind the counter. "Minie's hard on hearing."

Bam! That line hit Taehyung like a truck. Wow! How stupid he must've seemed before. Oh how badly he wished for a hole to open up below him and swallow him whole.

"I-I didn't know he was..." Taehyung said, the blush in his cheeks slowly rising out of sheer and utter embarrassment.

"Don't worry." Yoongi said laughing it off. "Jiminie won't think anything about it."

Then turning to the said male, he reached up and ruffled his soft looking golden locks. "Ain't that right, Minie?"

Completely unaware of what the conversation was about, Jimin simply nuzzled into the older's hand.

"What brought you here though?" Yoongi asks.

"Ah. I just came here to thank him." Taehyung replied pointing at Jimin. "You know, for the rolls and all that. I- I also wanted to know who baked them."

"And you liked them?"

"Definitely!" Taehyung replied nodding vigorously. "Absolutely, Super Duper!"

"Glad you liked it." Yoongi began, then suddenly realising something he continued, "Ah! Jiminie would love to know that too!"

Then turning to the other, Yoongi signed something that Tae presumed to be along the lines of 'He's saying he wants to thank you.'

Upon seeing this, Jimin turned to Taehyung and flashed him a smile. He'd be lying if he said his heart didnt skip a beat at that.

"Thank you." Taehyung said, this time slowly so that the male would be able to read his lips clearly.

Jimin nodded happily, giggling a little as he did so. That was by far the cutest thing Taehyung had ever seen. The male was slowly losing himself in Jimin's smile when someone slapped him.

Hard.

Turning to the source in shock, he saw a very very pissed Jeon Jungkook.

"J-J-J-J-J-Jungkook!" He exclaimed, holding his very, very red and in pain, left cheek.

"OI!" The male yelled at him, his eyes burning in anger. "WHY THE FUCK WEREN'T YOU HOME!?"

"I-I-I-" Taehyung stuttered, too scared to even utter a word. But the sight of Jimin looking all confused from his peripheral vision caused the male to gain some courage. He didn't want to look weak in front of him. "So what if I wasn't home? There was nothing to do anyway."

"DON'T YOU DARE FUCKING USE THAT TONE WITH ME! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING LEAVING THE HOUSE UNGUARDED!?"

The nerve of the male!

"I HAD NOTHING TO DO! YOU JUST EXPECT ME TO SIT THERE AND BE OBEDIENT?" Taehyung yelled back, not seeing how this could've possibly been his fault.

"YES!"

"JEON JUNGKOOK! YOU ARE BEING COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE HERE! YOU COULDN'T HAVE POSSIBLY THOUGHT-'

"WHAT IF SOMEONE BROKE IN!? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?" Jungkook yelled, cutting him off.

"But no one did! Did they!?"

Jungkook simply continued glaring at him, not a single word leaving his lips. After a while of glaring him down, the male decided to speak. "Go back. Joon's here."

Hearing that, Taehyung's eyes widened. It'd been a week since the last visit Joon had made.

"W-Where is he?" Taehyung asked, now slightly calmed down but still awkward to talk to the other.

"Home. Go." Jungkook said, not once looking into his eyes. "He's waiting there."

Not sure of what else to do, Taehyung awkwardly turned to Yoongi and Jimin who had been there the entire time. Slightly bowing down, he turned and left the store.
