Chapter 4

The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the city as Y/N L/N made his way to the hotel’s rooftop pool. It was the day before the next NXT show, and the wrestlers were taking advantage of the downtime to relax and unwind. The hotel, a favorite spot for the NXT roster when they were in town, offered a luxurious pool area with stunning views of the city skyline. It was the perfect place to kick back before the intensity of the next night’s event.

As Y/N stepped out onto the pool deck, he spotted several familiar faces already lounging around. JD McDonagh was reclined in a chair, his usual intensity replaced with a rare look of relaxation as he soaked up the sun. To the side, Nathan Frazer was chatting animatedly with Roxanne Perez, who was dangling her feet in the water.

Y/N scanned the area until his eyes landed on Jazmyn Nyx. She was seated at the edge of the pool, her legs submerged in the cool water, looking as relaxed as he’d ever seen her. She was wearing a simple, stylish black swimsuit, and her hair was pulled back into a messy bun, giving her an effortlessly laid-back vibe. She glanced up as he approached, and her face lit up with a welcoming smile.

“Hey, Y/N!” Jazmyn called out, waving him over. “I was wondering when you’d show up.”

Y/N grinned as he dropped his towel on a nearby chair and walked over to her. “Couldn’t miss out on a chance to relax. Plus, this place is amazing.”

Jazmyn nodded, her eyes twinkling with the sunlight reflecting off the water. “It really is. I’m just trying to soak in as much of this as possible before we get back to the grind tomorrow.”

Y/N sat down next to her, dipping his feet into the pool. The water was refreshing against the warmth of the day, and he let out a contented sigh. “Same here. It’s nice to just… be, you know? No pressure, no stress.”

They sat in companionable silence for a few moments, enjoying the tranquility of the setting. The sounds of soft laughter and splashing water filled the air, creating a relaxing atmosphere that was a stark contrast to the usual intensity of their lives as wrestlers.

After a while, Nathan and Roxanne made their way over, still engaged in their lively conversation. Nathan, ever the joker, splashed some water at Y/N as they approached. “Hey, don’t look too relaxed over there, Y/N. We still need you in one piece for tomorrow’s show.”

Y/N chuckled, playfully splashing back at Nathan. “Don’t worry, I’ll be ready to go. Just getting my energy levels back up.”

Roxanne grinned, joining in on the fun. “This is probably the calmest I’ve ever seen you, Y/N. Usually, you’re always so intense.”

Y/N shrugged with a smile. “Gotta balance it out somehow. Plus, the company helps.”

Jazmyn gave him a playful nudge with her shoulder. “Is that your way of saying we’re good for your zen?”

“Absolutely,” Y/N replied with a laugh. “You all keep me grounded.”

As the group settled into a relaxed rhythm, the conversation flowed easily, touching on everything from favorite matches to travel stories from the road. The camaraderie was evident as they shared laughs and friendly banter, the bonds they had formed through their shared passion for wrestling deepening with each interaction.

JD eventually joined the group, his usual stoic demeanor softened by the laid-back atmosphere. He leaned against the edge of the pool, crossing his arms as he listened to the conversation with a hint of a smile on his face.

“This is nice,” JD said, his voice low and reflective. “I could get used to this kind of downtime.”

“Right?” Jazmyn agreed. “It’s not often we get to just hang out like this, without any pressure.”

Nathan, ever the joker, chimed in. “We should make this a regular thing. Pre-show pool days—gets everyone in the right headspace.”

The idea was met with enthusiastic nods, and the group continued to relax in the sun. Y/N found himself particularly enjoying the easy camaraderie between everyone, especially with Jazmyn by his side. There was something about the way she interacted with the group, her natural warmth and humor shining through, that made him feel even more connected to her.

As the afternoon wore on, the group gradually dispersed, some heading back to their rooms to rest before dinner, while others stayed by the pool to soak up the last rays of the day. Y/N and Jazmyn lingered a little longer, enjoying the peaceful moment.

Jazmyn stretched her legs out in front of her, leaning back on her hands as she gazed out at the city skyline. “This was a good day,” she said softly. “I needed this.”

Y/N glanced over at her, feeling a sense of contentment settle over him. “Yeah, me too. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this relaxed.”

Jazmyn turned her head to look at him, her expression thoughtful. “You know, I’m glad we’ve been able to spend more time together lately. It’s been nice getting to know you outside of the ring.”

Y/N nodded, feeling the same way. “I feel the same. It’s like we’ve got this whole other connection that goes beyond wrestling. I like it.”

A smile tugged at Jazmyn’s lips. “Me too. It’s been… easy, you know? Like we just get each other.”

The moment was quiet, but there was an undeniable undercurrent of something more—something that had been building between them ever since that first exchange of glances in the arena. Y/N felt it too, a pull towards Jazmyn that was growing stronger with each passing day.

Before the moment could stretch into something more profound, Jazmyn broke the silence with a light laugh. “We should probably head back. Don’t want to overdo it before the show tomorrow.”

“Yeah, you’re right,” Y/N agreed, though he was reluctant to leave the comfortable setting.

They stood up, drying off and gathering their things as they prepared to head back to their rooms. As they walked towards the elevator, Y/N couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. Tomorrow would bring another challenge in the ring, but for now, he was content with the way things were unfolding.

Just before they parted ways in the hallway, Jazmyn turned to him, her eyes shining with warmth. “Thanks for today, Y/N. It was fun.”

“Anytime,” Y/N replied, his voice sincere. “Let’s do it again soon.”

As Jazmyn walked away, Y/N watched her go, a small smile playing on his lips. There was something special about Jazmyn, something that made him want to explore whatever was growing between them. For now, though, he was happy to take it one step at a time, enjoying the easy connection they shared.

As he entered his room and closed the door behind him, Y/N couldn’t shake the feeling that tomorrow’s show would be even more intense, with Jazmyn in his corner both as a friend and maybe, just maybe, something more.
