Chapter 3- Visions

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

"I'm not forcing you to. It's not because it's your birthday, that means we have to do this."

"No...i-i want to."

Brooke seemed so sure on the outside, but was panicking inside. Oh mom is going to be so pissed.

"Why?" Kevin asked, holding her chin up.

"What?" Brooke said, gulping down. She couldn't believe she was going to go through this with him.

"You said your mom would be so pissed."

"Oh don't worry about that. Just go ahead and put it in. Let's just get this over with." She said in a rush.

"No, you should take your time okay. Enjoy every second of it. This is your first. Don't waste the moment." He whispered, and put it in, as I squealed.

"This does feel good." I laughed, and moved forward in line.

"Tickets please." The guard said, and Kevin took the ticket out of the de-magnetising machine that made sure the tickets were real, and handed them to the guard, who let them into the large hall.

"This isn't how I expected my first concert to be." Brooke admitted. "Don't take offense, but I always expected it to be with Justin. I mean, music is one of his passions Right?"

"The unexpected is always the best." He simply stated, as they moved forward to whoch ever seat they were being escorted to.

"I didn't have to lie to my mom though. I mean, sneaking off to a concert with my boyfriend. Heck I'm not even that big of a fan of The Vamps as she is. Something about reliving her youth." Brooke stated, slightly rolling her eyes.

"You know, if Justin was so intent on buying you concert tickets, why did it have to be this cheesy boy band? I mean aren't nine and twelve year olds drooling over their posters in their room? You're eighteen." Her boyfriend's comment made Brooke chuckle in amusement, as they slowly advanced.

The concert hall was packed, as well as stuffy, despite the air conditioners every five metres. They still had quite a long distance to walk to get to the fifth row, and conversation seemed to be the only way to make it seem faster.

"Wait. So you don't remember? I was having one of my phases again, this one was a boy band craze. We were fourteen, and I found out about The Vamps around then. Jesus! I went crazy. I would ramble about them all the darn time." A light, that hadn't emerged out of her eyes in a while shone at its brightest. Something. A memory, a feeling, was working it's way through her mind, lightening up her features, warming her heart at that moment.

Kevin noticed. He watched her intently with his gray eyes, not sure if he should smile or not. She's happy. Therefore, he couldn't decipher the reason why his stomach felt heavy.

"It rings a bell I think. You even wished to meet them on your birthday, if I recall."

"Exactly! When I turned fourteen, and the craze had just started, everything revolved around them. Like you said, I wished to meet them. Oh my goodness!" The blonde laughed, as her past played in her mind in a series of images. With a shaking head, her broad smile widened. "You were a realist from day one Kev! You told me that the chances of it happening were next to zero, because of their busy schedule and all that. Remember what Justin said?"

He couldn't share her happiness. Her hazel eyes looked up at his tall frame, urging him to remember. He was a realist from day one. He couldnt give her hope, but the cold reality. It shouldn't have bothered him so much, but it did. "He said, I'll make your wish come true. I think. It's not very clear."

Brooke giggled like a little girl, at the memory. So vivid and hopeful. "That's exactly what he said. You see, at the very end of the box, there was a piece of paper, a note from him. It said something about how he always keeps his promises, and like a genie, he granted my wish. Being him, he had to add some dumb pun about how genie and genius are alike, and that's why he managed to come to my aid. Lord help that boy." Brooke laughed.

"So basically, he remembered a birthday wish you made four years ago, and granted it." Justin's best friend noted. "He should get an award for the best friend, or in my case, brother anyone could ask for."

"I take personal offense in this."

"Why?"

"Um how can he get the award if it's already mine?"

"True." Kevin smiled, just in time for them to arrive at their positions. The escort showed them the way, and they settled in, with a grey view from the stage.

"When Justin told me he had been saving for a year, I thought he was joking. But clearly not! These seats are great!" The dark brown haired boy stated. As they patiently waited for the start of the phenomenal event, Brooke's giddiness vibrated through her whole being, as she let out unplanned loud laughters.

Her craze for the music band was long gone. But the love and appreciation she had for her childhood best friend, was too strong and vivid, to stay saddened longer than a couple of days. Her giddiness was a mixture of guilt, love, and excitement.

With trembling fingers intertwined in Kevin's hands, the lights went out, awaiting for a phenomenal memory, as the concert started.

Heart beating, palms sweating, and A headache storming in, Bethany paced back and forth in her home.

Dishes were washed, beds were made. Laundry was drying, floor was cleaned, everything set into perfection.

Apart from herself.

Bethany Meyers had always been in control. Her law firm rarely lost, her house was always in perfect shape. Her schedule was planned to the very last second. The only messed up thing in her life, was the reason she was pacing.

Brooke.

When it came to her daughter, everything was always in pieces. She guarded her daughter with her heart, and not her head like everything else.

She never pressured Brooke into anything, and never wanted to impose her in any situation she couldn't handle.

This was the reason why her daughter was the only mess in her life. She took care of the girl with her heart, rather than strategy and logic. She let her emotions get the best of her.

How could she not? Brooke was all she had left. She always made sure to be her happiest, to be the most positive and loyal daughter anyone could ask for, with her twinge of naughtiness. The naughtiness that could make everything better, or fall to pieces.

Bethany always had her "Fun mom" (as she called it) face on for Brooke. She needed her only daughter, her only fire, to live to the largest extent of her childhood as possible.

Soon she would be transported into a world of horror and despair. Bethany needed to keep her safe. Especially now. Especially when He was back out there.

Hence the storm building up inside of her. Partly anger, mostly fear.

Where is Brooke?

She kept asking herself. It was fifteen minutes to midnight, and she hadn't seen her since the morning. Coming home to find it empty, she had assumed Brooke had decided to spend the afternoon of her birthday with her friends.

As the hours ticked by, worry settled in, cruelly eating at her like poison.

"Pick up for God's sake!" She screamed at her phone, repeatedly hitting the call button.

She could be dead. I might have her.

The all too familiar deep agonising voice boomed in her head, releasing a gasp from Bethany' s small mouth, who started shaking. Shaking violently, as fragile as a thin leaf left alone in the brisk wind.

"Go to he-" Bethany began grumbling back to the voice, until-

"If my heart was paper I'd fold it! Through it through the wind and just hope it...ENDS UP WITH YOU!" The voice made Bethany Jump in fear.

"Quiet! You'll wake her up."

Bethany snapped her head towards the door, as it creaked open, hope and worry consuming over her being.

"But I loved that song!"

"Kevin shut up! If you don't quiet down my mo-" Brooke stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes wide.

"Your mom will beat the crap out of you?! Where the he- on earth have you been Brooke Anabelle Meyers?!" Bethany half shouted. "God you're so lucky you're too big to balance on my laps, or that cute little butt of yours would've ached for weeks."

The hazel big round eyes of Brooke stared at the floor, as she apologized to her mother, who seemed bewildered.

Kevin sat on the counter in the kitchen, watching the scene play out in front of him, which Bethany noticed, infuriating her even more.

"As for you young man, I've known you for fourteen years! Since you were barely able to construct a full sentence without giggling."

"I- I know Bethany."

"Its Mrs. Meyers young man." Bethany scolded, full of ice. She had never been cold to Justin and Kevin, whom she considered as her own sons. Which is why it was hard for her to say those words, as she saw pain and guilt flood up in her daughter's boyfriend's eyes.

"Mom Kevin had nothing to do with it. I dragged him down with me."

"Brooke," Bethany said, and opened her mouth to say other words, which she knew she was going to regret. Her mouth involuntarily closed, as her motherly instincts poured in, and replaced the anger by relief.

"Don't you ever, do you hear me? Ever! Do that again. You don't know how worried..." She broke off.

"Be-Mrs. Meyers I am so incredibly sorry. I never should have let Brooke go to the concert without consulting you. You gave me the charge to take care of your daughter, and I failed in doing so. I am so sorry. Truly." Kevin apologised, guilt plastered on his face.

Bethany knew he saw her as a second mother, or perhaps third, and loved her almost as much as Brooke did. "I never should have snapped at you Kevin." She began, "I'm sorry. Yes You, both of you, should have thought it through. I'm disappointed."

Kevin and Brooke looked at each other, but said nothing, small smiles spreading over their faces unconsciously. Bethany noticed, but didn't remark it. Figuring they at least had a good time, she let that one slide, simply grounding her daughter.

"What a gift!" Brooke whined, as her mother ignored the comment.

"What were you guys doing out so late anyways?"

"Oh my goodness Bethany!" Kevin gushed, "We went to see The Vamps. Justin's birthday gift to Brooke, a compensation for her thirteen or fourteen year old birthday wish. I forgot."

"The Vamps?! Come on Brooke I taught you better than that."

"Mom I was fou-" Brooke stopped, as she fell backwards, stumbled, crouching as still as a stick, completely and utterly gone.

The light in her eyes had disappeared, her chest wasn't rising or falling, and her hair seemed to glow. She seemed to glow. Kevin and Bethany shared one glance at each other, before rushing to Brooke' s aid.

The blonde girl had been in the middle of her sentence, when a sudden rush of light illuminated the room, blinding her. The shock of the golden glow held such force, it pushed her back, knocking her to the ground. Her soul seemed to vanish from her body, as she was transported to some sort of... paradise?

A series of images flashed past her eyes, so fast, yet so slow. It seemed to last an eternity, each image the length of a lifetime.

She saw wings. Black wings. She saw knives, arrows, and weapons. She saw the glorious silhouette of what she thought looked like an angel, yet seemed quite familiar. The last image, which somehow lasted longer than the others, was of three silhouettes, walking away from a battle field, two of them carrying another. The one being carried, gave off the impression of being dead, with limp arms and legs, and somehow bloody clothes. Brooke couldn't tell, the images were blurry.

She saw the three silhouettes, seemingly defeated, walking away from the shadows, which kept following them.

Brooke's heartbeat quickened, the way it had when the flashback she had at school overtook her.

As if reminded of reality, Brooke' s soul shifted back into her body, as she gasped. An ugly sound of desperation and fear.

Just as she let out the weird sound, Kevin and Bethany had been advancing towards her.

"Baby are you okay?" She heard her boyfriend's voice ask, worriedly, and painfully looked up to see Bethany shaking.

"What happened?"

"i- I don't know. You just froze!" Kevin sputtered.

"How Long?" Brooke asked.

"Fifteen seconds." Bethany whispered, still taken aback. The eighteen year old couldn't stop the wave of shock that rippled through her. What had seemed like hours or even days of images slowly flashing in her head, had only been seconds.

"Kevin, thank you for bringing her home. She'll see you tomorow at school okay?" Brooke' s mom told the grey-green eyed boy.

Kevin seemed to hesitate, not wanting to leave at this moment. But he didn't know what he could do if he stayed. It was best to let Bethany deal with whatever it was he had to deal with at the moment.

"See you tomorow Brooke." he said, crouching down to kiss her on the cheek before leaving.

The door closed behind him.

Bethany didn't help her daughter up. She didn't waver. All her worry and gentleness seemed gone.

All of the sudden.

Brooke expected her mother to start shouting, now that Kevin wasn't here anymore. To be mad. To reprimand her for going to a concert on a school night. To ground her even more for not even texting or calling in advance.

But not a single one of her expectations happened. Instead, her mother breathed in deeply, and sat in the couch, Brooke scrambling up to join her.

Not a word passed for a full five minutes, until Bethany simply asked, somehow well aware of what Brooke had gone through,

"What did you see?."

A/N

This is definitely not my best chapter. If anything it's bad, rushed, rusty and childish. And I only have laziness to blame.

But please, what were your thoughts? What could I improve, what are your theories? What did you like?

The chapters will get better, and things will make more sense. Because the beginning of this book is not good I'll admit.

Thank you for reading❤
